Background

The Kid, known as The Guy or The Forever Toddler, is the protagonist of I Wanna Be The Guy. They are a teeny-tiny, microscopic homunculus who, despite their extremely tiny size, sets out to overcome millions of deadly obstacles in order to become the Guy.

At the beginning of the game, in a Megaman-style intro, they're noted to be a child who left home on their fifteenth birthday during the year 200X to defeat, and then become The Guy. They are given a microscopically tiny gun from Former Grandfather The Guy. Because of this, The Kid is a courageous child who never grows up, never gets old and is a child who stays a child forever. Not only are they determined to become The Guy, but they are also very resolved to get revenge upon the current The Guy for killing their grandfather.

Equipment

• Very Small Gun: The Very Small Gun (also known as The World's Tiniest Micro-Revolver, The Extremely Teeny-Tiny Microscopic Gun or V.S.G for short) is a microscopic pistol and the only weapon that The Kid uses throughout the game. The original user of the extremely tiny gun was Former Grandfather The Guy. When Former Grandfather the Guy died, he passed the pistol down to The Kid. The V.S.G can shoot no more than four bullets at one time (3 while in The Factory or in Tourian). The V.S.G is also a treasure. At the end of the game, The Kid is seen carrying The Father's massive pistol to replace the V.S.G.

• Cape of Heroes: The Cape of Heroes is an item that The Kid uses in I Wanna Be The Guy. It is said to allow The Kid to jump again in midair. Unlike the Very Small Gun, it is not told where the Cape of Heroes was obtained from.

• The Father's Gun: A weapon that The Kid gets at the end of the game after defeating The Father and becoming The Guy. It's a much larger gun then his very small gun and can shoot extremely large bullets in a Curtain Fire fashion.

• Shooting: The V.S.G can shoot no more than four bullets at one time (3 while in The Factory or in Tourian).

• Platforming: The Kid is capable of wall jumping on specific surfaces and double jumping to get around many different platforming challenges.

Standard Tactics: The Kid will platform around and shoot at the opponent.

Weaknesses: The Kid is extremely fragile to the point that apples falling on him can kill him, otherwise nothing notable.

Note: Becoming "The Guy" does not amplify one's strengths or abilities. We know this especially due to the ending of the game where The Kid becomes the new The Guy, an apple falling on him is still a threat and he must move out of the way or else he dies. Thus it is not assumed that The Father's powers come from being The Guy nor is The Kid scaled physically to The Father due to becoming The Guy. While I Wanna Be the Guy: Gaiden has had implications of him becoming more powerful, there is no reason to assume this is due to him taking the title of "The Guy", along with this, Gaiden isn't close to completion and possible never will be.
