Austin Lyle Forrester
From The Codex
Jump to navigationJump to search
Background
Austin Lyle Forester is the main protagonist of King's Field 3 (JPN)/King's Field 2 (US). He is the son of John Alfred Forester and Noel Forester. He is the Prince of Granatyki.
He is relayed the history of Verdite and Valicia by Alexander Thornton Regginis, learning how his father was once a pure King and a hero that became corrupted by an unknown force into an unholy evil being.
He takes up arms to go stop his father and save his kingdom. Once he defeats him one of two events can happen:
In the bad ending after defeating his father, he promises to his Kingdom to become a King that will keep it in peace forever, however he faces the same afflictions as his father right before the ending cuts off, heavily implying Austin follows in his father's footsteps.
In the good ending with Seath defeated, Vallad thanks Austin for what he's done, honoring his bloodline by naming them all Golden Kings that will be known throughout history and reviving Lyn to be his queen.
Appearance

- General Description:
Austin Lyle Forrester is only portrayed from behind during the good ending, his figure framed by a stone arch as he looks out across an open landscape at sunset. His stance and setting evoke a sense of solitude, duty, and reflection.
- Facial Features:
His face is not visible in the image, emphasizing anonymity and allowing his armor and posture to convey his identity and purpose.
- Clothing/Outfit:
Austin wears a suit of ornate armor highlighted with gold and black plating. The armor has distinct pauldrons with a jagged design, giving him a formidable silhouette. His boots and gauntlets are similarly styled, reinforcing the image of a knight or warrior of stature.
- Special Features:
Beside him is a white-hilted sword planted firmly in the ground, its positioning and prominence suggesting its symbolic or personal importance—possibly as a weapon of legacy or burden.
Personality
- Principled and Just: Austin embodies a strong moral compass, driven by the desire to protect his kingdom and prevent it from falling into darkness. Even when confronted with the horrifying truth of his father’s corruption, he remains steadfast in his duty to do what is right.
- Courageous and Resolute: He does not hesitate to confront his own father when the fate of Granatyki hangs in the balance. Austin's bravery shines through in his willingness to take up arms against a once-revered hero for the sake of the greater good.
- Idealistic and Hopeful: Despite the grim circumstances, Austin maintains hope that he can bring peace to his realm. His vow to rule as a just and peaceful king, even in the bad ending, reflects his idealism and desire to break the cycle of corruption.
- Burdened by Legacy: As the son of a fallen hero-turned-villain, Austin carries the emotional weight of legacy and expectation. His journey is as much about saving the kingdom as it is about proving he can rise above the darkness that once consumed his father.
