Singular Existence

Background

Singular Existence refers to a metaphysical state where a being exists solely in one, singular form or point across the entirety of the space-time continuum. This unique condition means there are no past, future, or alternate versions of the user—no divergent timelines, no parallel universes, and no alternate selves. The individual is an unchanging constant in all of existence, existing only as they are at the present moment.

Because of this absolute singularity, the user becomes immune or highly resistant to abilities and phenomena that rely on temporal or multiversal manipulation. Precognitive abilities that depend on scanning multiple futures or branching possibilities cannot accurately detect them. Attempts to erase them from history or alter their fate by targeting past or future versions are rendered ineffective, as no other version of the user exists to be exploited. In many ways, the user’s existence defies conventional causality, establishing them as a fixed point in the fabric of reality.

Also Called

  • Temporal Singularity
  • Absolute Existence
  • Monolithic Existence

Possible Applications

  • Immunity to paradox-based abilities or effects, as there are no alternate selves to target or erase.
  • Resistance to abilities that scan or exploit alternate possibilities, such as precognition or multiversal viewing.
  • Immunity to attacks that rely on manipulating past or future selves, such as retroactive erasure or time-based aging.
  • Existence as a constant singularity allows the user to anchor themselves in reality, potentially negating illusions or manipulations tied to alternate possibilities.
  • Acts as a safeguard against certain forms of reality warping that rely on altering or rewriting different versions of an individual.

Practical Uses

  • Prevents adversaries from exploiting temporal or multiversal weaknesses, such as alternate selves being used as leverage or targets.
  • Renders the user’s actions untraceable by divination or foresight techniques that rely on scanning possible outcomes.
  • Allows the user to remain grounded and unchanging, offering a powerful defense against abilities that rely on shifting timelines or realities.
  • Could serve as a metaphysical anchor in unstable environments where reality is in flux or constantly rewriting itself.

Variations

  • Absolute Singular Existence: The user has no alternate selves across all time and space, fully immune to any effect relying on such counterparts.
  • Temporal Singular Existence: The user’s singularity is limited to a single timeline or dimension, still leaving them vulnerable in others.

Possible Limitations

  • Singular Existence does not inherently grant offensive or defensive abilities beyond the resistance to temporal and multiversal effects.
  • While highly resistant to fate-based or alternate-reality manipulation, the user can still be harmed or affected by direct attacks.
  • Some cosmic-level forces or conceptual beings might bypass or overwhelm the singularity, depending on the scale of their abilities.
  • Users with Singular Existence may be unable to benefit from time-traveling or alternate versions of themselves that could provide aid or insight.

Users

  • Zim (Invader Zim): Zim went around and killed every alternate timeline version of himself so that he becomes the one true Zim.
  • Glossaryck (Star vs. the Forces of Evil): Glossaryck is a singular constant in the universe, being created by the magic itself, lacking any alternate universe version of himself but rather alternatives.
  • Stephen (Megami Tensei): Stephen has become the same person throughout every part of the multiverse after entering the Cycle of Transmigration.
  • Madoka Kaname (Puella Magi): Madoka became a singularity within her universe after becoming a concept, losing her individuality completely and ceasing to exist to anyone as she never existed in any point in time.
