User:MrWarnerTheGreat/Scott Pilgrim calculation compilation

From The Codex

Introduction

This blog post will be the future reference blog for various calculations I will be featuring in a not-so future YouTube video. This is primarily made for those who wish to see the full math and breakdown of the calculation I used.

Matthew Patel pierces The Rockit Roof

Most of the evil exes lack an official height, so I used the movie actor, Satya Bhabha, who apparently has a height of 1.75 meters (5'8), that's a pretty realistic height given what the books portray.

Matthew Patel's head height should be about .25 meters (Diving the full body height by seven).

Matthew's head = 208px

Hole diameter = 299px

This makes the hole Matthew makes about 1.4375 bigger than his head... that's rather small if you ask me. This is definitely going to be a rather low-end calculation.

Anyway, by also getting the depth of the roof, this makes the volume of the hole 1462.9973016cm³ (Like I said, REALLY small for Matthew to fit through).

This was obviously a case of fragmentation given the debris that fly everywhere when Matthew makes the hole.

Most warehouse roofs are made out of steel, so we'll be using the fragmentation value of it to get our final result.

Steel has a fragmentation value of 208 j/cc, thus our formula is 208*1462.9973016 = 304303.438733 joules.

This translates to 304.303438733 kilojoules. Or roughly 22 times above baseline Wall level.

Lucas Lee yeets Scott into a castle

Lucas also lacks an official height, so we'll give him a solid six feet, or 1.8288 meters, tall, as he is visibly taller when compared to the 1.801368 meter Scott Pilgrim.

The brick wall that surrounds Casa Loma is about 2.02092050209 times bigger than Lucas Lee. This means the wall is 3.69585941422 meters tall.

50px = 3.69585941422 meters

400px = 29.5668753138 meters

With the height of Casa Loma in mind, we can now get a radius for the explosion Scott's impact created.

The explosion is about 2.36686390533 times smaller than the size of Casa Loma, thus the radius of the blast is 6.24600241005 meters.

For this particular explosion, we'll be using the air formula.

((0.00624600241005/0.28)^3)/1000 = 0.0111002395. Dividing this due to the explosion obviously not being nuclear gives us a final result of 0.00555011975 tons of TNT.

0.00555011975 tons of TNT is Room level (9-A). Makes sense for Lucas to perform a better feat than Matthew Patel.

Todd Ingram punches a hole in the Moon

Comic Version

Original calculation here.

Everyone's aware of the calculations done for this feat years, so here's my version with a different perspective on the moon.

The moon is 3475 kilometers (Or 3475000 meters).

100px = moon diameter (3475000 meters)

24px = 834000 meters

With our diameter for the hole, now we need the depth of the hole. Unfortunately for us, no shot will give us a clear answer, so instead I'm just going to do what the original Todd calc did and use the diameter/4 method.

So with our values, we can finally get the volume. We'll be using an ellipsoid formula. Plugging all the numbers in gets us a volume of 1.5186818e+23cm³.

Taking a look at the original flashback's panel, there doesn't appear to be many chunks. Furthermore, the movie proves this notion further (Look below for context).

With this in mind, our final equation is 1.5186818e+23*214.35 = 1.6276472e+25 joules, or 7.7803403441682599251 petatons of TNT.

That's nearly two times higher than the original calculation (Mainly due to the change in the moon's diameter). If I was to redo the original ones, I could get even higher results.

Movie Version

Original calculation here.

So without using Ramona's flashback, like we did for the comic calculation, we'll be using the shot of the moon in Sex Bob-omb's battle against the Katayanagi Twins.

The moon has a diameter of 3475000 meters

84px = moon diameter (3475000 meters)

21px = 868500 meters

Now we need depth. We'll be doing the same thing we did for the comic calculation and use the diameter/4 method to get our depth.

With those values, we get a volume of 1.7150552e+23cm³. Now based on the scene of Todd punching the moon, it appears to be pulverization (With the chunks that are present fading away a second later), like the comic version.

With this in mind, our final equation is 1.7150552e+23*214.35 = 1.1205121e+25 joules, or 8.7863785850860427473 petatons of TNT.

Once again, about twice greater than the original result, thanks to the new moon diameter AND a slightly greater diameter for the hole.

Game Version

Same feat for the third time! Now we have the biggest holes to date in the series...

433px = moon diameter (3475000 meters)

129px = 1035277.13626 meters

Just gonna skip the unnecessary filler "We need the depth" speech and say that the volume of the hole is 2.9049489+23cm³.

2.9049489e+23*214.35 = 6.226758e+25 joules, or 14.882308795411091751 petatons of TNT.

This is by far the highest result in the series, and will likely stay that way without touching on multipliers.

Gideon Graves threatens to nuke the entire west coast

We have no idea how Gideon was going to do this since he never executed his plan, so we'll assume it's similar to Todd Ingram's infamous moon punch.

Canada's Pacific Coast is over 27,000 Kilometers long.

13500000^3*((27136*1.37895+8649)^(1/2)/13568-93/13568)^2 = 1.9773649e+17 tons of TNT, or 197.74 petatons of TNT.
