Status: Alive in True Ending (in the True Ending, Matt survives until dawn and is taken to interrogation[4]), possibly Deceased with Player Choice (with certain choices that change the course of the story, Matt can be killed by being pushed off of a cliff by deer[5], being hung through the jaw with a hook by a Wendigo[6], or having his face smashed in by a Wendigo[7])

Alignment: Chaotic Good (Matt is described as a very nice guy with not much to dislike[8]. He's someone with a very evidently big heart[9], who wants everybody around him to be happy and taken care of[10]. He cares enough to make sure he's not hurting Jessica even during a tense situation[11], and ask the interrogators about Emily's condition above all else[12]. However, he isn't without his flaws, as he is able to physically fight Mike over mere speculation[13], and was the one to record the prank played on Hannah[14]. It is also worth noting that he did not call out for Hannah when she ran into the woods[15]), possibly Chaotic Neutral with Player Choice (with certain choices that change the course of the story, Matt can become a far worse person than he is initially. He can chide Emily about the way she treats him or over her relationship with Mike while in a life or death situation[16], attack a herd of deer without much provocation[17], or purposefully abandon Jessica to die in order to save his own life[18])
