Pokémon/Rayquaza
Jump to navigationJump to search

Rayquaza first appeared in Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald the 16 September 2004, as the primordial legendary to defeat the continental power of Groudon and Kyogre. Since then, Rayquaza appeared in a bunch of spin-off games such as Rumble Rush, Mystery Dungeon, Pikachu's adventure and even in non-Pokémon game such as Super Smash Bros. He finally achieved the power of Mega evolution through Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire appearing in the Delta Episode to defeat Deoxys.

Rayquaza's home is in the ozone layers where he's said to have been living for millions of years by feeding on particles. Rayquaza is rarely seen by people even while flying and has almost never appeared to the human eye. Rayquaza would also absorbs meteorite it founds to enhance his power over Mega evolution but nothing else is much known about him.

Rayquaza
The meteors shone with a rainbow brilliance, as if some great life was held within. That was when, as if drawn by the brilliance, a Pokémon that shone in a blazing emerald hue descended from the heavens... That Pokémon was none other than Rayquaza.
~ Zinnia to May/Brendan
The great meteoroid was the first of many disasters to befall humanity. When it punched into the planet, the land cracker beneath it, and a great welling of natural energy poured from beneath Hoenn. Thirsting for that energy, Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon once again woke. The people had a wish- a memory from a thousand years before... They wished that the legendary Pokémon clad in emerald light would appear again. The huge Meteorite that lay at the heart of Sootopolis gave off a boundless brilliance. In its brilliance, it resembled a vast and powerful Key Stone. And once again, Rayquaza descended from whence it came in the heavens. The people fell to their knees before Rayquaza and made a wish for salvation. As they did, a great change came over the Legendary Pokémon. It was enveloped in blinding light. As the light receded, they beheld a Rayquaza beyond all knowledge- a sublime figure, incandescent with overwhelming life force.

Appearance

General Description: Rayquaza is a large, green, serpentine Pokémon that resembles a missile. It has small, yellow eyes with black pupils, prominent pink gums, and two discernible fangs in its upper jaw.

Physical Features: Red-tipped, rudder-like wings on its shoulders and down its body. Similarly patterned fins on the tip of its tail. Yellow ring-like symbols run across the length of its body, with an additional yellow ring on top of its head. Two limbs with three-clawed hands. Two long, flat, horn-like structures on its head, with two shorter horns along its jawline.

Mega Rayquaza: Its body becomes longer and gains more features. Its head becomes longer with the Δ symbol appearing on its forehead. Its eyes now contain yellow pupils and red irises, with black, shichishito-shaped markings trailing behind its eyes. Its red lips and teeth become gold, with gold lines connecting to those on its lower horns, which take on a broad, triangular shape. Long, golden, glowing tendrils extend from the outer edges of its lower horns to green, fin-like structures, with ring patterns resembling the yellow markings of its normal form. While in flight, these tendrils give Mega Rayquaza a Δ-shaped profile. Its two upper horns become longer with a gold line running over them in a V shape, and each upper horn has another glowing tendril ending in a circular shape with a spike. Golden, glowing orbs are placed along its body where its ring patterns used to be. The chin, part of the neck, and parts of its serpentine body are changed to black. The fins running along its body are now marked with gold lines, while the fins on its tail become entirely yellow and substantially longer. Particles stream from the long tendrils extending from its jutting jaw, allowing Mega Rayquaza to control the density and humidity of the air and manipulate the weather. Its green hide sparkles with an emerald-like quality.

Alternate Forms/Disguises: Mega Rayquaza is considered an alternate form of Rayquaza.
