Background

The red kangaroo (Osphranter rufus) is the largest of all kangaroos, the largest terrestrial mammal native to Australia, and the largest extant marsupial. It is found across mainland Australia, except for the more fertile areas, such as southern Western Australia, the eastern and southeastern coasts, and the rainforests along the northern coast.

Statistics

Tier: 9-C, Higher with piercing damage

Name: Red kangaroo, Osphranter rufus

Origin: The Real Wolrd

Sex: Varies (Can be Male or Female)

Age: Varies (Usually live up to about 22 years)

Classification: Mammal, Marsupial

Status: Active (Red Kangaroo are are listed as least concern[1])

Alignment: Unaligned (Animals have no real moral compass asides from very primitive ones, thus they fall under no true alignment as they're not inherently evil, good, or neutral)

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: Peak Human level (Red Kangaroos can cause broken bones, puncture wounds, lacerations and bruises on humans[2] and dogs[3]), Higher with piercing damage (Red Kangaroos have a bite force of 925psi and their claws are sharp enough to easily disembowel a rival kangaroo[4])

Durability: Peak Human level

Striking Strength: Peak Human Class

Lifting Strength: Above Average (Red Kangaroos can weigh up to 200 pounds and should be capable of supporting their own weight)

Travel Speed: Average Human normally (Red Kangaroos normally hop at speeds of 13-16 mph.), Superhuman at top speed (At top speed, Red Kangaroos can hop at 44 mph[5])

Combat Speed: Superhuman

Reaction Speed: Superhuman

Stamina: High (red Kangaroos can cover up to two kilometers when going near max speed[6])

Range: Standard Melee

Intelligence: Animalistic

Powers and Abilities

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Enhanced Senses (Red Kangaroos have excellent hearing, can smell watering holes from a mile away[7] and have approximately 300° vision[8]), Natural Weaponry (Red Kangaroos have sharp claws and a powerful bite), Acrobatics (Red Kangaroos can jump 9 meters in a single jump), Observation (Type 1; Any living being or object that is capable of making measurements using any of the five senses influence reality in subtle ways, a phenomenon known as the observer effect)

Standard Equipment

Nothing Notable

Other

Standard Tactics: Red Kangaroos will "box" their opponents attacking them with a mix of swips with their paws using thier sharp claws and their unique manoeuvre known as "kick boxing" in which they balance on their long and muscular tail while they kick out at their opponent with their hind feet usually resulting in sending the opponent flying back. Red Kangaroos have also been observed running away from predators and luring them into water before holding them underneath in order to drown them.

Weaknesses: Nothing Notable

References

  1. Red kangaroos are listed as least concern with a stable population on the UUNC Red List. They are abundant throughout their Australian range but are susceptible to habitat destruction and drought.
  2. Injuries caused by kangaroos include broken bones, puncture wounds, lacerations, bruises, and scratches. There are also reports of kangaroos attacking children.
  3. Kangaroos are dangerous to dogs because they can cause serious injuries such as broken bones, punctured lungs, and internal bleeding. If you find a dog injured after being attacked by a kangaroo, call your local animal control agency immediately.
  4. Easily the most important role that these hind claws play is in the ritualized boxing matches that males take part in. The claws on their hind paws are believed to be the most lethal as they can easily disembowel a kangaroo if they hit their mark.
  5. The most comfortable speed for the kangaroo when hopping is about 20-25 kilometers/hour (13 to 16 miles/hour). However they are capable of speeds of up to 70 kmph (44 m/mph).
  6. Kangaroos can keep a speed of 40 kmph (24/mph) for up to 2 km (1 mile and a half), but they are unable to go such a distance at higher speeds. Eventually they will tire out if they travel too fast, so they have to even out their speed.
  7. Kangaroos have good vision and excellent hearing, and when a member of the "mob" spots danger they will warn the others by thumping the ground with their huge feet. They have a superior sense of smell as well, detecting watering holes from miles away.
  8. Due to the position of their eyes, Red kangaroos' range of vision is approximately 300° (324° with about 25° overlap).
