Alexander Thornton Regginis

From The Codex
Jump to navigationJump to search

I'm very sorry about Lyn, but she has done well for herself. It was Lord Veyrac's wish also that she would be cared for...Did she tell you how she felt about you before she... ... Well enough of that; the techniques of swordsmanship that I shall now teach you will help you in your final hours with he who was formerly your father. Finally the time has come. Do not regard the one in the castle as your father. Your tomb there was made by those who desire to take your life. The holy sword you carry is not the correct one, you will need the power of the Sword of Light. Guyra will endow the light upon the sword once again. Your subjects are awaiting you. For the sake of your people, you must regain the light for this country. Your true father wishes that as well....
~ Alexander to Austin Lyle Forrester

Background

Alexander Thornton Regginis is the primary protagonist of King's Field 2/King's Field (US). He is the best friend of the John Alfred Forrester, the protagonist of the first King's Field and the king of King's Field 2 (JPN)/King's Field (US).

He arrives at the Castle of Verdite to visit his best friend John and hears about his tale of the missing sword and monsters attacking Verdite. According to the history, monsters on the Island of Melanat have emerged and crossed the rough channels to the northern continent, with the three countries, Granatyki, Egret and Verdite, only Verdite remains. As monsters started to appear near the caverns of Verdite, John went to go destroy them, but found his Moonlight Sword was stolen, and without it he could not defeat the monsters, he attempted to dispatch extensive search parties but none could fine the sword, however they did find a letter that claimed the sword was on the Island of Melanat. When John sent soldiers to the island however they were never heard from again. With no hesitation he proclaims that he will go to the Island of Melanat, destroy the monsters, and bring back the King's sword, beginning his journey.

While crossing the channels to the Island, Alexander's ship was attacked by the Creatures of the Sea, and was completely destroyed. All of the King's men were lost at sea, except for Alexander who became entangled in seaweed, and drifted to a small reef. When Alexander regained consciousness, he lifted his eyes and observed an island in the distance, he slowly swam to the shoreline, losing his weaponry and armor in the murky waters. He crawled out of the sea and stumbled towards the caverns within the Island.

Upon traveling through the Island he learns of the evil Necron though as he journeys further he learns that Necron has actually been controlled and manipulated by the dragon Gurya, and thus he goes to fight and defeat Gurya, taking back the Moonlight Sword and bringing it back to John, who seals it along with the Dark Slayer sword.

By King's Field 3 (JPN)/King's Field 2 (US), Alexander becomes good friends with John's son, Austin Lyle Forrester, leaving him a note if he at all perishes. The note explains the truth to Austin about the history of Verdite and Valicia.

In it, five years has passed since the previous events. John was stricken by a lightning storm leaving him sick for over a month, when he recovered he was no longer the same, welcoming the coming of demons that were pillaging and looting the kingdom. Alexander tried to go to John to find out what was going on but all he had was a cold stare from John, he attempted to find the Moonlight Sword in order to cure John's current state, however he found it completely broken.

Knowing what's to come, Alex bestowed the King's four royal aides with the four principles of power that would be the key for the coming onto power of the next 'Chosen One'. Bestowing fire to Garnabus, wind to Calamathar, water to Zul Arifin, and Earth to Shudom. He then purified his own powers of light and took up the broken hilt of the Moonlight sword, joining its last remaining powers with his own to erect a massive seal across Verdite Castle to keep John's evil from spreading across his kingdom, in doing this, Alex used up all of his energy, with his last thoughts, sending a message to Lyle revealing the entirety of the history to him in hopes that he will save the kingdom and then died.

Relationships

John Alfred Forrester

Alexander is noted to be John's best friend, after hearing his story about the missing sword and the monsters near Verdite, Alexander proclaimed that he would go to the Island of Melanat, destroy the monster, and bring back the Moonlight Sword[1]. It is noted that Alexander has been John's best friend since before the time of his father, Houser Forrester's disappearance, since their childhood[2].

Though after John fell sick from a lightning storm, he changed completely, being far more villainous and evil. Alexander tried to come help his friend but was only met with cold stares of hatred.

Austin Lyle Forrester

Alexander was a friend to the Forresters, sending a message to Austin about the truth of the kingdom and how his father fell to darkness, requesting him to take up the mantle and save the kingdom.

He later encounters the ghost of Alexander at the Dragon Spring, he apologizes for what happened to Lyn before asking if she told Austin what she thought of him before immediately cutting himself off.

He proceeds to teach Austin the techniques of swordsmanship that will help him in his final hours against John.

Nola Bagil

Alexander encounters Nola within the Central Village where she notes that her brother Dias came to the island two years ago but she can't find him, asking Alexander to find her brother and tell him where she is.

Kehl Hunt

Alexander encounters Kehl in Central Village outside his house where he simply tells Alexander to not come into his house without his permission and how everyone is nervous because Sandler has disappeared, saying that he'll talk to Alexander later.

Sandler's Mother

As Alexander journeys he encounters Sandler's mother who asks him if he's seen her son. She professes concern as she said that he told her that he found the Termites' nest, and the Termites are very dangerous. She later thanks Alexander for saving her son Sandler.

Sandler

Alexander encounters Sandler in the Termite's nest, with Sandler thanking him as the Termites tried to eat him and he couldn't leave due to the gigantic termite blocking the way. He gives Alexander a pirate key as a way of thanks.

Karen Shore

Alexander encounters Karen in the East Coast Shore where she thanks him for coming and requests of him to save her son in return for giving him the Figure of Seath. She fades away afterwards as she has finally gotten her request out.

Trivia

  • Due to the first game not being released internationally, the naming titles of the American and Japanese versions of King's Field are confusing, thus it goes like this:
    • King's Field (JPN) = Japanese version only
    • King's Field (US)/King's Field 2 (JPN)
    • King's Field 2 (US)/King's Field 3 (JPN)
    • King's Field: The Ancient City (US)/King's Field 4 (JPN)
  • Interestingly, Alexander's name is sometimes Alef/Aleph. Aleph is also the name of the protagonist of Megami Tensei, meaning both of them are sequel protags with the name Aleph.
