Zombification
From The Codex

Background
Zombification is the ability to transform other beings into zombies, typically through infection, magic, or supernatural influence. This transformation can occur via bites, exposure to a pathogen, cursed objects, or necromantic rituals. Zombies created this way may be mindless thralls, reanimated corpses, or infected hosts, depending on the method and universe. Zombification is often associated with plagues, outbreaks, or dark arts, and commonly functions as a subset of Disease Manipulation or Corruption.
Also Called
- Zombie Creation
- Undead Conversion
- Necrotic Infection
Possible Applications
- Infection-Based Conversion: Spreading zombification through physical contact or bites.
- Mass Reanimation: Turning large numbers of corpses into zombies at once through spells or rituals.
- Controlled Zombification: Creating zombies that obey the user’s commands.
- Recursive Spread: Zombies created can spread the infection themselves, amplifying the threat.
- Undead Army Creation: Building a force of undead to serve the user.
Potential Types
- Pathogenic Zombification: Transformation through viruses, fungi, or other biological agents.
- Magical Zombification: Use of spells, curses, or enchanted artifacts to create undead.
- Mechanical Zombification: Use of technological means (such as nanobots) to simulate zombification.
- Spiritual Zombification: Involves possession or soul corruption to mimic zombie-like states.
- Instantaneous Zombification: Immediate transformation upon contact or death.
Possible Limitations
- Characters resistant to Disease Manipulation or Corruption may be immune or harder to convert.
- The process may be halted by severing the infected area early (e.g., removing a bitten limb).
- Some forms of zombification require proximity, rituals, or extended time to take effect.
- Zombified beings may be mindless and difficult to control unless specified otherwise.
