Tell it to the cleaning lady on Monday.

Because...Because you'll be dust by Monday.

Because I'll be pulverizing you sometime over the weekend.

And the cleaning lady...cleans up...dust. She dusts.

And she has the weekends off, so...Monday. Right?

~ Todd Ingram trying to be witty to Scott Pilgrim

That's right. I'm not afraid to hit a girl!
I'm a rock star, losers-

~ Todd Ingram after throwing Envy Adams

Background

Todd Ingram is Ramona Flowers's third ex-boyfriend and the final boss of Scott Pilgrim & the Infinite Sadness. He was in a relationship with Envy Adams (cheating on Envy with Lynette Guycott) and the bass player for The Clash at Demonhead. He is also a Vegan, though known to cheat on both his vegan diet as well as his girlfriend, believing he can get away with mostly anything because he's a rock star.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Todd Ingram’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Relationships with Ramona and Envy

Todd knew Envy since they were eleven as they grew up together in Montreal. The two shared (in Envy's opinion) a deeply loving relationship until Todd's family moved out of Toronto.

Ramona dated Todd for the remainder of high school after she left Lucas Lee, saying they were the "bad kids" together. He vanished for two weeks while they dated, during which he went vegan and gained his telekinetic powers (having apparently been studied by scientists). Todd returned and took Ramona out of class to prove his love for her by blasting one of the two craters in the moon, causing what Ramona described as "About 30 pages of explosions and tidal waves". Todd ended up going to a vegan college while Ramona went to the The University of Carolina in the Sky, though, so the two decided to call it quits. It wasn't until later that he was reunited with Envy and the two started dating, at which point he once again punched another hole in the moon to prove his love for her this time. By Scott Pilgrim & the Infinite Sadness, the two are still dating while touring with their band. However unknown to Envy, he started cheating on her with the drummer of the band, Lynette Guycott (from his flashback inside Honest Ed's, we see that she seduced him into it). Envy then found out they were having an affair when Lynette and Todd came walking out of the bathroom after having an hour of sex with Lynette's underwear on his head and Todd zipping his pants. Their relationship ended abruptly after this.

Encounter with Scott

Scott finds out about him when he, Ramona, and their friends catch The Clash at the Demonhead show at Lee's Palace. Envy invites them backstage for a little talk (mostly just flaunting her fame in their faces). Scott's memories of his time with Envy cause him to attack Todd in rage to which Todd reveals his Vegan powers and effortlessly sends Scott flying through a wall and into the alleyway. Scott tries again but finds he is indeed outclassed. The lateness of the hour has Envy calling the fight off till the next day. Both groups meet once again outside Honest Ed's where Envy sets up a race between the two through the store, with Todd forbidden to use his Vegan power. However, the somewhat frantic nature of the store gets to Todd, and he accidentally implodes the store and destroys it, forcing Envy to cancel the fight.

A day later Envy, Lynette, and he are having lunch and he orders Gelato as a dessert – Envy unaware that it has milk and eggs in it. It's here we find out about his cheating nature as he makes out with Lynette while Envy goes to the restroom. This is revealed to Envy later in volume 3 at another club the band is due to perform in when he comes out of a restroom with Lynette's Panties on his head in the midst of Envy's fight with Ramona. Envy kicks him in the groin not long after that and he retaliates in kind.

Defeat

Scott goes on the offensive, even receiving help from the band The Boys!! and Crash! but it wasn't enough against his power. Luckily the Vegan Police show up due to Todd's two infractions of consuming non-vegan foods (Gelato, containing milk and eggs, and Chicken Parmesan). Todd was stripped of his powers via the Deveganizing Ray (despite trying to dodge their blast) and left helpless. Scott headbutted him afterwards, causing him to turn into a pile of coins, as well as an Extra Life.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Human Achievements (Is an important member of The Clash at Demonhead and went to Vegan Academy), Pseudo-Flight (Casually jumped to the moon and returned to the planet on two separate occasions), Self-Sustenance (Respiratory Self-Sustenance; Was completely fine when going to punch a hole in the moon for Ramona and Envy), Power Suppression (Area of Effect Suppression; Can prevent his attacks from creating powerful shockwaves), Rage Power (Can enter an enraged state where his power is far more ruthless and dangerous), Telekinesis (Telekinetically flung Scott around), Attack Reflection (Todd can use his telekinetic powers to redirect incoming attacks, preventing them from hitting him), Explosion Manipulation and Energy Manipulation (Performed a psychic nuke and can fire energy beams. His moon punch created thirty pages of explosions), Electricity Manipulation (Can fire vegan-electricity bolts at his foes. By concentrating his vegan powers into his guitar, he fired more powerful electricity bolts at Scott than he could prior), Shockwave Generation (His moon punch created a shockwave so large that it reached the surface of the planet), Battlefield Removal and Empathic Manipulation (Characters who die in the Scott Pilgrim universe simply respawn in their house, having learned their lesson), limited Invulnerability (Todd can't kill himself or those he considers friends due to friendly fire not existing. He can die to "bad guys" however), Law Manipulation (Subspace can shape reality to the user's liking. An example being Scott Pilgrim and the various video game-like aspects of the world, which are a result of Subspace and its perspective-based abilities), Perspective Manipulation and Observation (Unconscious Manifestation; Potent Subspace users can use the perspective-based powers of Subspace to overwrite reality to fit how they view it in the real world), Avatar Creation (Has an avatar in subspace he unconsciously creates), Immortality (Life and Death Immunity; Death is treated as an inconvenience in the universe withy nobody actually dying), Dimensional Travel & Space-Time Manipulation (Characters can manifest doors directly to subspace, or even move between subspace and the real world through sheer force. Breaking the walls between subspace and the main universe), Mind Manipulation (Entering Subspace directly accesses one's mind and subconscious thoughts), Irreversible Damage (Can kill ones subspace avatar and kill their true form in the process), Attack Reflection (Scales to Scott Pilgrim who gave Gideon the Glow), Sheer Will (Those who can access the powers of Subspace in the real world naturally require a strong will and determination to control them. Becoming a vegan requiers a strong will), Subjective Reality & Dimensional Storage (Whatever the user can imagine will be created in subspace. For instance, Scott manifested his love for Ramona as the Power of Love, which he can pull from and store in Subspace), Portal Creation & Summoning (As the powers of the characters originate from Subspace, they can create portals or summon beings and objects from their subspace)
Resistance to Mind Manipulation (Should naturally resist conventional mind manipulation as his mind harbors subspace. Todd is a naturally trained psychic capable of using all 100% of his brain), High Pain Tolerance (Todd was able to take a hit to the balls from Envy Adams), Plot Manipulation and Erasure (Characters are unaffected by the events in the plotline being altered and erased which imvolves), Transmutation (Doesn't get immediately turned into money by Scott and Ramona), Radiation Manipulation, Gravity Manipulation, and Biological Manipulation (Can survive in outer space and on the moon)

Sound Manipulation and Broadway Force (As a guitar, Todd's Fender Mustang Bass Guitar can naturally play music. Unlike a regular guitar however, Todd Ingram can use it to directly fight his opponents. Furthermore, Todd Ingram's musical output is so potent, that it has a global effect whilst playing that can overpower others' music), Empowerment, Enhanced Electricity Manipulation (Sent an amplified electric bolt at Scott by concentrating his vegan powers into his guitar), Forcefield Creation and Enhanced Attack Reflection (Created a vegan barrier that reflected Crash and the Boys' attacks back along with Scott Pilgrim)

All previous powers and abilities to an unknown extent. Abstract Existence (Idea, Primordial Source), Regeneration (Low-Godly; Subspace avatars are avatars of pure cognition[1] of one's true self and by extension can be restored by the true form at will[2]), Immortality, Supernatural Resilience, and Unconditional Time Travel (Life and Death Immunity; Concepts such as death are irrelevant to subspace avatars/dwellers as even if one dies[3] they will just be sent into subspace[4], with spirits being able to freely pass through and from Subspace. Immortal Metaphysical Aspect; All damage done to a subspace avatar means nothing to their true self. Someone like Scott could lose his limbs in subspace and be cut in half and would still be perfectly fine[2][5]. Reliance; True Self/Person; As the creation(s) in subspace ultimately have no major consequences on the real world self, the subspace avatar can be endlessly created[2]. Even if subspace itself is destroyed[5], the true self can simply restore it as well. Subspace avatars are avatars of pure cognition[1] created by one's true self and by extension can be restored by the true form at will[6], regardless of the damage they succumb to[2]) Alternate Replacements (Due to Subspace being an entire space-time continuum directly tied to the user's mind[7] mind subspace is therefore directly linked to the user's entire life, allowing for numerous versions of the same being to exist simultaneously[5]. Furthermore, psychic energies can traverse through the timestream to the present era, further suggesting that mental figments of one's past self can travel through the timestream), Acausality (Irregular Causality; Subspace is a different space-time where all rules are different (including death[4]), thus it should by extension be a different system of causality), Enhanced Perspective Manipulation and Observation (Unconscious Manifestation and Conscious Manifestation; Perception is Law. People, items, and Mind Subspace itself are based on the nature of the person's mind, therefore, however, a person imagines Subspace is how it will appear. A good example is Scott's Dream Desert[8]: this location is repeatedly used as a metaphor for Scott's loneliness but also is his projected image of Subspace at that time which Ramona is able to pass through[8]), Law Manipulation (One’s subspace operates under their rules[9] and systems[6] which can extend even to the real[10] world[11] with characters like Gideon affecting Ramona’s Subspace), Reality Warping and Mind Manipulation (Mindshifting; While Mind Subspace allows for others' own projected images of themselves to take on other forms[5], the individual whom the Subspace resides in retains all power and control within said mind. Through this, the character can shape themselves and Subspace to their liking all through their thoughts, perspectives, and desires), Power Nullification (A user of Subspace can completely nullify any connection an opponent has in that Subspace, regardless of if they're more powerful or not. This is how Ramona was able to expel Gideon despite him being a master of Subspace and able to manipulate it inside anyone's mind[5]), Dimensional Travel and limited Possession (Subspace users can unconsciously and consciously enter their subspace avatars[7], even after dying[5]), Power Manifestation (Gideon Graves was able to create the Glow from subspace[5] and use it to directly counter mind subspace[5])

Equipment

  • Vegan Powers: The Powers Todd earned at the Vegan Academy during his later years in high school. With the Vegan Powers, Todd uses all 100% of his brain to unleash powerful psychic energy waves that can be used offensively and defensively. However, he has to follow rules set by the Vegan Academy in order to keep them.
  • Fender Mustang Bass Guitar: Todd Ingram's official guitar he plays in the band The Clash at Demonhead. Todd both uses the instrument for performances, and to channel his vegan powers into far more potent offensive and defensive techniques.

Other

Standard Tactics: Todd will use his telekinesis to keep his opponents afar and use his vegan-based attacks to overwhelm and defeat them. Without his vegan powers, he will leap towards his opponent and punch them, creating a massive shockwave.

Weaknesses: If he eats dairy or any other products with even the slightest hints of meat in them, the Vegan Police will eventually come and take his powers away (This process is not instant and likely won't factor into a fight unless drawn out for multiple hours to even days). Todd has a fatal weakspot in the genital area and striking it induces massive amounts of pain and causes Todd to get enraged to the point he will hurt people he cares about.
