Background

Hollow Knight is a 2017 Metroidvania video game developed and published by independent developer Team Cherry. In the game, the player controls The Knight, a nameless insectoid warrior, who explores Hallownest, a kingdom fallen due to a mysterious plague. The game is set in diverse subterranean locations, and it features friendly and hostile insectoid characters and numerous bosses. Players have the opportunity to unlock new abilities as they explore each location, along with pieces of lore and flavor text that are spread throughout the kingdom.

Power of the Verse

Hollow Knight despite the game's cast being small bugs are extremely powerful for their size. Despite their size they are superhuman in both strength and speed, being capable of breaking entire floors apart during boss fights.

The verse also has a variety of abilities including Soul Manipulation, Absorption, Essence Manipulation, Regeneration (Mid-Godly), Resurrection, Conceptual Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, Corruption, Sealing, Body Puppetry, Existence Erasure, Dimensional Travel, Immortality, and more.

Explanations

• SOUL: SOUL is an ability anyone within Hollow Knight can utilize. Any character within the series can remove one's SOUL and absorb it by simply attacking their enemy. This ability has been officially recognized by in-game lore and its official manual. Every character can remove The Knight's Masks when attacking him, and thus every character has the ability to remove SOUL.

• Dream Realm: A dream realm is a world created by one's thoughts, memories, and essence. It is a location beyond the plane of the Waking World where time is ineffective there. Many of the beings who reside there are stronger variations of pre-existing characters, of which are made up by the essence.

Verse Scaling

Nearly every boss throughout the game are comparable or even superior to False Knight, who can break part of a bridge. Most characters by the end of the game scale to The Knight, The Radiance, or The Hollow Knight.
