"Mature Content"
This character or verse has mature themes and concepts, thus those of young age are ill-advised to look through these.

"In Development!"
This article or section is a profile based on an unfinished or demo version of a game. Information and statistics are prone to being changed or not being complete due to this.
Ah, a new fair maiden has come in search of true love! A serenade between gentleman shall decide where her beautiful heart shall reside
~ Senpai challenging Boyfriend
Not bad for an ugly worm. But this time I'll rip your nuts off right after your girlfriend finishes gargling mine.
~ Senpai insulting Boyfriend

Background

Senpai is one of the characters from the dating sim video game that belonged to Girlfriend and she used to play it a lot. While hanging out with Boyfriend, she finds it and decides to play it with him. However, they both ended up being pushed into the game by Daddy Dearest, likely as another attempt to torment or end Boyfriend's life. Soon after, they meet Senpai and he chivalrously challenges Boyfriend for Girlfriend's heart and affection. After being bested, he suddenly breaks character, quickly becoming angry and vulgar.

Having lost twice, Senpai is seen writhing before something violently bursts out of his face and destroys him. Spirit, the one trapped in the game, finally emerges in Senpai's place, causing the once bright location of the school grounds to become desolate, deserted and dark. Spirit then tries to possess Boyfriend as well as rap battling against him.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Inorganic Physiology (Non-Living Objects; Is a video game character that exists as a coded AI and is made of data[7]), Absorption (Friday Night Funkin' characters are able to drain their opponents health by their opponent missing the notes of their song and by currently winning the rap battle), Durability Negation (Can break all of Boyfriend's bones from the inside), Non-Standard Interaction (All rappers should be able to perform this for the same methods), Social Influencing (Because Senpai was within a dating simulator, it's likely that the girls in the background were charmed by him)

Equipment

Microphone

Other

Standard Tactics: Senpai sings.

Weaknesses: None notable

Note 1: If Senpai is defeated, Spirit will be released and will fight as well due to being within him as shown in his cutscene.

Note 2: The reason characters in Friday Night Funkin' share the same abilities from singing is because rap battles are the main method of battle in Friday Night Funkin' and they have been shown to be deadly as Boyfriend breaks his bones through losing these battles and requires Girlfriend to rewind time so he can try again after his skeleton cracks and he dies. (The NSFW part specifically is a joke, Girlfriend revives him by setting the battle to the beginning just by sitting down on the speakers and can even do it while Boyfriend holds her as shown here) The official itch.io page directly states that characters such as Daddy Dearest are trying to kill him and not to die in the instructions with the only way of dying being to lose a rap battle. Daddy Dearest also hired Pico as a bounty hunter to kill Boyfriend and there are implications of even more going on during rap battles in canon. Characters that very clearly want to kill/possess Boyfriend and Girlfriend on the spot such as Monster and Spirit lead with starting a rap battle and singing. Boyfriend survives all of these situations unharmed by winning the rap battles. Tankman even implies that boyfriend was killed by losing the rap battle itself and not to mention every character has a death icon when they are pushed all the way to the end of the bar that shows who is winning the rap battle. That same bar is also directly called a health bar by Phantom Arcade.
