Background

Sakuya Izayoi, the head maid of Gensokyo's Scarlet Devil Mansion, was sent to a parallel universe that superficially resembles the mansion, by her mistress, Remilia Scarlet. Ostensibly, this is for Remilia's own amusement, but her younger sister Flandre Scarlet disguises herself as Nitori Kawashiro and hijacks the parallel universe in revenge for Remilia using her magical jewels to create Luna Nights without permission. After Sakuya defeats Flandre, Remilia apologizes and undoes Luna Nights.

In the game's alternate ending, the real Nitori discovers that the world is collapsing and sends Sakuya to investigate. She finds Reimu Hakurei had infiltrated the parallel universe as it is affecting the real Gensokyo. After they fight, Remilia, Nitori, and Flandre arrive and explain to everyone that the purpose of Luna Nights is to create a universe where Flandre could freely use her powers to avoid creating an incident in the real Gensokyo, but were unsuccessful leading to Reimu's appearance. The spiritual energy built up during the fight then causes the universe to collapse, with Sakuya barely escaping in Nitori's mech.

She can also create chainsaws, knives that bounce, and shields made of daggers), Accelerated Development (Sakuya can level up, which increases her attack power and defense and she directly states to have become stronger by the end of the game), Time Stop (Can stop time), Time Manipulation (Can effect time in multiple ways such as stopping and slowing it), Electricity Manipulation (With Stun Knives), Afterimage Creation (Creates afterimages when slowing down time, dashing, and stopping time), Homing Attack (With the Auto Aim skill and the Lost Holy Sword), Transmutation (Can turn attacks into Magic Energy for herself), Absorption (With her graze ability, Sakuya can absorb and steal health and magic points from enemies to restore her own along with her time gauge), Instinctive Reaction (With Graze, Sakuya can instinctively dodge attacks without trying despite them getting really close), Summoning (With a shop ticket, fake Nitori can be summoned at any time), Save and Load (Remilia along with the world, created a copy of Hieda no Akyuu to save Sakuya's progress on her journey. Standard Tactics: Sakuya time stops and places up to a thousand knives to home in onto her opponents when it's no longer stopped. She also uses her several techniques to her advantage. She can also attempt to outrange opponents as well as using items to help her. She can memorize her enemies tactics if she loses through save load as she remembers the past and keeps on trying. Sakuya also uses the power of gems to amplify herself and give herself several amplifications and powers.

Weaknesses: She can't create weapons if she has no Magic Points left.

Note: Sakuya's time manipulation being limited is simply because Remilia Scarlet sealed her power away to make things interesting in her realm so it won't apply anywhere else.
