Weapon Control

From The Codex
Jump to navigationJump to search

Background

Weapon Control is the ability to freely command and manipulate one's own weapon without needing to physically hold it. While similar to Telekinesis, this ability is restricted solely to the user's weapon, allowing for precise and absolute control. Users can launch, recall, or maneuver their weapon at will, often regardless of distance or obstacles. In some cases, the connection is so strong that no one else can lift or wield the weapon without the user's permission. This control can be used for both offensive and defensive purposes, enabling weapons to intercept attacks, guard the user, or strike targets independently.

This power often appears with enchanted, soul-bound, or signature weapons tied closely to the user’s spirit, power, or will.

Also Called

  • Personal Weapon Control
  • Signature Weapon Command
  • Weapon Manipulation
  • Bound Weapon Control
  • Spirit-Linked Weaponry

Possible Applications

  • Remotely attacking enemies by sending the weapon flying toward them.
  • Having the weapon automatically defend or shield the user from attacks.
  • Recalling a lost or thrown weapon back to the user's hand.
  • Keeping others from wielding, lifting, or tampering with the weapon.
  • Performing coordinated attacks from multiple angles without touching the weapon.
  • Having the weapon float nearby in a defensive or menacing posture.
  • Triggering special properties or powers within the weapon through mental command.

Practical Uses

  • Combat Flexibility: Attack and defend simultaneously without being limited to arm movement or proximity.
  • Disarming Immunity: The user cannot be disarmed in a conventional sense, as the weapon will return or resist capture.
  • Enhanced Reach: Users can engage targets at mid- or long-range without needing ranged weapons.
  • Surprise Tactics: Weapons can attack from unexpected angles or while the user distracts opponents.
  • Multi-Target Engagement: Handle multiple opponents more effectively by directing the weapon independently.

Potential Types

  • Distance Weapon Control: Full control over the weapon even at great distances.
  • Defensive Weapon Control: The weapon protects the user autonomously, acting as a shield or barrier.
  • Summoning Weapon Control: Ability to summon the weapon from remote locations directly to the user’s side.
  • Autonomous Weapon Control: Weapon can act on commands without needing constant active direction.

Possible Limitations

  • Weapon-Specific: Only applies to the user’s bonded or signature weapon, not all weapons in general.
  • Range Limitations: May have a maximum distance after which the connection weakens or is lost.
  • Energy or Focus Dependency: Maintaining control might require stamina, mana, or concentration.
  • Physical Damage: Weapons can still be damaged, destroyed, or otherwise impaired despite user control.
  • Anti-Magic or Anti-Psychic Defenses: Certain defenses might interfere with weapon control.

Users

  • Thor (God of War): Can command and throw his hammer Mjölnir, calling it back to his hand at will.
  • Kratos (God of War):: Wields the Leviathan, an axe he can throw and call back to himself, no matter how far away it is.
