To calculate the force required to stop a 1944-era steam train, we need to use the formula for force:
'''Force = Mass × Acceleration'''
We assume the following values:
* Speed: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_locomotive The top speed of a 1944-era steam train is approximately 100 km/h] (converted to 27.8 m/s).
* Mass: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_locomotive#:~:text=In%20the%20United%20States%2C%20larger,-force%20(602%2C180%20newtons). We'll use the value of heavy locomotives such as the Union Pacific Big Boy, which weighs 540 long tons], which is approximately 548,665 kg.
* Time: [https://youtu.be/Dt596mPF9Yk?t=196 The train gets caught at 3:17] [https://youtu.be/Dt596mPF9Yk?t=202 and fully stops at 3:23], so 6 seconds.
The acceleration (or deceleration) can be calculated using the formula:
'''Acceleration = (Final Velocity - Initial Velocity) / Time'''
Since the final velocity is 0 m/s (the train stops) and the initial velocity is 27.8 m/s:
'''Acceleration = (0 - 27.8 m/s) / 6 s = -4.633~ m/s²'''
Now, using the mass of the train:
'''Force = 548,665 kg × -4.633~ m/s² = -2,541,964.945 N (Newtons)'''
Thus, the force required to stop the train in 6 seconds is approximately '''-2,541,964.945 N'''.
For note the negative sign just indicates that the force is applied in the opposite direction of the train's motion, which is expected during deceleration (slowing down or stopping). It still is the same magnitude required whether negative or positive, so the feat itself would still be them stopping 2,541,964.945 Newtons.
For reference, this is '''Class K'''.
Oh yeah, since Johnathan and Charlotte did it together, we'll divide it by 2.
2,541,964.945 N/2 = 1,270,982.4725 N, still '''Class K'''.
'''Who does this scale to?'''
<Br>
This one is pretty hard since not only are Johnathan and Charlotte using a direct amplification to their lifting strength in order to do this, but they're doing it combined. Along with this, Johnathan and Charlotte are no slouches, being the second strongest non-vampire protags (not counting [[Soma Cruz]]) as they come right before [[Julius Belmont]] so I think for now I'll just have it only apply to Johnathan and Charlotte. As it's not only combined but through gear that amplifies their lifting strength.

Introduction

This blog is for the various different feats in Castlevania that I'll be calculating, as I now just put all my calculations for one verse into one blog to make them far easier to find.

Golem Shoots a massive energy blast

Golem's ultimate attack shoots out a massive blast that vaporizes the ground, we get a decent enough height scale for him, so.

Calculation

Ok so I initially used Golem's height and tried to scale it in comparison to the blast, but after re-looking at the scene, this is far too much of a lowball, the blast objectively goes out as far as one can see. So instead I'll be ignoring the distance of the blast in this measurement and only measure the width of the blast in comparison to Golem.

Without obstructions, one can see about 3 miles or 4.8 kilometers into the distance from ground level.

Golem is 300 cm.

He's kneeling over during the attack, so the screen actually does cover most of his body.

Golem is 220 px and the width length is 145 px.

Making it 197.7272727272727 cm.

So because this is very clearly cylindrical, I need to use this formula: 𝑉 = 𝜋 × (radius)2 × length

V = 𝜋 * (98.86363636363636 cm)2 * (482,803 cm)

V = 1.48249416828261790231e10 cc

Now Golem can do this at any stage, the stages are listed here: https://www.castlevaniacrypt.com/jud-stages/

A lot of these stages use concrete structures, so let's go with that.

Density of concrete is 2.4 g/cm^3.

1.48249416828261790231e10 cm3 * 2.4 g/cm3 = 3.557986003878283e10 g or 3.5579860038782828e7 kg

Concrete's specific heat capacity is 880 J/kg°C.

Concrete's melting point = 1500 °C.

Q = m*c*ΔΤ

Q = (3.5579860038782828e7 kg) * (880J/kg°C) * (1500°C)

Q = 4.6965415251193333e13 J or 11.22500364512269222 Kilotons of TNT, Town level.

Who does this scale to?
Seeing as Golem is a character from Judgment, this is an interesting question indeed. The thing is, this is a boss enemy that makes a repeated appearance in Castlevania games. So one could theoretically say all of them scale, however most of the golems from what I remember, cannot shoot an energy beam from their mouth like this golem can. Some of them do have fire beams so I will assume that it's just a golem with that + he was killed by a random unknown hunter.

Also it would be really weird for Dark Lords, who are considered the most powerful versions of the Creatures of the Night to be that much weaker then Golem. To be safe though I will add an "At most" to Alchemy Whip users as they're unable to even defeat Dark Lords like Walter and it's unknown what time period the unnamed Vampire Hunter comes from.

Johnathan and Charlotte Stop a Full Moving Train

Johnathan and Charlotte together stop a train moving at top speed[1], for reference, they have the strength glove relic to even be able to do this.

To calculate the force required to stop a 1944-era steam train, we need to use the formula for force:

Force = Mass × Acceleration

We assume the following values:

The acceleration (or deceleration) can be calculated using the formula:

Acceleration = (Final Velocity - Initial Velocity) / Time

Since the final velocity is 0 m/s (the train stops) and the initial velocity is 27.8 m/s:

Acceleration = (0 - 27.8 m/s) / 6 s = -4.633~ m/s²

Now, using the mass of the train:

Force = 548,665 kg × -4.633~ m/s² = -2,541,964.945 N (Newtons)

Thus, the force required to stop the train in 6 seconds is approximately -2,541,964.945 N.

For note the negative sign just indicates that the force is applied in the opposite direction of the train's motion, which is expected during deceleration (slowing down or stopping). It still is the same magnitude required whether negative or positive, so the feat itself would still be them stopping 2,541,964.945 Newtons.

For reference, this is Class K.

Oh yeah, since Johnathan and Charlotte did it together, we'll divide it by 2.

2,541,964.945 N/2 = 1,270,982.4725 N, still Class K.

Who does this scale to?
This one is pretty hard since not only are Johnathan and Charlotte using a direct amplification to their lifting strength in order to do this, but they're doing it combined. Along with this, Johnathan and Charlotte are no slouches, being the second strongest non-vampire protags (not counting Soma Cruz) as they come right before Julius Belmont so I think for now I'll just have it only apply to Johnathan and Charlotte. As it's not only combined but through gear that amplifies their lifting strength.
