King Piccolo
| “ | Do you understand now? If I am annoyed, I won’t think twice about destroying your whole world. | „ |
| ~ King Piccolo to King Furry |
Background
Piccolo is an entity who was born hundreds of years prior to the events of Dragon Ball, once being known as the Nameless Namekian. Leaving Planet Namek, the Nameless Namekian came to Planet Earth in order to become the new guardian of the planet. However, he was denied the position due to the darkness within himself.
Understanding what he had to do in order to become Earth’s guardian, the Nameless Namekian split his soul into two parts; the good half (Kami), and the bad half (Piccolo.) Kami and King Piccolo were bound by a life link, so that if one would die, the other would also; preventing them from attacking one another.
As the years went along, King Piccolo would begin to wreak havoc upon the earth, and used his offspring to further this destruction. As the body count rose, the necessity to stop the Demon King rose with it. A trained martial artist, Master Mutaito, faced off against King Piccolo, with a plan to defeat him.
Mutaito unleashed a technique known as the Evil Containment Wave, which sealed King Piccolo away in an Electric Rice Cooker and protected the world from danger for several more centuries. However, this Rice Cooker was eventually found by the conniving Emperor Pilaf, who released him from his confinement.
Almost as soon as he was released, the Demon King Piccolo fell right back into his old habit of destruction, though he noticed his body had aged significantly. Because of this, he gathered the Dragon Balls, and wished for eternal youth. Back in his prime state, King Piccolo was able to take out countless martial artists who opposed him.
Master Roshi, Chiaotzu, and Krillin find themselves being victims of King Piccolo and his demon-spawn. However, during a fateful encounter with the enraged Son Goku, King Piccolo astonishingly found himself beaten and run-through by Goku’s fist.
With his dying breath, the Demon King tied his power and memories to an egg, which he ejected from his mouth and launched into a place of secrecy. As King Piccolo died, the young Piccolo Jr. would be born, to carry out his father’s legacy. Although Piccolo Jr. was the reincarnation of King Piccolo, he eventually lost his evil heart and found himself re-combining with Kami once more.

Attack Potency: Likely City District level (Potency) (Easily fought and beat down 22nd Budokai Goku, where he was far above his Red Ribbon Army Saga self who defeated General Blue who tanked his[10] plane crashing into a mountain at full speed[11], then after his training with Korin, it was noted by Korin his power increased "manyfold", making him at least two times stronger than before, and also drank the Water of the Gods, where he absorbed all the hidden potential within him, greatly boosting his power. Should not be too far off from his young self). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast (Charged Blast have one focus all of their energy into one single point[12], putting the blasts power far beyond what their peak strength is[13], allowing them to destroy things they couldn't prior with their regular attacks[14], this also allows them to use charged attacks that can stop enemies far beyond their level, such as Tien Shinhan pushing back Semi-Perfect Cell with his Neo Ki-Ko-Ho[15], along with stopping an attack shot from Buu absorbed Gotenks[16]. Strongest charged blast can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[17], with blasts capable of[18] seriously damaging/destroying[19] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[20]. Charged Blast also rely heavily on emotional states for example Gohan not believing in himself[21] was having Cell overpower him in a beam clash[22]) | City District level (Potency) (Far more powerful in his prime. Destroyed parts of a city with an energy wave[23]), Metropolis level with Demon Wave (His Demon Wave is his strongest attack that destroyed the entire city and would've killed King Piccolo Saga Son Goku if Tien Shinhan didn't fly him out of the blast, with Central City being a massive megapolis that takes up one of 43 areas that divide the world). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast

Striking Strength: Likely City District Class (Potency) | City District Class (Potency)
Lifting Strength: Superhuman (Superior to Early Dragon Ball Son Goku who could pick up and throw Bulma’s car, lift and crush a bolder with his own hands, moved a giant boulder with a lot of effort and later could somewhat move a massive boulder with some effort, etcetera) | At least Superhuman
Travel Speed: Superhuman | Superhuman (Should be much faster than before)
Attack Speed: High Hypersonic (Far Beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds. Far above Mercenary Tao, who stated that a jet would take too long and used his pillar, with fighter jets reaching up to 1000 mph) | High Hypersonic
Reaction Speed: High Hypersonic | High Hypersonic
Stamina: Superhuman (Namekians are shown to be much more physically concentrated and durable than humans. King Piccolo in particular, carried out his plan to dominate Earth for several days, likely without any sleep, all the while taking on a large amount of martial artists)
Range: Standard Melee, Extended Melee with Body Control, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's Kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)

Powers and Techniques
- Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball[24][25][26] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[27], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[28] block attacks that would otherwise[29] kill them from[30] raising their guard[31], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[32])
- Aura
- Projection: A users ki aura can exert itself[33] as a weapon to attack[34].
- Explosive: Ki users through powering up can form an entire aura around themself, radiating their immense power[35], where depending on their immense strength, can cause them to explode their aura outwards to remove excess ki from themself[36].
- Mood Reflection: Goku and Piccolo Jr. with their auras and their stern concentration on each other reflected in their electric auras, even shooting electricity at each other[37].
- Emotional Empowerment (It's noted that ki users can receive energy through one cheering them on[38]. Ki users can be greatly increased by their emotions and beliefs, Son Goku explains that Son Gohan needs to remember the time he fought Cell and bring out all of the power he has, this way he can lose to no one[39] where it's shown during the Cell beam clash that he was holding back greatly out of fear of destroying the earth but from being cheered on and using all of his power within him, he was able to overpower Cell[40])
- Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent[41]. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan[42], Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb[43], Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice[44], Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta[45], Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza[46], and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them[47])
- Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever[48])
- Penetration Damage
- Weapon Creation (Ki users can create energy weapons out of their attacks[52])
- Power Absorption & Energy Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others[53])
- Attack Nullification
- Power Nullification
- Ki Energy Based: Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[57], which fully destroys a target[58], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[59], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers[60], along with even the likes of Son Goku[61].
- Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves[62]. These forcefields can be expanded[63], and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user[64])
- Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode"[65], in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks[66])
- Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to[67] release all of the energy within them[68] to cause a massive[69] self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust[70] though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left[71])
- Dormant Power Reservoir (Ki users have a dormant power reservoir within them, as shown in arcs like the Buu Saga where Babidi saps this energy in order to use the energy to revive Buu and break his seal[72])
- Internal Destruction (Powerful ki users can overload enemies with their ki, causing them to swell up and explode from the sheer density of ki within them[73])
- Binding
- Dreaming Existence (Characters in Shin Budokai have shown to create physical bodies in alternate timelines through dreaming[76])
- Non-Standard Interaction
- Intangible Interaction: Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[77].
- Space-Time Interaction (3+1-D): Characters can blast space-time distortions to close them[78].
- Healing
- Healing Singular Targets
- Advanced Healing: Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso[79], it can also heal from near death[80].
- Healing Singular Targets
- Resurrection
- Resurrection of the Deceased (Limited): Ki users can resurrect ones heart from death if their ki beams hit their heart, restarting it[81].
- Resurrection from Exhaustion: Can heal downed allies to give them ki back, reviving them[82])
- Intimidation & Spirit Manipulation (Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce[83], along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed[84], exerting fear[85] into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their[86] body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power[87])
- Link Manipulation & Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training[88])
- Vibration Manipulation
- Electricity Manipulation
- Weather Manipulation (Powerful Ki users can generate entire storms through merely powering up alone, Nappa used this in order to conjure the electricity from the storm[93]. Goku showcases this when he first turns super saiyan, causing a massive lightning storm in the background[94])
- Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast[95])
- Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions[97], or control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy[98], or in front of them[99])
- Portal Manipulation
- Non-combat applicable: Characters in GT can link their minds together to open a portal between the living realm and the other world[100].
- Heat Manipulation
- Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light[104][105][106][107][108][109][110][111][112], Degisu seeing ki attacks be fired notes that the characters are "firing light from their hands"[113]).
- Limited Resistance to
- Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides[114])
- Soul Manipulation (Characters with a strong enough will can keep moving after getting their soul reaped, though this requires something akin to a familial or friendship empowerment)
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Fighter's Intuition (King Piccolo can outmaneuver Tien Shinhan, a trained martial artist)
- Acrobatics
- Flight
- Enhanced Senses (Namekians have extremely good hearing to the point that their ears are sensitive)
- Longevity (Kami has lived for over century and King Piccolo is half of him)
- Body Control and Elasticity (Namekians can extend and stretch their limbs)
- Size Manipulation (King Piccolo can increase his size)
- Reincarnation (Self-Reincarnation, Memory Remembrance; King Piccolo can bind his power and memories to one of his eggs, essentially reincarnating himself)
- Regeneration (Mid; As a Namekian, King Piccolo can regenerate lost limbs. All Namekians can regenerate as long as his head is intact)
- Magic
- Telepathy (As a Namekian, King Piccolo can telepathically speak to others)
- Telekinesis (Can telekinetically move objects)
- Fusionism (King Piccolo can perform the Fusion Dance)
- Propagation (King Piccolo can create his children through spitting out eggs, he can also bind his power and memories to one of his eggs, essentially reincarnating himself)
- Soul Manipulation (Demon Clansmen can prevent souls from passing onto the afterlife, keeping them in limbo)
All previous powers and abilities to a far greater extent.
Notable Techniques
- Flight: With a mastery of Ki control, King Piccolo is able to fly at incredibly high speeds.
- Ki Blast: Using Ki, King Piccolo can concentrate it into a ball that he uses as a projectile attack.
- Finger Beam: King Piccolo is able to gather Ki in his fingertips and unleash an energy beam at his opponents.
- Explosive Demon Wave: A blast King Piccolo unleashes using one hand, which he used to completely turn a city to ashes.
- Soumasen: A laser beam that King Piccolo unleashes from his eyes.
- Mouth Energy Wave: A powerful Ki beam blasted from King Piccolo’s mouth.
- Life Link: Due to being created via Fission, King Piccolo's life and the life of Kami are linked thus one will die if the other perishes either via natural or unnatural causes. As it made King Piccolo or Kami killing the other essentially a suicidal act, it effectively resulted in a stalemate between the two as King Piccolo could not kill Kami and Kami could not kill King Piccolo, though this allowed King Piccolo to terrorize the Earth with Kami helpless to stop him unless he was willing to perish along with King Piccolo, though King Piccolo was later sealed by Mutaito putting an end to his evil allowing Kami to survive and continuing to serve as Guardian of Earth. However, King Piccolo inadvertently saved Kami's life when he reincarnated himself into Piccolo Jr. which transferred the life link to his final son after he was fatally injured by Goku, which was fortunate as Kami was the only one who could restore Shenron and the Dragon Balls would be rendered inert anyway if Kami died. The life link is also neutralized if King Piccolo and Kami perform Namekian Fusion resulting in them becoming the Nameless Namekian once more.
- Eternal Youth: After making a wish upon Shenron, King Piccolo was restored to his physical prime, regain his youthful health and appearance as well as peak power and prowess. In addition, he became immune to aging, which made him able to potentially live forever he would never grow old, however due to being life linked with Kami this ability is rendered moot as Kami still ages thus King Piccolo would still die if Kami were to die of old age. This ability was passed to his son Piccolo Jr. upon King Piccolo's death.
- Great Namekian: King Piccolo maintains a height much greater than most Namekians at all times. During his battle against Goku he increases his size further after becoming enraged at the young Saiyan.
Other
Standard Tactics: King Piccolo is a fighter that mainly uses his ki attacks along with hand to hand combat.
Weaknesses
- Standard Ki Weaknesses: Ki users that do not have sufficient training over their emotions put their power within a mental lock, thus affects to their emotions can seriously limit their powers[116], their emotions can also have them instinctively block using the full power of their attacks out of fear of the destruction along with lack of confidence in themselves[117]. If a Ki user is inflicted with any kind of status, disease, or poison, powering up or transforming will put further strain on the body[118] and can speed up the process of poison[119]. Users of Ki Sensing cannot sense beings that invisible, even if the character is in front of them attacking them, they have a hard time countering them due to being invisible[120]. Users of Ki Sensing also have a harder time sensing the true being using illusions, requiring them to focus in on energy fields to see who is moving and who is casting the illusion[121]. Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, using a large amount of ki overtime can greatly weaken them to the point that characters far lower then them can actually harm them with attacks[122]. Taking large amounts of damage can greatly deplete a ki users attacks, making it where attacks that would otherwise kill massively weakened characters, only pushes them back[123]. Ki users cannot put all of their ki and strength into an attack if parts of their body are broken/injured[124][125], they also lose half of their chi if something like one of their arms are badly injured or broken[126].Ki users that are able to ki sense cannot do it when their guard is dropped, such as when Vegeta was able to sneak attack Son Goku during the end of their fight in the Buu Saga[127]. Despite some ki users being able to reach blasts that can destroy planets through charged attacks or techniques[128][129][130][131], they have not shown to be able to tank such blasts themselves[132][133][134], with attacks that have[135] destroyed several[136] planets in the series[137] always killing the character. Even characters such as Majin Buu's body cannot withstand the energy of a planet exploding[138]. Using ki volley attacks come with the caveat of their aim being rather poor, making it harder to hit moving targets. If ki users are at all possessed, even by accident, their true self will be sleeping within, with the possessor needing to awaken them[139]. Even if awoken, they are immobilized and unable to move without the possessor giving them the ability to[140], even with them wanting to wake up, they cannot do it[141]. Specific waves can can suppress a ki users power, and put their consciousness to sleep[142]. If Ki users stamina is broken, they will unable to be able to continue fighting for a short while, this will also cancel out any ki attack they were attempting to use, including ultimate's[143], this also adds on that ki users guards are down while charging ultimate attacks. Their stamina can also be broken if a character moves far too fast and surprise attacks them while they're charging their ki[144]. Ki Users can also be grabbed out of charging their attacks[145]. When ki users radiate their Ki at its highest, their body is also freed the most, making them open to attacks and making them easy to possess[146].
- Namekian Weaknesses: Namekians are highly sensitive to extremely high pitched sounds. Namekians regeneration are based on their stamina, along with this, if their head is not intact, they cannot regenerate.
- Unique Weaknesses: King Piccolo is overly very cocky and believes no one can surpass him in his youthful state.
Note
- Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities from ki use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[147].
- The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.
Explanations
Codex Statistics Questions
Q: What about the planetary feats in Dragon Ball?
A: Planetary feats are normally done through their strongest charged blast, where they can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[148], with blasts capable of[149] seriously damaging/destroying[150] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[151], though they themselves are never capable of leaving this unscathed.
Frieza throws a destroy the planet death ball attack but it doesn't destroy the planet. Goku then interestingly notes the reason the planet didn't blow up is because Frieza was too scared of getting caught in the blast[152] . Vegeta's final flash is noted it's going to destroy the planet and Perfect Cell, who is beyond Vegeta, couldn't tank the blast and had to dodge it last second or it would've killed him[153]. Goku's kamehameha was going to destroy the earth and Cell cannot tank this blast, needing to regenerate[154]. Semi-Perfect Cell explosion was consistently noted it was going to destroy the planet and Gohan and it killed Goku[155]. Ultimate Gohan dies to an attack that destroys the earth, his guard was up too since this was when he was fighting Super Buu[156]. Kid Buu shoots a blast trying to destroy the planet, with Vegeta noting he's going to take himself out with it if he lets it off[157]. In Dragon Ball GT, Great Ape Baby Vegeta shoots a super galick gun that he claims will destroy Earth, when Goku is hit by it, he is knocked out to the point that he can't move for a good while, Elder Kai and Shin later state that Baby is going to shoot another blast that will destroy the planet on, greatly injuring Baby if he's caught in the Blast and will kill everyone on the planet if done[158]. Frieza destroyed the entire earth, killing Vegeta in the process[159]. In the Dragon Ball Super Manga, Gohan tells Goku that he doesn't need to hold anything back and can go all out because anything that happens to the Earth can be restored with Dende and the Dragon Balls. Yet, none of Goku's all out attacks destroy the planet but just heavily causes shockwaves around it[160]. Semi-Perfect Cell unleashes a several blast that destroys several islands Android 16 notes that the attacks are just strong enough to not kill Android 18[161].
In the fight of Trunks vs. Mecha Frieza, who is far stronger than his final form, Mecha Frieza immediately goes for his strongest attack, the Supernova. In the original Z anime King Kai even states this is ten times stronger than the power he used on Namek:
- DBZ Kai Version[162].
- Original DBZ Anime Version[163]. The attack is directly noted that it could destroy the planet, but doesn't because Trunks catches it, when Mecha Frieza proceeds to detonate it, the explosion is massive but the planet is still intact, implying Frieza must target the core in order to destroy the planet.
