Alignment: Neutral Good as her fake persona (Bête, under her human alias, is a curious child bursting with energy. She acts cheerfully and is quick to greet peers with a huge smile. Nevertheless, despite appearing sweet and innocent), Chaotic Evil ( Bête's false personality quickly dissipated after Asriel and Sans discovered some AMD camera footage of her acting rather suspicious. During this time, Dr. Gaster learned that Agate Lightvale sacrificed her own soul to create a powerful creature that would make sure monster-kind and humanity never live in peace. Afterward, Bête revealed her true personality, quickly indicating that she enjoys it when she severely hurts others (both physically and emotionally), showing that she has a very sadistic, psychotic, and violent personality. She appears to enjoy hurting her opponents before she kills them. In fact, Bête is known for attempting to kill anyone in her way. It's also clear that she has no problem lying to, or betraying, others, as she manipulated Jessica into doing what she wanted them to do. Another example of this is when she caused Undyne to hallucinate, causing her to kill Alphys instead of her, or when she caused Jessica to hallucinate a mangled and nightmarish version of Alina, causing her immense emotional pain whilst taking the HATE vial. During combat, she often becomes arrogant, resulting in her underestimating her enemies. She also displays minimal tactical knowledge, allowing the use of strategy to defeat her in battle, as shown in her various battles with Gaster. Although it is observed that she can calculate and knows how to get what she wants, though she seems to not be able to plan to a great extent. Bête, for the most part, believes what she is doing is right. According to her conversation with Akumu, and a couple of lines from Scared Of Me, she believes that monsters and humans living together is "like a time bomb waiting to go off". Therefore, she thinks that what she's doing is "just speeding up the process", thus showing that Bête's views on humans and monsters living together are the same as Agate's. She also knows everyone's past, and uses their mistakes to justify what she does, exemplified by her chastising Asriel (as Flowey) for committing genocide on the inhabitants of the Underground. Occasionally, Bête shows care for Akumu and talks to it as an acquaintance. For example, in Do or Die, she seemed concerned when Akumu was hurt in their battle with Gaster. Both Kumu and Bête treasure each other like their best and only friend, but regardless of this false hope, Cami said it was a kind of instinct since they need each other to live. If one of them dies, the other slowly dies due to the lack of magic and inability to collect souls alone), Chaotic Evil with Hate (While under HATE's control, Bête acts far more violent and frightening than she had previously. In this state, mostly during combat, she mercilessly attacks her foes with a menacing grin. Also, Bête seems to be scared of HATE's plans, as it could control her; this means she knows that HATE has different plans than her own)

• Camila confirmed in the Youtube comments section of Animosity that Bete is dead, gone for good, and that the Hate monster is a completely different thing.
• Bete hated her nickname as Betty, and only did it to conceal her identity.
• The "Bête Noire" doesn't have a gender, however, it depends on how it was created.
• Bete can never become Amber because her soul is long gone due to Agate. After all, she has Agate's soul and NOT Amber's soul.
  • Bete is NOT Amber Lightvale because they are completely two different people. However, Amber's body was used to create Bete as it can be seen in "Glitchtale Origins" animation.
  • Though, Bête Noire knows who Amber was.
• Bete's "new look" in My Promise isn't a transformation, but her real appearance. In fact, what the audience has seen until My Promise was her transformation.
• She can turn her hands into pink claws or their "innocent" appearance as seen in Game Over Part 2.

  • Bete's real name, Bête Noire, comes from the French term Bête Noire, which means Bête=Beast and Noire=Black (translated from french) "someone or something that one particularly dislikes." As for her creator, Agate Lightvale, monsters were her bête noire. This could also be referring to the fans and most Glitchtale characters, as several people dislike her. Bête Noire in French specifically means "Black Beast".
  • Camila said in the description of her speedpaint "The Black Beast" that one of the other reasons why Bete is also called "Black Beast" is because Bete feeds on HATE to get stronger.
  • This also explains why her primary goal was to make sure there would never be peace between humans and monsters.
• Bete's special attack was first announced in an amino post of Camila.

• Losing the control to HATE is a big threat to Bête Noire because it's basically dying, except that aside from dying she knows she won’t have control of herself anymore.
