~ Flurrie to Mario

Background

Madame Flurrie, commonly known as simply Flurrie, is Mario's third party member in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. She is a wind spirit, as well as a slightly pompous retired actress who eventually resumes her career at the end of the game. Her face resembles Wendy O. Koopa, while her hair resembles Ludwig von Koopa's hair. Her ability is to blow out large amounts of wind, as hinted at by her name, which comes from "flurry", meaning a small burst of wind. In the overworld, she can blow wind which makes incoming enemies dizzy and blows away flaps in the enviroment, in order to reveal hidden objects or passageways, similar to Watt from Paper Mario and Fleep in Super Paper Mario. Since she is not on the ground, she is unaffected by quake attacks like the Earth Quake item.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Fighter's Intuition (Defeated the Glitz Pit champion Rawk Hawk in a fight), Accelerated Development (Flurrie became powerful enough to surpass herself when she had the Crystal Stars, which were used to weaken the Shadow Queen. In which no character was able to deal any damage to her. As shown in the Bonetail battle, Flurrie no longer needs them to harm someone who's above The Shadow Queen. Bonetail was stated by Goombella to be stronger than the Shadow Queen. And added with his better stats, it makes a lot of sense. Prior to that, Mario and co. couldn't harm the Armored Harriers at all, even losing the battle. Up until Mini-Yoshi came, they were able to defeat them, twice. The cast was then able to defeat the rest of the Glitz Pit fighters, each one being ranked higher than the other. They were able to defeat Bowser, who was able to one-shot Rawk Hawk, a previous boss. Shadow Peach [the Shadow Queen's weaker form], one-shots Grodus, another previous boss. Mario and co. also survives that exact attack), Social Influencing (By either using Appeal or Stylish Moves, Flurrie can cheer up an entire audience. Even to those who initially wanted her hurt or dead are charmed), Flight (Flurrie naturally floats in the air), Air Manipulation & Battlefield Removal (With Gale Force, Flurrie can blow a strong wind to blow away enemies from a battle), Life Manipulation, Healing, & Absorption (With Lip Lock, Flurrie kisses the enemy which grains their health, healing herself), Power Bestowal & Statistics Amplification (With Dodgy Fog, Flurrie can make someone dodgy, which increases their evasive skills), Incorporeality, Intangibility, & Undead Physiology (Flurrie naturally exists as a Wind Spirit), Self-Sustenance (Respiratory Self-Sustenance; All partners can breathe on the moon), Non-Standard Interaction (All partners can harm Boos), Regeneration (Mid; All partners can come back from being squished by the stage hazards), Body Control (All partners can use the Cursed Box's curses, which allows you to become an airplane, boat, and tube), Save and Load & Time Manipulation (All partners can use Save Blocks to save their data).

Resistance to Heat (All partners can run near fire), Cold (All partners are unaffected by snowy areas and space), Transmutation (All partners seem to be unaffected by Doopliss' ability to turn people into pigs), Cosmic Radiations (Can stay in space just fine), Sleep Manipulation (All partners can stare at a Sleepy Sheep, which makes you fall asleep from just looking at it), Absorption & Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation; All partners resists the Shadow Queen's hands, which she can use to absorb the victims and their souls), Conceptual Manipulation/Paint Manipulation. With Guard or Superguard, she can guard/parry/negate (on a greater scale): Physical attacks, Absorption (Parries Fuzzies, Swoopers, and the Shadow Queen from absorbing health and FP), Fire Manipulation (Parries fire from Fire Bro, Bowser, Ember, Lava Bubble, Phantom Ember, Hooktail, X-Nauts, Grodus, Vivian), Poison Manipulation (Parries poison attacks from Bowser, Poison Pokey, Putrid Piranha, Poison Puffs, Gloomtail, Beldam, and the Shadow Queen), Explosion Manipulation (Parries explosions from Bob-ombs and Bobbery), Ice Manipulation (Parries ice attacks from Frost Piranha, Ice Puffs, Bonetail, Grodus, Beldam), Sound Manipulation, Sleep Manipulation (Parries sleep inducement from Crazee Dayzees and Bonetail), Electricity Manipulation (Parries lightning attacks from Dark Puffs, Dark Wizzerd, Wizzerd, Elite Wizzerd, Grodus, Marilyn, Shadow Queen), Statistics Reduction, Paralysis Inducement, Size Manipulation (Parries attacks that shrink Mario from Bonetail, X-Nauts, Beldam), Time Stop & Time Manipulation (Parries attacks that slow and freeze time from Grodus and Beldam), Power Nullification (Parries Bowser's command removal, Shadow Queen and Beldam's status effect remover), Vibration Manipulation (Parries earthquakes from Gloomtail and Magnus), Fragrance Manipulation (Parries damage inducing breath from Gloomtail and the Shadow Queen), Mind Manipulation (Parries attacks that induce confusion from Bonetail), Darkness Manipulation (Parries the Shadow Queen's Dark Wave), Magic (Parries magic from a Magikoopa and Kammy), Status Effect Inducement

"If you're familiar with things like Popeye and some of the old comic characters, you would oftentimes see this cast of characters that takes on different roles depending on the comic or cartoon," Miyamoto said. "They might be businessman in one [cartoon] or a pirate in another. Depending on the story that was being told, they would change roles. So, to a certain degree, I look at our characters in a similar way and feel that they can take on different roles in different games."
