Phazon
Introduction
Phazon, as coined by the Space Pirates (formerly referred to as the "Great Poison" by the Chozo), is a highly radioactive substance originating from the planet Phaaze, known for its extreme mutagenic and energy-producing properties. Though at first glance it seems to be only a mineral substance, it is more of a superorganism, capable of interstellar propagation accomplished by the assimilation and destruction of its host planet's ecosystem.
Phazon appears throughout the Metroid Prime trilogy, where its presence is linked to much of the antagonists' actions. Its contamination is responsible for the near-destruction of many worlds, including Tallon IV of the Chozo and Aether of the Luminoth. Its true nature becomes apparent throughout the plot of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption when its spread is targeted toward multiple planets almost simultaneously.
The contamination is first seeded by artificial meteorites, called Leviathans. On Tallon IV, the Phazon devastated and poisoned the ecosystem, eventually destroying the Chozo civilization that existed there and corrupting its dead. On Aether, the Leviathan struck the planet, and it's phazon infested half of aether's one of a kind planetary energy, which split it into two dimensions, driving the planet and its inhabitants into turmoil. Due to various circumstances, contact with Samus in a phazon-based power suit, and a heavily phazon mutated Metroid led to the creation of the doppelganger known as Dark Samus, which imparted Phazon with the sentience that allowed it to quickly overtake a Pirate Homeworld, beginning the series of events in Corruption.
Abilities
- Adaptation & Adaptation: Phazon also gives one "unforeseen evolutions", essentially giving a creature Adaptation and Adaptation. Giving one enough phazon will allow them to survive on any planet.
- Biological Manipulation & Transmutation: Phazon has the power to mutate organic lifeforms, this extends to non-organic beings like machines.
- Corruption: Phazon can corrupt beings such as undead transcendent ghost, and other beings, including machines.
- Regeneration: Varies on the level of phazon one has intake. Lower levels showing Low-Mid levels of regeneration as it can regenerate damaged tissue and organs, higher levels can regenerate from cells, to regenerating from particles, with fully fueled phazon users having up to Low-Godly to Mid-Godly, with Omega Ridley coming back from complete destruction and Dark Samus being able to regenerate as long as she has phazon.
- Space-Time Manipulation: Phazon caused a massive rift in space-time on Aether creating an alternate universe known as the Dark Aether.
- Reactive Power Level: Everytime a phazon being that is defeated regenerates back, they become far more powerful.
- Possession: Phazon can possess beings altering their DNA completely in the process to fit their need.
- Mind Manipulation: Phazon can control one's mind, keeping a being it's corrupted alive, with a will of it's own.
- Existence Grounding: The Chozo were forced back down from the higher layers, back to the dimension in which Tallon IV laid.
- Dimensional Travel, Intangibility, Technology Manipulation, Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation): Phazon gave the Chozo Ghost the ability of spatially intangible beings that can travel in and out of existence, along with turning off all the technology around him. Along with phazon manipulating one’s souls.
- Power Absorption: Phazon amplified Metroid Prime to absorb the entire DNA of a being along with their powers.
- BFR: Phazon created a transdimensional flux sending one's atoms existing in both the Light Aether and Dark Aether.
Resistances Granted
- Radiation Manipulation: Users of phazon have resisted it’s radiation that could kill the space pirates.
