Background

XXXG-01W Wing Gundam, often simply called Wing Gundam or Gundam Zero-One, is the titular mobile suit of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. This Gundam was created by Doctor J in AC 188 for Operation Meteor, and was primarily piloted by Heero Yuy.

As a Gundam unit, Wing Gundam is far more advanced than most mobile suits, and thus requires an extremely skilled person to pilot it. It was one of the five main Gundam suits built for Operation Meteor, alongside Gundam Deathscythe, Gundam Heavyarms, Gundam Sandrock, and Gundam Shenlong.

Unlike most other Gundam suits, Wing Gundam is capable of transforming into an alternate form known as Bird Mode, which allows for speeds optimized for fast travel. Although a powerful mobile suit in its own right, Wing Gundam is nothing but a descendant to the highly-advanced and extraordinarily dangerous Wing Gundam Zero.
