Giyu Tomioka is a protagonist of the manga and anime series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. As a stoic and highly respected swordsman, Giyu serves as one of the ten elite Demon Slayers known as the Pillars. In particular, Giyu is the Water Pillar, as he specializes in the Water Breathing style. Not only is Giyu the first Pillar met in the series, but also the first Demon Slayer to appear as well, serving as distant support and guidance for Tanjiro Kamado.
As a boy, Giyu witnessed his older sister Tsutako sacrifice herself in order to protect him from demons. Hoping to avenge her, Giyu became a pupil of the former-Water Pillar, Sakonji Urokodaki, where he met another boy that would soon become his best friend, Sabito. Unfortunately, during the Final Selection, Sabito too would perish and allow for Giyu's life to continue.
From that day on, Giyu honed his skills to the point where he became a Pillar, though he never truly felt deserving of the title. He would soon come to meet Tanjiro and his demonic sister, Nezuko Kamado, who he sympathized with. Against all orders from his peers in the Pillars, Giyu protected Nezuko, certain that Tanjiro would find a way to cure her.
Name: Giyu Tomioka
Origin: Demon Slayer
Gender: Male
Age: 21 years old
Classification: Human, Demon Slayer, Water Pillar
Status: Alive
Alignment: Chaotic Good (Although he tries to put on a front of being completely professional and emotionless, Giyu cannot overcome his own personal attachments. He risked his life to make sure Nezuko Kamado wouldn't be killed, actively disobeying and standing up against the authorities in order to ensure her survival. He even actively fought one of the Pillars to save her, proving his secret knack for disobedience)
Tier: 8-A, Higher with Demon Slayer Mark
Cardinality: Finite
Dimensionality: 3-D
Attack Potency: City District level (As a Pillar, Giyu should be comparable to Kanao Tsuyuri, as she was directly compared to Pillars; Kanao is superior to a severely weakened Doma, who could instantly create a giant ice sculpture), Higher with Demon Slayer Mark (Awakening a Demon Slayer Mark will grant the user greater power than usual)
Durability: City District level, Higher with Demon Slayer Mark
Striking Strength: City District Class, Higher with Demon Slayer Mark
Lifting Strength: Class 25 (As a Pillar, Giyu should be capable of everything required in Pillar Training, including pushing a large boulder across a town)
Travel Speed: At least Superhuman, likely Higher (Could move faster than an untrained eye could detect)
Attack Speed: At least High Hypersonic (Should be comparable to Tanjiro Kamado, as Tanjiro was directly compared to the Pillars; Tanjiro could attack in tandem with his Full Focus Mode, which has Tanjiro mimic Zenitsu Agatsuma's Thunder Breathing, allowing for movement at this speed)
Reaction Speed: At least High Hypersonic
Stamina: At least Peak Human (A part of Demon Slayer training is to destroy a giant gourd with breath alone, when even destroying a small gourd seems unfathomable to regular humans)
Range: Standard Melee, Extended Melee with Nichirin Sword
Intelligence: Genius Intelligence (Giyu has been a Demon Slayer active in combat for several years, ever since he was a boy, and has fought incredibly powerful demons on countless occasions. This includes being able to keep up with Akaza, and Mizan Kibutsuji to an extent, who have both been alive for countless years)
Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Weapon Mastery (Wields a sword with great proficiency), Regeneration (Low; Total Concentration Breathing allows for Demon Slayers to cease a hemorrhage), Air Manipulation (Whirlpool has Giyu create a whirlwind of air that slices through opponents; it is more effective when used underwater), Immortality Negation (Type 1, 3, & 7; Nichrin Sword's are made of a type of metal that can kill demons when normal weapons cannot, as demons can survive fatal strikes such as decapitation much like the undead), Heat Manipulation & Regeneration Negation (High-Mid; Is able to obtain a Bright Red Nichirin Sword, which burn on contact, and are able to slow the regeneration of Muzan Kibutsuji to the point where it seems to have come to a halt. Muzan's regeneration is far faster than that of any other demon)
Resistance to: Fire Manipulation, Water Manipulation, Heat Manipulation, & Cold Manipulation (Demon Slayer Corps garbs resist water and flame, as well as heat and cold), Limited Poison Manipulation (A Demon Slayer's breath can slow the spread of venom), Limited Acid Manipulation (A much weaker Demon Slayer was able to survive a fairly long period of time within acid potent enough to dissolve his clothing), Limited Sleep Manipulation (A highly trained Demon Slayer's sensitivity allows for them to break through unconsciousness if someone with bloodlust is near)
Blue Nichirin Sword, Bright Red Nichirin Sword (when under extreme stress)
A Breathing Style that has been directly derived from the original Breathing Style, Sun Breathing. It mimics water, specifically the flow, flexibility and adaptability of the liquid, replicated by the movements of its user. Most, if not all of the Water Breathing forms involve bending the body in a fluid motion. Visually, it appears as though the user is creating and manipulating water itself.
Weaknesses: Following the battle with Muzan Kibutsuji, Giyu lost his right arm. Note that his career as a Demon Slayer preceeds this event, however, so having both of his arms is standard.
