Background
Within the game’s narrative, Kevin Straker is portrayed as a cyborg law enforcement officer operating in the year 2010 AD under the Galaxy Police’s Heavy Crimes Division, bearing the designation Valentine Type MX-5. Equipped with a specialized energy projectile weapon, he is dispatched across multiple worlds to hunt parasitic organisms and their corrupted hosts, harvesting their energy to unlock interdimensional gateways and advance to subsequent battlefields.
Despite his mechanical nature, Kevin experiences physical pain when injured and senses an unnatural presence moving within his body. These anomalies eventually lead to a disturbing revelation: he himself is one of the parasites. Dr. Jose, a scientist involved in the parasite research, engineered Kevin as a living weapon intended to accumulate immense power and serve as a means to dominate the universe. Rejecting this purpose, Kevin confronts and defeats the doctor, afterward reflecting on the uncertain path that lies ahead.
Following this confrontation, headquarters contacts Kevin with new orders to apprehend or terminate a rogue terrorist cyborg. After briefly weighing his options, he resolves to continue his duty and makes his way back to Earth.
In the North American localization, the protagonist is renamed Ken. In this version, Ken is depicted as a former Street Fighter tournament champion who later pursued a career in science at Bargham University. Alongside his colleague Troy, he developed a substance known as Cyboplasm. When Troy is seemingly murdered and the Cyboplasm stolen, Ken enhances himself with bionic technology to track down the culprit, avenge his partner, and reclaim their invention. Throughout his journey, he suffers unexplained pain, which later proves to be the result of Troy’s deception—his friend had staged his own death, experimented on Ken using Cyboplasm, and erased his memories of the incident. Troy ultimately invites Ken to join him in a scheme to conquer the world, but Ken refuses, leading to a final battle between the two. Afterward, Ken is ordered to return to Earth to confront the spreading Cyboplasm threat, now rampant across the planet.
Appearance
General Description: Kevin Striker is a tall, broad-shouldered cybernetic law enforcer with a powerfully built, athletic physique. His body proportions emphasize strength and durability, with thick limbs and a rigid stance that reflects both advanced augmentation and military conditioning. His posture is confident and imposing, reinforcing his role as a futuristic combat officer.
Facial Features: Kevin has short, slicked-back blond hair and a stern, hardened expression. His most distinctive facial feature is a single red cybernetic eye, partially concealed behind a dark visor that covers his upper face. His jawline is square and pronounced, giving him a stoic and authoritative appearance.
Clothing/Outfit: Kevin wears a full-body, metallic-gray combat bodysuit engineered for high-risk engagements. The suit is tightly fitted and segmented, with reinforced plating along the torso, shoulders, arms, and legs, giving it a sleek yet armored appearance. A yellow star emblem is displayed prominently on his right shoulder, signifying his authority and affiliation. The suit features subtle blue accents, including a visible marking along his thigh and illuminated components around the wrists and boots. His gloves and boots are integrated into the suit, maintaining a seamless, utilitarian design intended for combat efficiency rather than decoration.
Special Features: Kevin’s cybernetic enhancements are immediately apparent through his red mechanical eye and the advanced nature of his bodysuit, which appears to interface directly with his body. The suit’s reflective surface and glowing details suggest enhanced strength, speed, and combat capability beyond normal human limits.
Alternate Forms/Disguises: None shown.
Personality
- Identity and Self-Perception: Kevin Striker initially defines himself strictly as MX-5, a cyborg created by the Galaxy Police to carry out extermination orders. He views his existence as functional and mission-oriented, showing little concern for personal identity beyond his assigned role.
- Obedience to Authority: He follows orders without hesitation, carrying out seek-and-destroy missions against the Parasites with a strong sense of duty. His dialogue reflects compliance rather than ideological conviction, indicating he acts because he is commanded to do so.
- Emotional Conflict: Despite believing himself to be a cyborg, Kevin experiences pain and discomfort, which deeply unsettles him. This contradiction causes growing confusion and distress, as he struggles to understand why he can feel suffering at all.
- Inner Humanity: The pain he experiences is later framed as proof that he is not purely mechanical. This revelation destabilizes his sense of self and suggests an underlying human consciousness that persists beneath his conditioning.
- Resistance to Manipulation: When confronted with the truth of his origin as a Parasite and offered relief in exchange for submission, Kevin refuses. His rejection indicates an internal moral boundary and an unwillingness to surrender his autonomy, even when promised freedom from pain.
- Determination: Kevin shows resolve when challenged, responding with hostility when threatened or manipulated. He continues to pursue justice against his target despite emotional turmoil and existential revelations.
- Silence and Reflection: Following the revelation of his true nature, Kevin becomes noticeably quiet. His lack of response suggests internal processing rather than acceptance, indicating a character marked by introspection rather than emotional expression.
- Continuing Sense of Duty: Even after learning the truth about himself, Kevin ultimately resumes his role and answers the Galaxy Police’s call. This implies that, despite his shaken identity, he chooses action and responsibility over retreat or despair.
Goals
- Kill the parasites and stop the threat to the galaxy (Succeeded).
- Stop the cyborgs taking over the planet (Ongoing).

Sonic Blade
- Description: The Sonic Blade is a short-range energy projectile emitted from Kevin Striker’s (Ken’s) cybernetic systems. Despite appearing as a ranged weapon, it behaves more like a close-quarter energy slash, requiring precise positioning to use effectively.
- Function: When Kevin punches or kicks, the Sonic Blade is released as a burst of sonic-charged energy. It cannot be fired straight across the screen, cannot hit distant enemies, and cannot be used while crouching. Its design focuses on aggressive, up-close combat rather than long-range attacks.
- Combat Use:
- Functions as Kevin’s primary offensive tool alongside his energy bullets.
- Requires mastery of spacing and timing due to its extremely limited firing angles.
- Becomes significantly stronger when powered up, but taking damage reduces its strength.
- Pairs well with Kevin’s invincible flip jump, allowing players to reposition before striking.
- Notable Traits:
- True to classic Capcom design, the Sonic Blade is powerful when mastered but punishing to inexperienced players.
- Its unusual firing mechanics contribute to the game’s high difficulty, requiring deliberate movement and commitment to attacks.
Notable Techniques
Energy Bullet Stream
Kevin can project concentrated bursts of energy from his cybernetic systems, allowing him to strike enemies from a distance with rapid, forceful shots.
Sonic Blade Strikes
By channeling vibrational power through his limbs, Kevin unleashes cutting sonic waves during his punches and kicks, giving his close-quarters attacks enhanced destructive force.
Invincible Flip Jump
Kevin performs a swift acrobatic flip that renders him briefly untouchable, letting him slip out of danger or reposition himself without taking damage.
Flip Shield Generation
When equipped with a Shield Capsule, Kevin’s flip jump creates rotating energy barriers beneath his feet. These shields both protect him and act as an offensive extension of his movement.
Other
Standard Tactics: Kevin utilizes sonic blades and energy projectiles with his punches and kicks while flipping around.
Weaknesses: Kevin isn't able to shoot the Sonic Blade weapon directly straight or crouch and fire[66]. When Kevin has gained enough power to open a dimensional door, he only has 10 seconds to enter the door once it's open or his body will be destroyed[67].
Trivia
