Background

Boyfriend is the protagonist of Friday Night Funkin'. He is on a mission to gain approval to date his Girlfriend, but must sing-off against her father Daddy Dearest and many other characters that stand in his way.

Phantom notes that if he ever had the time drawings what he posts regarding FNF, there would be extra cutscenes for losing and such, which includes Boyfriend being shot in the head by Pico and being overall unaffected), Limited Sound Mimicry (Can mimic all of the songs and beats a person plays perfectly), Absorption (Friday Night Funkin' characters are able to drain their opponents health by their opponent missing the notes of their song and by currently winning the rap battle), Durability Negation (Should scale to every other rapper, who can break his bones if he gets out-rapped), Possibly Non-Physical Interaction (Potentially incapped the spirit, as after defeating him in a rap battle he does not get possessed), Resistance to Broadway Force & Social Influencing (Unaffected by Skid and Pump’s Spooky Dance, doing the Spooky Dance or even announcing it's the Spooky Month, they force everyone else to dance. Including dead people, spirits, demons, and monsters, and people from far distances), Possession (Wasn't possessed by the Spirit), Mind Manipulation (Was stated to not be able to be hypnotized or mindcontrolled into not loving Girlfriend.)

Implied to have just started learning how to rap in week 1)

Weaknesses: If he’s beaten in a rap battle, his bones will shatter. Though this is only a weakness in-verse as this is a specific ability all users share.

Note : The reason characters in Friday Night Funkin' share the same hax from singing is because rap battles are the main method of battle in Friday Night Funkin' and they have been shown to be deadly as Boyfriend breaks his bones through losing these battles and requires Girlfriend to rewind time so he can try again after his skeleton cracks and he dies. (The NSFW part specifically is a joke, Girlfriend revives him by setting the battle to the beginning just by sitting down on the speakers and can even do it while Boyfriend holds her as shown here) The official itch.io page directly states that characters such as Daddy Dearest are trying to kill him and not to die in the instructions with the only way of dying being to lose a rap battle. Daddy Dearest also hired Pico as a bounty hunter to kill Boyfriend and there are implications of even more going on during rap battles in canon. Characters that very clearly want to kill/possess Boyfriend and Girlfriend on the spot such as Monster and Spirit lead with starting a rap battle and singing. Boyfriend survives all of these situations unharmed by winning the rap battles. Tankman even implies that boyfriend was killed by losing the rap battle itself and and not to mention every character has a death icon when they are pushed all the way to the end of the bar that shows who is winning the rap battle.

Note 2: Normally lightning feats like this wouldn’t work but the reason this one is usable is that Girlfriend and Boyfriend react to the lightning the exact frame it strikes, before the sound even goes off.

Note 3: It has been essentially stated by Ninjamuffin that mods are canon, due to this we have set it so we can reasonably tier the mods side of Friday Night Funkin' without it becoming an incoherent scaling mess of unreasonably high statistics. Mods are allowed if they have their own week, have cutscenes, their own song charts, and have lore behind them. This means that character replacements, or a character replacing another character on a week are not allowed.
