| Wolfkrone. Wedged between the Kingdom of France and the Holy Roman Empire, this small European kingdom on the west bank of the Rhine traces its roots to its guardian beast: the wolf. Legend states that long ago a mythic hero known as "the Wolf" wielded a holy spear and sword in defense of the land's people and established for them a nation, which now boasts a robust warrior tradition with soldiers widely renowned for their skill.
| |
|
| |
|
| Over their long and proud history, the people of Wolfkrone were at one point absorbed by another nation and split into multiple disparate houses, but nevertheless their bloodline endured. By the end of the 14th century, Lord Philibert IV of Krone rose up with brilliant political savvy and formidable military might to reestablish an independent monarchy over which he ruled as king.
| |
|
| |
|
| Generations passed, and the year is now 1582. King George of Wolfkrone is hailed as the greatest monarch since Philibert. His elite retinue, known as the Silver Wolves, have made a name for themselves fighting on countless battlefields. With a sword in one hand and a spear flying their banner in the other, the soldiers of Wolfkrone have spent centuries honing a unique fighting technique that honors their legendary founder, the Wolf. And now, a noble young wolf grips sword and shield with pride and honor, eyes burning bright with determination to lead the people of Wolfkrone into a new age.
| |
|
| |
|
| Johan Dürer meets with King George in the Wolfkrone Palace. As an emissary for Rauchburg, Johan has come to ask for reinforcements for the battle about to break out nearby. This visit would set in motion the beginning of dark times for the kingdom of Wolfkrone... King George succumbs to the madness of the Evil Seed and is captured with the help of the Aval Organization. Other kingdoms fall prey to the Evil Seed as well, and reports flood in of the malfested scourge wreaking havoc across the world. Having lost its great king, the Wolfkrone Kingdom is plunged into chaos and finds itself in dire need of a new leader to serve as a beacon of hope.
| |
|
| |
|
| Five years have passed since Hildegard von Krone became regent. The Azure Knight and his twisted legion of malfested spread turmoil across the land. With the help of those around her, Hilde manages to maintain the stability of her country and her reign by fending off invasion by the evil forces. Years of war have forged Hilde into a strong and capable ruler. No longer a helpless princess, she has become a virtuous warrior and skilled general.
| |
|
| |
|
| Two years prior, in the year 1586, the Azure Knight who led the malfested had been defeated by an unknown hero. But even now, in 1588, Wolfkrone struggles to savor their fleeting moments of peace. Even though Nightmare was defeated, his vile servants remain. The surviving malfested are still a clear threat, slowly eating at the kingdom's strength...
| | ==Background== |
| | '''Kamikirimusi''' is a bonus character of the ''Soulcalibur'' series. Like the rest of the bonus characters, she was designed by a guest artist and takes her fighting style from one of the original characters; in Kamikirimusi's case, she shares a style with Nightmare. Kamikirimusi is an oni from centuries ago, who was recently freed and longs for the great evil power of Soul Edge. |
|
| |
|
| A heavy burden rests on the shoulders of the young queen as she returns from battle. Her people are exhausted, threat from a neighboring kingdom looms large, and she struggles to maintain her military might. Perhaps if she can find within herself the valor befitting a monarch she could put her mind at ease. As a pale blue light rises in the sky, the young woman makes her way to the Wolfkrone Monument, where she enters the restricted area and meets with a special someone...

| The war against the malfested had settled for a time, but it once again turned ferocious. Hilde receives a visitor, a man seeking assistance from the woman who stands against the cursed sword's minions. This man, who leads a group of skilled fighters calling themselves the "Hunters of the Evil Sword", is familiar to her.
| | |- |
| | | | |
| The plan to strike Ostrheinsburg proceeds smoothly. Many assemble at the Stolzstadt to prepare for the battle with the Azure Knight, but Wilhelm does not show, having vanished since the argument at the monument. Despite this, Hilde resolves to press forward, her forces now prepared for the fight ahead.
| |
|
| |
|
| Wilhelm's strange behavior, the disappearance of George, and other disconcerting information all begin to cast an ominous shadow over Hilde's offensive. She and her band of soldiers make their way to the fortress, the sun quickly shifting its gaze from them. As night draws near, Wolfkrone's best signal the others to meet them and venture into the forest.

| | *'''Denryu Bakuha:''' A heavy, blunt weapon with a long handle and a head made up of a series of sharp spikes or projections. The kanabō was traditionally used by feudal Japanese warriors, such as samurai, to break through armor and defenses during battle. It was also used as a tool for crushing and breaking through walls and other structures. The Denryu Bakuha is known for its destructive power and was feared as a formidable weapon on the battlefield. |

| *'''Corsesca & Broadsword:''' A corsesca is a type of polearm first developed in the 15th century, and one of many that became widely used throughout Europe after the turn of the 16th. Its name comes from the island of Corsica. The "broad" in broadsword may seem to indicate a particularly wide blade, but the name was only used to distinguish it from the thin rapier, a popular weapon at the time.

Even after his death, his exploits remained well-known in song and legend, and he was eventually immortalized in the novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms." This classic story depicts him with a serpent-shaped spear 1.8 zhang in length, but in reality, this weapon only came into use during the much later Ming Dynasty. The spearhead's serpentine curves allow it to cut deep into its enemies, leaving terrible wounds in its wake.

| *'''Lancier & Perpetuity:''' "Lancier" is a French word meaning "lance wielder." Lances were originally developed to harness the power of a rider on a charging horse, but Groẞe Erbschaft makes effective use of its sturdiness on foot. The sword Perpetuity was forged to be ever at a warrior's side in battle. It was given its name as a prayer for its wielder's safe return.

| *'''Eisonowaki & Kandachi:''' A half-sickle spear named after a typhoon that ravaged Japan in the 10th century, and a pointed, double-edged katana, inscribed with a name meaning "thunderclap." They were originally crafted as being ceremonial offerings to the wind and thunder gods. However, in the Warring States Period, a powerful warlord demanded them as gifts, and they were eventually stained with blood on the battlefield.

| *'''Zhang Ba Shemao:''' The great general Zhang Fei served as a high-ranked warrior in mainland China during the Later Han Dynasty and early Three Kingdoms Period.

| *'''Gae Dearg & Moralltach:''' A sword and spear said to have once been wielded by the Celtic hero Diarmuid, a Fianna warrior from the Fenian Cycle. It is said the crimson Gáe Dearg can dispel all manner of magic, while Móralltach, the Great Fury, can cleave anything in two with a single strike. Though these are not the genuine articles used by Diarmuid, they are of a superb make, worthy to bear the same names of those legendary arms.
