Background Alice is a child prodigy who had already earned an Ivy League college degree by the age of eleven. Her genius lies not simply in intelligence but in her way of perceiving mathematics: mathematical equations appear to her as drawings, and she can intuitively solve them or construct formulae by literally drawing a picture. Her abilities were considered significant enough that scientists hoped she might contribute to discovering a Theory of Everything. She was bullied in the past and was called "the Demon Child." Her mother had no husband, became addicted to drugs, and joined a cult religion. When Alice began displaying strange abilities, her mother interpreted them as a sign of her own sins and decided that Alice was a demon child born from her drug habit, and that correcting the situation would be her atonement. Until Jaunt found and rescued her, Alice was made to live while rejecting any value she might have had. Her real name was not Alice, and "Foyle" was a name given to her by Jaunt's chairman. She chose the name "Alice" herself, drawing on Alice in Wonderland, and she dyed her naturally black hair blonde. Arrival at School Alice transferred into the class on the first day of the new semester after summer break. At the teacher's podium she greeted the class and stated that she had especially looked forward to meeting Marii Yukari. In public she acted like a sweet, precocious child who had worked hard abroad, but in front of Manabu and Tenjou she dropped the act and called ordinary people "commoners," declaring that she had no intention of getting cozy with inferior specimens and only cared to associate with geniuses like Yukari. She told Yukari that Jaunt took in and protected special children, that there were other children like them hidden from the world, and that at Jaunt Yukari would not have to hide her eyes, could study what she needed, and might even learn the mystery behind her eyes. She explained that "Jaunt" was originally the name of an ability from an Alfred Bester novel and had become the organization's true name, representing the ideal of seeking out and nurturing unique abilities for a better future. Recruiting Yukari Alice spent as much time as possible with Yukari, linking arms with her and staying close. She argued that Manabu and the others could not protect Yukari, that commoners would eventually betray her, and that Yukari could not hide forever. She also confronted Manabu directly, asking whether a mere commoner could protect Yukari and warning that an organization of commoners might one day try to use her abilities for evil. Alice used the Black and White Room thought experiment to argue that Yukari was trapped in a colorless room and that Jaunt offered her a world of color. It became clear to Manabu that Alice was not merely recruiting Yukari for Jaunt but was searching for companionship, needing friends who shared her abilities and would not reject her. Yukari's Transfer and Death Alice and Yukari both transferred away at the end of the third school term. In the original timeline, Yukari died in a classified experiment at Jaunt shortly afterward, and Alice attended the funeral. When Manabu spotted her and called out, Alice fled, and Manabu resolved to chase her and uncover the truth. Manabu later learned that Jaunt had wanted to exploit Yukari's eyes, that Yukari had refused, and that she had been experimented on and dissected, with her brain preserved, and that Alice had never known about this. Across Infinite Worlds In Manabu's journeys across parallel worlds, Alice's fate varied widely depending on how Manabu learned the truth from her. Manabu threatened her, persuaded her, appealed to her conscience, forgave her, tortured her, betrayed her, killed her, and in some worlds fell in love with her. In one world, Manabu genuinely befriended her and fell in love with her, and Alice became self-reliant and helpful rather than dependent. In the world where Manabu joined Jaunt, she made Alice depend on her, made Alice love her, and used her to rise to the head of Jaunt. In another, Alice grew into an adult with her hair back to its natural black, pointed a gun at Manabu, and eventually completed a painting of the Theory of Everything for her. Final Timeline In the final timeline, Manabu tells Alice directly that she will never let Yukari move away, denounces Jaunt, and challenges Alice to try being her friend. Alice is flustered but eventually agrees, claiming she is only doing it to help Yukari save face. She extends her stay in Japan and becomes a third-year student alongside Yukari and Manabu, continuing to call Manabu a commoner while gradually warming to her. It is also implied that Alice and Tenjou get along well. |
Name Meaning
Alice's last name "Foyle" was given by the current Jaunt Chair and Alice herself chose her first name, wanting to be like the blonde girl from Alice in Wonderland[1].
Appearance
General Description: Alice is a petite young girl with a pale complexion and a slender build. She has long, blonde hair that flows down her back, though in actuality her hair is dyed blonde to take after the girl from Alice in Wonderland as her hair was initially black[1].
Clothing/Outfit: She wears a dark black blazer school uniform with stockings for her legs.
Personality
- Only Acknowledges other Geniuses: Alice is naturally bratty due to her superior intellect, only being willing to talk with those with a genius intellect of their own[1]. A large part of this is that nobodies cannot accept those who are different from them[1].
Goals
- Get Yukari to join Jaunt (Originally succeeded, failed in final timeline).
Relationships
Marii Yukari
Alice introduces herself saying that she has been very eager to meet Marii Yukari[2].
She acknowledges Marii and likes her due to Marii having a special ability with her eye, classifying her as a genius[1].
She asks Marii to join her organization that finds people like her and Marii and takes care of them[1].
Depending on the timeline, Yukari usually goes and dies with Alice being too afraid to confront Hatou about it.
In the final timeline Hatou decides to stay with Yukari and Hatou instead of going back to Jaunt.
Hatou Manabu
Alice at first says she has no intention at being friends with "nobodies" like Hatou and Tenjou[1].
She later tells Hatou to try and convince Yukari to join Jaunt as she is wasting her time being around nobodies, Hatou retorts that Yukari should live her own life but Alice notes that Yukari's abilities cannot be hidden forever and a different organization could potentially kidnap her and abuse her talent without Hatou being able to protect her.
Alice later meets with Hatou again, ranting about the injustice in Yukari needing to hide her powers when she could freely use them at Jaunt. Eventually this convinces Hatou to have Yukari go with Alice to Jaunt.
However, this results in Yukari's death and when Hatou sees Alice at the funeral, Alice runs away.
When Hatou finds Alice, things differ depending on the world, but the main Hatou chooses to forgive her as she had no true part in Yukari's death[3].
In the main world, Hatou has Alice as a friend and eventually falls in love with her before she changes the past to where Yukari never died.
In changed past she at first acts like a bully to Alice to stop her from trying to get Yukari to go to Jaunt, it succeeds as Alice returns to Jaunt in low spirits, however Yukari still dies. Hatou moves on to attempting to kill Alice in multiple probabilities.
Eventually Hatou reaches a point where she has Alice fall in love with her and become her second in command as they take over Jaunt[4]. This causes a probability where Alice removes the dye on her hair and kills Hatou with her permission and the other where Alice completes her research on the Theory of Everything where Hatou erases herself.
In the final timeline, Hatou simply tells Alice they should try to be friends if she believes a Nobody can't be friends with a Genius and they become friends.

- Hatou Manabu's Abilities (It's noted by Yukari the reason Hatou could never possess her or Alice is because she cannot observer or see what they see, having absolute parallelism thus her powers cannot work on them[7]). These powers include:
- Probability Manipulation (Can access alternate probabilities and worlds and choose whether to accept them or not[2], if Hatou at all dies in one world, she will be sent to one of the other infinite worlds where she never died along with getting all the memories of what she did in that world[8]. All Hatou's infinite selves can follow the Fermat's Principle to where light travels to its destionation to the path that takes the least amount of time, to have Hatou's infinite selves focus on a single objective in all timelines and find out how to get their the fastest[3])
- Possession (Hatou can abandon her sense of self allowing her to possess almost anyone that doesn't have a different qualia from a human effectively no longer being Hatou Manabu[4])
- Erasure
- Space-Time Manipulation & Time Manipulation (Hatou learns she is able to influence and change the past, creating contradicts that have causes lead to an effect such as training in the Naginata when she never had a reason too until learning about quantum mechanics much later and needing the Naginata training to get to Jaunt[6])

Notable Techniques
Pictures Worldview
Alice's unique worldview allows her to easily answer mathematical equations as she views them as pictures letting her naturally solve them by instinct.
Other
Standard Tactics: Alice doesn't normally fight, the only time she's shown too is when pointing a gun at a willing Hatou.
Weaknesses: Due to her young age she is easily manipulated and impreshionable.
Explanations
Jaunt
Jaunt is an organization that picks up people with special eyes/powers like Marii Yukari and Alice Foyle[1].
According to Alice, it's an organization made to protect and nurture special children, having a school made for them and left private and has the government supporting it[1].
The name comes from a novel by Alfred Bester that refers to a fictional power to move a human being instantly by force of will regardless of walls or distance ( teleportation), but it can also be a metaphor for a mode of rebirth that changes the world[1].
Jaunting is a dynamic symbol of a fierce drive for power, a way for people to reach new heights, an innovation, adaptation, and the signpost to an open future away from stagnation[1].
Through these principles they seek to protect and support rare talents so they are not buried by the world and that they can find a better future[1].
Jaunt was also an acronym made from the initials of the founders of the organization and is a nickname rather then the organization's official name[1].
Jaunt is later found to be a terrorist organization stealing young kids and using them for research purposes, being one of the first entities to get Yukari killed.
Trivia
- While Alice views most people as nobodies, she does not discriminate, the ethnicity doesn't matter to her over whether someone is stupid or not[1].
