Serving as the Clock Tower guard for quite a while, Grant was eventually put up against [[Trevor Belmont]] and [[Sypha Belnades]]. The team defeated Grant, reverting him back to his human form, and he joined them without hesitation. Grant would help the team defeat Lord Dracula in a climactic battle, along the way developing feelings for Sypha.
 
To his dismay, Sypha had shared feelings for Trevor, and the two married. Ashamed, Grant did not show up to the marriage, and hid himself away from his friends. Until one day, a mysterious man appeared in front of Grant, and he was pulled into a Time Rift. Although reluctant, Grant helped defeat the Time Reaper, although along the way he was forced to run into Trevor and Sypha once again.
