| ~ Block Man |
Background
Block Man is a Robot Master that first appeared in Mega Man 11. He is a small, stout robot created to work on exterior constructions, being able to create blocks one after another.
In combat, he uses his Special Weapon, Block Dropper, to form blocks out of thin air above his opponents to try and crush them. When in a pinch, he uses the Power Gear installed by Dr. Wily to cover his body with blocks and transform into a gigantic robot, increasing his physical strength. This gigantic form has its own life gauge. When his giant form is destroyed, he will move to a corner and constantly throw blocks.

Prior to the events of the game, Block Man is first seen at Dr. Light's lab for his annual maintenance. He later rushes back to the lab once Dr. Wily barges in. However, he was soon captured with the rest of the Robot Masters and reprogrammed by Wily. Block Man, when he is reprogrammed, is vain, headstrong, thick as a brick, and has "an ego the size of a pyramid." In his usual programming, however, he can be full of energy, although he has a bit of a temper. He secretly dreams of building a vast structure that recreates the bygone age of pyramids and temples. He's friends with Impact Man, and the two are sometimes seen at an oil bar to share a drink. However, Block Man will not take kindly to strangers mocking him in any harsh manner; this is proven in the opening cutscene where Dr. Wily refers to Block Man (along with the rest of the Robot Masters) as a test subject, something the latter strongly finds offensive. According to his in-game bio, Block Man always have his fellow employee robots keep up with major construction projects. However, his temper tends to flare up if any of the worker bots are slacking off and not working hard enough. The first part of Block Man's battle is fairly simple; he'll start off by running back and forth across the room. However, if Mega Man fires, Block Man will stop in place for a second and then jump to his position which can easily be avoided by sliding. Block Man will then proceed to use his Block Dropper to damage Mega Man by creating four turquoise stone blocks above him which fall to the ground. This can be avoided by either sliding to the other side of the screen out of the blocks' range, standing in a space between the falling blocks or by utilizing Fuse Man's Scramble Thunder to destroy one of the blocks over Mega Man's head. Once he loses about a third of his health, Block Man will activate his Power Gear. He will shoot up through the ceiling with chunks of stones in the area following in his wake, transforming him into a giant stone golem as he crashes back down to the room. In this giant form, Block Man gains another health bar and will slowly advance towards Mega Man. He will attack by slamming the ground with his hands, throwing powerful punches and scraping the ground with his fingers to send large stone chunks flying toward Mega Man which can all be avoided easily by dodging and sliding with the help of the Speed Gear if one finds it necessary. While Block Man himself serves as the head of the golem, he is completely invulnerable during this time. In order to defeat him in this state, Mega Man must fire at the large red core in the middle of his chest, which is his only weak point. Good use of the Power Gear can easily shave off Block Man's health and end this process much faster. Finally, once the second health bar is depleted, Block Man's giant form will be destroyed and he will now be back to his original health bar as he falls flat on his face to the ground. However, Block Man will become enraged afterwards, jumping to his feet and rushing to the opposite side of the room from Mega Man to throw an endless barrage of stone blocks his way using his Block Dropper. Mega Man's Charge Shots can easily pierce through the stones to hit Block Man, though he jumps as he creates his stones which allows for him to avoid the shots if they aren't timed correctly. The barrage itself can be avoided by either sliding or jumping depending on the trajectory of the stones. The Speed Gear can make dodging easier here as well. So in short, through the use of Charge Shots (since they can pierce through his blocks), the Double Gear System and platforming skills to dodge his stones, Block Man will eventually be defeated. When exploiting his weakness to Blast Man's Chain Blast, it is recommended to use Power Gear, as it is easier to damage him faster with the powered-up version as long as the aim is correct, particularly in dealing with Block Man's giant form. For the final phase, as the giant bomb from Chain Blast cannot completely get through the blocks he throws, it is recommended to be close when using it as the large blast from the explosion would be capable of hitting Block Man at point-blank range. Just be careful of the weapon energy consumption though. In the Superhero difficulty, Block Man will make fifteen turquoise blocks above Mega Man in three rows of five instead of four, and jump much faster. The blocks can easily be avoided by standing close by quickly sliding to the side of the room opposite from Block Man and out of their range. On all modes, standing close to Block Man will make him spawn the blocks in such a way that they do not reach the opposite side of him, allowing the player to slide there to safety. This method is dodging is much more helpful on Superhero due to the extra blocks. Block Man takes more damage before turning into his giant form, which attacks much faster, having much less time between each of his attacks. In the final phase of his battle, Block Man will jump between each corner of the screen after throwing a certain number of blocks |

- Immortality
- Impact Resistance
- Regeneration
- Type: Conditional
- Source: Metaphysical Regeneration
- Capabilities: Through specific scenarios, one's data can restore their body throughout the Classic Era all the way to the ZX era. In Rockman & Forte: Mirai Kara no Chōsensha, Rockman Shadow's data comes out of his deceased body[102] and regenerates a new body at the very end post-credits of the game[103]. In Mega Man Xtreme, Sigma was trying to reproduce the past data of several mavericks in the mother computer to bring havoc to the world's peace[104] and the only way the past data of previously defeated Mavericks from X1 and X2 could be stopped is if X goes inside as his data form[105]. Inside the Mother Computer, X defeats Vile's data form along with the data forms of a bunch of mavericks he has previously defeated[106]. However, despite defeating their data form, their data is still are able to come back for the rematches at the end of the game along with Vile being back in the hard mode's post game story. Despite destroying Vile's data twice, he was still able to come back and better than ever in Mega Man X8. In Mega Man ZX, Omega's soul data along with flashes of the past battle in Zero 3 are trapped in area O and even after defeat, he can come back without limit even after obtaining Model OX which contains his soul data[107]. With data further being explored through here.
- Resurrection (Repeated Resurrection, Resurrection of the Deceased; Robots that are fought and defeated[108] are able to be brought back[109] as long as they still have their data[110], with this also[111] extending to reploids[112] being able to come back for rematches[113]. With data further being explored through here)
- Non-Standard Interaction (Abstract Interaction; Can directly interact with[114], harm[115], and destroy[116] a robots data[117], which all robots[118] "true existences"[119] rely on[120] their data[121], thus as long as their[122][123] data is stored they can be remade or come back if their data is specifically "SAVED"[124]. All data resides in the deep log[125] of each game's data[126] and information of the Mega Man Franchise[127] and many other Capcom franchises[128], with it being stated that data makes up the characters' personality[129], memories are data pieces that can be used to materialize hunter programs and also have the feelings of the characters[130], their data is even what determines their own canonicity in reality[131], with all characters being considered[132] data[133] alongside all universes[134] being made of[135] data[136]. With data further being explored through here).
- Resistance to
- Extreme Heats, Extreme Colds, & Weather Manipulation (Robot Masters[137] are made[138] to[139] withstand[140] extreme[141] terrains[142] and weather conditions)
- Cosmic Radiations (All Robot Masters can breathe and survive in space just fine, with an entire game revolving around traveling through space[143])
- Mind Manipulation and Soul Manipulation (Despite how active Robot Masters are they do not actually possess the feeling to think, feel, and make decisions of their own as this level of technology wasn't realized until the reploids of the X era. Along with Reploids having something closer to a human soul then any robot Robot Master has. Robot Masters have a "consciousness" though it is different from the standard humans consciousness as it's at the level of a "cognitive circuit" embedded inside each one of them[144])
- Information Manipulation & Conceptual Manipulation (Can take hits from characters that can directly interact with, harm, and destroy a robots data, which all robots "true existences" rely on their data, thus as long as their data is stored they can be remade or come back if their data is specifically "SAVED". All data resides in the deep log of each game's data and information of the Mega Man Franchise and many other Capcom franchises, with it being stated that data makes up the characters' personality, memories are data pieces that can be used to materialize hunter programs and also have the feelings of the characters, their data is even what determines their own canonicity in reality, with all characters being considered data alongside all universes being made of data. With data further being explored through here)
- Plot Manipulation (As data determines one's canonicity in reality and all universes are made of data, one would need to fully change one's data in order to change their narrative. With data further being explored through here)
- Electricity Manipulation (At least 10,000,000 Watts; Robot Masters are able to tank and survive attacks from electricity-based Robot Masters attacks, even those with a weakness can survive hits from it, with Robot Masters like Bright Man, unleashing 10 million watts)
- Heat Manipulation & Fire Manipulation (7000-8000 degrees Farenheit (?)[145]; Robot Masters are able to tank and survive attacks from heat and fire-based Robot Masters attacks, even those with a weakness can survive hits from it and survive the intense heats, with Robot Masters like Fire Man, having heat that reaches 7000 to 8000 degrees)
- Magma Manipulation (Robot Masters are able to tank and survive attacks from magma based Robot Masters attacks, even those with a weakness can survive hits from it)
- Ice Manipulation & Absolute Zero (0 K; Robot Masters are able to tank and survive attacks from ice based Robot Masters attacks, even those with a weakness can survive hits from it, even with ice as cold as absolute zero)
- Gravity Manipulation (3-D; Robot Masters are able to tank and survive attacks from gravity based Robot Masters attacks, even those with a weakness can survive hits from it)
- Black Holes (Robot Masters are able to tank and survive attacks from black hole based Robot Masters attacks, even those with a weakness can survive hits from it)
- Petrification (Robot Masters are able to tank and survive attacks from petrification based Robot Masters attacks, even those with a weakness can survive hits from it, with the petrification being potent enough to effect black holes)
- Acid Manipulation & Corrosion Inducement (Robot Masters are able to tank and survive attacks from acid & corrosive based Robot Masters attacks, even those with a weakness can survive hits from it)
- Transmutation (Robot Masters and others are unaffected by the effects of the[146] the mystery tank, which turns all weak enemies on screen into extra lives[147])
- Space-Time Manipulation (3+1-D) & Battlefield Removal (Dimensional Removal (3+1-D); Robot masters are able to tank and survive attacks from the likes of Centaur Flash[148], which creates a dimensional distortion where he warps space and sends an opponent into a black hole[149], with even Robot Masters that have a weakness to it surviving its hits and not being sent into a black hole[150]. Robot Masters can also take hits from Cut Man who can cut through space itself and leave dimensional tears that he can jump in[151])
Earth Manipulation & Curtain Fire (Can create blocks to attack from the sky), Size Manipulation (His power gear allows him to grow massively in size, greatly increasing his strength), Statistics Amplification (With the power gear system, amplifies a robots power to far greater then before), Power Modification (The Power Gear amplifies the various robot master weapons into far more powerful variations of the weapons)
- Power Gear: Power Gear is a red gear that increases the power of robots. When used by Mega Man it makes his default shots bigger (but he can only fire two at a time instead of three) and allows him to shoot two Charge Shots together (a regular charged shot followed by a red colored charge shot), knocking Mega Man back a little due to its power. The Power Gear also increases the power of his Special Weapons. If the Mega Buster is fully charged when the meter reaches its limit, it will be possible to fire an extra-powerful Final Charge Shot, but at the price that the cooldown period from overheating cannot be prevented. Notably even if the gauge meter reaches maximum, Mega Man will not enter cooldown mode while charging until he either fires the Charge Shot, deactivates the gear, or is damaged. If the Shock Absorber part is installed, it can prevent the recoil effect from using these special Charge Shots.
Notable Techniques
- Block Dropper: Block Dropper is Block Man's Special Weapon in Mega Man 11. Block Man can spawn four heavy stone blocks in the air that will fall and crush enemies beneath them. If used in tandem with the Power Gear, the weapon will instead spawn sixteen blocks, making for much greater destruction to enemies.
Other
Standard Tactics: Block Man will run around and spawn blocks on the enemy, if he takes too much damage he will use the power gears to emerge into a giant, colossal form.
Weaknesses: Has a weakness to Blast Man's chain blast. If his data is corrupted, he will be incapable of coming back.
Trivia
- The line Block Man shouts for his death line is similar to an iconic insult from Peanuts.
- Block Man was the first Robot Master from Mega Man 11 revealed to the public. During development he was tentatively named Renga Man (レンガマン Rengaman, lit. "Brick Man").[152]
- Apparently, Block Man is one of Dr. Light's most beloved creations,[152] despite his designation as "DWN. 081" rather than "DLN. 081", so he may have been a joint project between Nakaume Heavy Machinery and Light Labs. Block Man confirms that Light built him "rock solid" in the game. If Block Man does in fact have a DLN number it may be different from his DWN number.
- Block Man is the only Robot Master from Mega Man 11 whose gear can only activate once.
- He is also one of two bosses to have a different amount of phases other than two, possessing three. Doctor Wily is another, as he has six phases during his battle, with his first two pitting Mega Man against his eleventh Wily Machine and the last four being against the machine's capsule form.
- Block Man's giant form appears to be based on the Yellow Devil, having a similar pose from its appearance in Mega Man: The Power Battle, a red core as its weak point, and saying "bumo" after transforming in the Japanese version.[153]
- He is the only Robot Master that can be fought in the free demo released for Mega Man 11.[154]
- Block Man is similar to Stone Man from Mega Man 5 as both Robot Masters are made out of stone and summon stones out of thin air to throw at the player.
- Block Man's gallery bio states that he is best friends with Impact Man, with both robots having interest in drinking oil together; this is very similar to Stone Man being best friends with Guts Man (from the original Mega Man) and interested in drinking oil together as well.
- Another similarity between Block Man and Impact Man was they were also both built by Nakaume Heavy Machinery and are work buddies as they both were designed as construction robots.
- Block Man's gallery bio states that he is best friends with Impact Man, with both robots having interest in drinking oil together; this is very similar to Stone Man being best friends with Guts Man (from the original Mega Man) and interested in drinking oil together as well.
- Block Man is the first Robot Master in Mega Man 11 who has a giant form, the second being Impact Man.
- Block Man is one of four Robot Masters from Mega Man 11 who can be defeated before they get a chance to activate their Gear, the other three being Bounce Man, Blast Man, and Impact Man.[155]
- Block Man's personal quote in the Mega Man: Robot Master Field Guide, "You're just another brick in the wall!" may be a reference to the 1979 three-part composition Another Brick in the Wall by the English rock band Pink Floyd.

- ↑ By swapping out the program data of all the robots Dr. Wily has constructed, this robot is able to adapt other robots’ moves as its own. With the powers of all robots combined into one, this is truly one dreadful robot.
- ↑ This all-purpose robot can take on the same abilities of every other robot merely by switching its program data. Still, if it just copies the powers of robots that Rockman has already been able to defeat, one might expect for Rockman to overcome them again…

- ↑ PEACE HAS COME TO THE WORLD.
Dr. Wily has reformed, and he and Dr. Right have joined forces, working together to develop a giant peace-keeping robot named “GAMMA”.
“GAMMA”…… It was the life-long dream of Dr. Right, a giant robot to protect and serve world peace.
Their research almost complete, all that remained was to combine 8 energy elements that were scattered about the uncharted planets, and bestow them to “GAMMA”…
–However, each planet met with an unexpected incident. The robots who were mining the energy elements suddenly began going berserk!! Upon learning of this from Dr. Right, “ROCKMAN” immediately set out on a path for the uncharted planets–a new battle was about to begin!! - ↑ Q. Do robots like those made by Dr. Wily or Dr. Cossack have self-awareness, and can they talk? And do they run on solar energy like Rockman does?
A. I take it you’d like to know if Wily and Cossack’s robots possess “sentience”? Naturally, they each have a “consciousness”, although the level of every “cognitive circuit” embedded inside each one of them varies, producing as many different “personality” types as found in people… Just like you or I, they can speak, and have emotional responses like shyness, or anger, just as we do.
Regarding their energy systems, many of them do utilize “solar energy” in some way. - ↑ The exact type of degree isn't noted, but due to it being an American manual, it's likely referring to Farenheit
