“ | Legend says the spirit of the dirt, known as the Earth Vellumental lives in this very cave. It is a mighty spirit, imbued with the power to lift the very ground! | „ |

The Earth Vellumental is a Vellumental and the first boss fought in Paper Mario: The Origami King. It is a giant origami turtle with a color scheme that makes it resemble a Koopa Troopa. Powers and Techniques
Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Natural Weaponry, Large Size (Supersized; As shown here), Paint Manipulation which includes: Conceptual Manipulation (Paint makes up everything, anyone in Mario can remove paint by attacking), Life Manipulation & Death Manipulation (Paint is all of life, and removal of it can cause a person or object to have no life within, having their concept of life be removed), Blood Manipulation (Paint makes up all of blood within someone, removing it is the same as removing their blood), Mind Manipulation & Memory Manipulation (Paint makes up the mind, as paint beings can directly speak to your mind by coloring your thoughts. Loss of paint can also remove your mind and memories), Spatial Manipulation (Paint makes up all of space. Removing it makes space as if it was solid), Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation; Paint makes up souls and ghosts. Removing it is the equivalent of destroying your soul), Empathic Manipulation (Paint makes up all emotions. Removing it would mean the removal of emotion), Power Nullification (Paint makes up the ability to use powers. Removing it would mean the removal of using powers). BFR and Law Manipulation (Folded soldiers in the Origami King are able to send their opponents to a ringed battlefield regardless of where they are and forces their opponents to align the rings to fight. The Origami Vellumentals do this as well along with being able to affect how the ring system works), Sand Manipulation (With Sandblast, the Earth Vellumental spits 3 bursts of sands at their opponents), Vibration Manipulation (With Rough Landing, Tremor Tail, Mega Earthquake and Earthquake), Earth Manipulation (Shown here), Healing (With Terrepair, The Earth Vellumental can heal itself completely), Power Bestowal (Upon defeat, the Earth Vellumental turned itself into instructions for Olivia to fold into it and put its power into Magic Circles so Olivia can unleash it).

Notable Techniques
- Sandblast: The boss spits dirt three times at Mario, dealing 5 damage per hit.
- Earthquake: The boss hits the ground with one of its legs, creating an earthquake on the column of spaces where Mario is, dealing 8 damage.
- Tremor Tail: The boss turns around and smashes its tail on Mario, dealing about 12 damage.
- Rough Landing: The boss jumps and pounds the ground with its shell, dealing 5 damage.
- Mega Earthquake: The boss charges for two turns and afterwards jumps high in its shell and hits the ground, creating an earthquake that covers the entire arena and causes massive damage.
- Terrepair: The boss heals itself completely and exposes all of its limbs, returning to its first phase.
Other
Standard Tactics: The Earth Vellumental can spit sand, create an earthquake with its legs, smash the ground with its tail, create shockwaves by slamming its shell on the ground, and heal itself entirely.
Weaknesses: It's tail is its weak point and being flipped over leaves it vulnerable.
Note: In Paper Mario Color Splash, the main point of the game is paint. Paint is a concept. As shown in the game, paint encompasses everything. And I mean everything. Paint is shown to be all of land, liquid, life (Once bringing Toad back via paint, Huey states that paint gives life. Additionally, paint can return the blood, organs, and skin to an old fossil that's been dead years ago), mind (Paint can speak to your mind by coloring your thoughts. Paint was able to take over Bowser's body and freely act on their own. Big Paint Stars are also shown to be alive), memory (Toad couldn't remember anything with the loss of paint on his head. Returning paint gave his memories back), emotions, space (even simple holes require paint to function as holes) and souls. Removing any paint would stop making anything work. It's everything.

- ↑ "If you're familiar with things like Popeye and some of the old comic characters, you would oftentimes see this cast of characters that takes on different roles depending on the comic or cartoon," Miyamoto said. "They might be businessman in one [cartoon] or a pirate in another. Depending on the story that was being told, they would change roles. So, to a certain degree, I look at our characters in a similar way and feel that they can take on different roles in different games."
