Angels

Background

Mask: Masks are code encrypted mask that 'hack' into the wearer's brain and initiate commands. After someone puts on a Mask, they will begin to develop various physical enhancements and given a weapon or a high level skill. The most common enhancement shown is great strength and destructive force, almost every mask has been able to overpower any regular human they come across. However, not all Masks are equal, most can be beaten with numbers or out smarted by taking advantage of their programming. The Strong Masks however, are much more dangerous. In fact, anyone other than a Candidate for God or another Strong Mask has little to no hope of beating them. There are various different types of mask including:

  Smiling Mask

  Angry Mask

• 

  Emotionless Mask

• Smiling Mask: Smiling Mask, otherwise known as 'Angels', are the most commonly seen mask type. These masks are known to have three main commands, Despair, Murder, and Suicide.
• Angry Mask: Angry Masks have been given specific instructions or roles in the High Rise Realm. Their purpose is to prevent the termination of the realm or the creation of god. As of now there are three known Angry Masks, Dealer Mask and the Soldier Mask, and Miko Mask. Unlike the smiling mask, they are able to talk and seems to have a retained consciousness. They are also referred to as Guardian Angels. They do not attack humans unless they sense hostility or an attempt at their life which activates the Protect Command, an order to kill that human. They have knowledge of the locations of vital items through a special program inputted in their masks. In certain cases they are allowed to reveal information to humans, such as defective masks and how to resolve them.
• Emotionless Mask: Emotionless Mask are Non-Combatant types Masks who provide supplies to those in the High Rise Realm They seem to have also retained the ability to talk as in the case when one of them met with Sniper Mask and Kuon and explained that the one who will become the perfect God of the realm will have his or her desires satisfied, he also wished Kuon good luck as he left them.

Uses

• Superhuman Physical Characteristics: Mask amplify ones physical strength, allowing them to perform superhuman strength feats, and superhuman speed feats. They have also surpassed world records such as the 8.95 meter long jump.
• Acrobatics: Naturally acrobatic with some mask as they have surpassed athletes world records.
• Accelerated Development: Mask have an effect of having people learn higher level skills, like Rider Mask being a master boxer and Sniper Mask being an extraordinary Sniper.
• Weapon Mastery: All angels come with a weapon, each of them can use them efficiently in combat and some are masters with them.
• Martial Arts: masks, are skilled in boxing.
• Bloodlust: Upon putting on a mask once loses all senses of remorse and will following the order given to them without call, being described as even a "bloodthirsty killer".
• Enhanced Senses: Angels can naturally sense people. Sniper Mask has echolocation.
• Transmutation, Energy Manipulation, & Statistics Amplification: Mask users convert energy from another dimension based off their strong emotions and beliefs.
• Defragmentation: A rare Angel power that allows them to delete the support program installed on their brain by their mask, but in the process increasing their own strength by using the now free calculation power.
• Mind Reading & Analytical Prediction: Mask users can read the movement of the brain.
• Afterimage Creation: Can leave behind afterimages.
• Reactive Power Level: Mask like the Great Angel gets far stronger the more he fights.

Resistances

• Pain: Mask users can take gunshot wounds and still perform superhuman feats.
• Mind Manipulation: Angels and other mask are already naturally mind controlled, and the consciousness itself is a dimension in Tenkuu Shinpan, allowing them to resist conventional mind manipulation.
• Soul Manipulation: Emotionless Mask are naturally soulless.
• Empathic Manipulation: Angels do not feel anxiety nor fear.

Weakness

• Suicide Command: When a mask takes off their mask for an extended period of time or when their mask is broken, the 'Suicide Command' forces the mask to terminate themselves.

• Hibernate Command: In the case of a defective mask where multiple commands overlap and fails to work, and the user becomes unable to be controlled because it is resisting, a Hibernation mode is executed. It gradually suspends the life activity of the wearer to kill it within two weeks. It is a compulsory program to eliminate Angels with defects.

• Despair Command: The Despair command tells the wearer to inflict despair on humans so that they will lose hope and kill themselves by jumping off the high rise buildings. This is counterintuitive in many scenarios as it allows the humans to manipulate the mask via giving them the idea that they're going to commit suicide.

• Stamina: While masks amplify your strength they don't amplify your stamina.

God Candidates

Background

• God Candidates: God Candidates are also known individually as a Person Who Became Closer to God, having had the required code installed in their brains via the wearing of the Faceless Mask. They are those who become, literally, candidates to be god: the ruler of the realm of Tenkuu Shinpan and enforcer of its rules and customs, which were all created by an unknown entity for the express purpose of creating a god. The one who becomes the perfect god will have all of his or her desires and wishes fulfilled, as possible by the rules of the realm. The god has even been said to be able to resurrect the dead, but this is never confirmed, and the information came from the Adminstrator, who may have simply been trying to manipulate the candidates. Those who have become god candidates receive abilities which are installed in their brains. Despite installation, they each have to put in the effort to recall and decompress the mental information pertinent to the activation of their abilities. It is also shown that persons who have become closer to god can confirm each other's candidacy through physical contact, as seen between Kuon and Yuri, who shook hands. Kuon felt Yuri's wavelength and knew for sure she was also like her -- a God Candidate.
  • Faceless Mask: Faceless Masks are Masks which hold the code to becoming closer to god. Upon wearing this mask the wearer will need approximately 10 minutes to install the information. After the installation is completed an order to destroy the mask is automatically executed and cannot be disobeyed. Unlike other Masks, the 'Faceless Mask' respects the free will of the wearer. The Mask writes various abilities into the brain including, 'Ability to Manipulate'. These abilities however will be 'compressed' within the person's brain and requires 'Chemistry' or the person's ability to recall the information to 'de-compress' it and activate the ability. Thus there will be those who are closer to god that are unable to wield their abilities.

Uses

• Ability to Avoid Angel Attacks: Angels are forbidden to kill those who have become closer to god; however, it doesn't seem to be a default ability and must be manually activated for God Candidates to become immune to attacks.
• Ability to Manipulate Masks: If their wavelengths match, or as long as the user's wavelength is above that of the Mask, he or she can control them. Though even if the wavelengths don't match they can still intervene with angels brains. The number of masks that can be controlled differs from person to person. Similar to the first ability, it must be manually activated by that person's mental capacity to figure out how to carry it out.
• Accelerated Development & Adaptation with Self-Reinforced Ability: This ability strengthens the physical capability the person who has become closer to god, giving them the power to get rid of a mask. In the case of an emergency measure, such as an attack prior to when the code is fully installed, this ability is automatically activated and will no longer be compressed in the wearer's brain.
• Hibernation Suspension Ability: Even if the wavelengths don't perfectly match, the person who becomes closer to god can intervene with an angel's brain and retrieve the original consciousness from the weak mask's controlling power, ending hibernation status. However, this requires the god candidate to have stronger willpower than the mask to override its control.
• Railgun Control Ability: The ability to fire a railgun from the black tower by inputting commands through a cellphone, as seen with Kuon Shinzaki, the only person known to have this ability.
• Ability to Observe Consciousness: As with Mamoru Aikawa, this ability allows its user to be cognizant of conscious organisms and have a limited sense for where they are in relation to them.
• Ability to Measure Angels' Strengths: While mentioned in passing, this attribute is known to be useful in intuiting the various "levels" of combatants, a utilitarian skill if ever there was one.
• Ability to Generate Apostles: Again, though only confirmed in Mamoru Aikawa, this ability lets the user turn humans into Apostles -- greatly increasing their strength and placing them under deep brainwashing such that they follow every order issued by the user. It is never explained if this works on Masks or Angels. Though it theoretically should.
• Sealing: Can seal ones powers.

Weaknesses

• Suicide Command: If a God Candidate no longer wants to be a god candidate they will be given an order to kill themself.
• Stamina: While masks amplify your strength they don't amplify your stamina.
