Dodoria

From The Codex
Dragon Ball/Dodoria

If those little twerps think they can outrun me, they've got another thing coming! And when I get my hands on them, they're gonna lose a lot more than their eyes. Do you hear me?! I'm gonna tear you apart! I'm gonna rip you to pieces! And I'm gonna love every minute of it!

Background

Dodoria is a member of the Frieza Force. He is a ruthless warrior that serves alongside Zarbon as one of Frieza's top two highest ranking Generals and right-hand men.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Dodoria’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Background
Dodoria originally served under King Cold as a member of the Cold Force along with Zarbon and the Ginyu Force prior to his retirement. After he retired, he passed control over to his son Frieza, the Cold Force was renamed the Frieza Force and Dodoria eventually began serving Frieza alongside Zarbon going forward. Because of his high power level, he became Frieza's enforcer and one of his two attendants and highest-ranking generals, the other being Zarbon.

According to Toyotarō's interpretation, during Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Dodoria and two of his underlings killed Tora and the other members of his squad after they was contacted by Leek about the order to return to Planet Vegeta, similarly to what happened in Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku; in the latter, Dodoria was sent to Planet Meat to eradicate Team Bardock, a Saiyan attack force sent to that planet and thus potential survivors of the planned Saiyan genocide.

Frieza Saga
Dodoria accompanies Zarbon alongside their master Frieza to planet Namek in search of the Dragon Balls, which Frieza plans to use to gain immortality, thus maintaining his dominance in the universe. Dodoria is able to help him collect most of the Dragon Balls by mercilessly slaughtering the Namekians as a means to extract information from them. Vegeta soon shows up on Namek with his own desire to find the Dragon Balls and quickly kills Cui, who was sent to dispose of Vegeta. As he does so, Dodoria's scouter runs wild, telling him that Vegeta's power level is 24,000, which Dodoria dismisses as a malfunction given that would have meant Vegeta was stronger than him.

At the same time, a group of three Namekian warriors arrive to save the survivors of Frieza's most recent attack. Dodoria reads the Namekian warriors' power levels as lower than Frieza's soldiers and proceeds to mock them. However, the group of Namekians power up and kill Frieza's low-level minions easily, confusing Dodoria. After the village elder Moori ruined their chances of locating the other Dragon Balls by destroying their scouters, Dodoria attempts to attack the elderly Namekian in revenge, although he is quickly called back by Frieza to deal with the three Namekian warriors first. Dodoria makes quick work of the three on Frieza's orders, brutally slaughtering the Namekians without mercy, also citing when they try to gang up on him that he is able to handle ten of them.

In the hopes of preventing further bloodshed, Moori then reveals the location of the Dragon Ball in his village. Frieza asks him to reveal the location of the other villages as payment for Moori's earlier destruction of their scouters. Moori refuses and orders Cargo and Dende to run away while he buys them time. Dodoria kills Cargo (in the manga this was actually Frieza's doing) with a blast over Moori's shoulder, and then grabs Moori in a choke hold before brutally cracking his neck. As Dodoria moves along to finish Dende, Gohan in a rage intervenes by kicking Dodoria into a Namekian house, thus Krillin and Gohan save the young Namekian. Dodoria, enraged by their interference, is ordered by Frieza to pursue them. Dodoria catches up to the three of them quite swiftly, briefly managing to capture Krillin. However, he is halted by the temporary blindness that Krillin's Solar Flare induces, allowing them to seek refuge.

Once Dodoria comes to his senses, he unleashes his Maximum Buster, demolishing the land below. Convinced that this onslaught was enough to finish Krillin, Gohan, and Dende, Dodoria makes his return to Frieza, not noticing that the trio had survived his attack by floating high above him. As he makes his way back to Frieza, Dodoria is attacked and forced into the waters below by an unknown force. Upon surfacing, he finds his assailant to have been none other than Vegeta, who has now decided to betray Frieza to achieve immortality and destroy Frieza and conquer the universe. Dodoria encourages him to run away while he can, but Vegeta decides to challenge Dodoria instead.

Angered by Vegeta's confidence, Dodoria attempts to get the scouter from Vegeta, which the latter drops on the ground. However, Vegeta crushes it with his foot, as he can now sense energy. He then brings up his increase in power. This causes Dodoria to remember the time when Vegeta's powering up caused Zarbon's scouter to break. Rebuking that Vegeta has gotten stronger, Dodoria tries to finish him quickly with the Maximum Buster. Easily avoiding the attacks, Vegeta then grapples Dodoria into submission while telling him of how Saiyans get stronger from near death experiences like he did from his battle on Earth. With this, Dodoria realizes the true extent of Vegeta's power. In an attempt to save himself, Dodoria tries to bargain with Vegeta, offering to tell the secret behind the destruction of the Saiyan homeworld. Vegeta takes him up on the offer and releases him, as Dodoria informs Vegeta of the planet's true fate, and at the same time takes the opportunity to try and fly back to Frieza. Vegeta, however, is not in a forgiving mood and reveals his anger at being their pawn, while declaring they would pay. He ruthlessly eliminates the fleeing Dodoria with a Finish Blaster.

Codex Statistics

Grade: B

Tier: 7-A. Varies-E with Strongest Charged Blast

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Power Source: Ki (All beings in Dragon Ball[1][2][3] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[4], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[5] block attacks that would otherwise[6] kill them from[7] raising their guard[8], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[9])

Attack Potency: Metropolis level (Potency) (Thought Vegeta's power level of 18,000 was low, being shocked that he reached 24,000, making him above the likes of Nappa who casually destroyed a city and stood within the blast without having any damage, and Raditz who can cause explosions dwarfing the mountains, which results in these levels of energy). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast (Charged Blast have one focus all of their energy into one single point[10], putting the blasts power far beyond what their peak strength is[11], allowing them to destroy things they couldn't prior with their regular attacks[12], this also allows them to use charged attacks that can stop enemies far beyond their level, such as Tien Shinhan pushing back Semi-Perfect Cell with his Neo Ki-Ko-Ho[13], along with stopping an attack shot from Buu absorbed Gotenks[14]. Strongest charged blast can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[15], with blasts capable of[16] seriously damaging/destroying[17] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[18]. Charged Blast also rely heavily on emotional states for example Gohan not believing in himself[19] was having Cell overpower him in a beam clash[20])

Durability: Metropolis level, Higher with Guard Up (Ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard)

Striking Strength: Metropolis Class (Potency)

Lifting Strength: Class 1 (Superior to Early Saiyan Saga Goku, who before training with King Kai is able to barely move around and jump in gravity that multiplies his weight by ten times, where he's naturally 62 kg, thus making him 620 kg on King Kai's planet)

Travel Speed: High Hypersonic (Superior to Saiyan Saga Son Goku with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds)

Attack Speed: High Hypersonic

Reaction Speed: High Hypersonic (Far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds)

Stamina: Superhuman (Comparable to Vegeta who stood thinking for three days without showing any signs of tiring or growing hungry)

Range: Standard Melee, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)

Intelligence: Below Average Intelligence (Displays to be more of a brute type fighter, rather then having smarts, preferring head on attacks rather then planning out attacks)

Powers and Techniques

Equipment

  • Scouter: A wearable, all-purpose computer that the Frieza Force uses.
  • Battle Armor: Durable armor worn by members of the Frieza Force.

Notable Techniques

  • Flight: The ability to fly with the use of ki.
  • Ki Blast: The most basic form of energy wave.
  • Maximum Buster: Dodoria raises his hands and charges a yellowish-orange energy sphere. Then, he brings his hands forward, and fires it in the form of a large wave of energy at the opponent, inflicting a great amount of damage.
  • Dodoria's Blow: Dodoria says "Interesting..." and disappears in front of his opponent and reappears behind them delivering a powerful punch that goes through their back.
  • Dodoria Head Breaker: As he says "I'll kill you hard", Dodoria charges towards his opponent with a headbutt, with his head spikes causing great pain, and then he pats his head.
  • Energy Cannon: Dodoria fires an energy wave from his mouth.
  • Critical Upper: To use the attack, Dodoria simply uppercuts the opponent, knocking them away, while the force of the attack is so great it causes a small whirlwind around the point of the impact, dealing a huge amount of damage.
  • Tri-Form: Only used in filler in order to attack the Namekians.

Other

Standard Tactics: Dodoria goes for strong attacks and ki attacks.

Weaknesses

Note

  • Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities Goku use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[144].
  • The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.

Trivia

Vegeta with the Pomelo (Zarbon) and Durian (Dodoria) fruits
  • In "DBS episode 2", there is a strong reference serving as a nod to Zarbon and Dodoria when Vegeta is seen with twigs sticking out of his hair and two fruits on both sides that serve as the pun, a Pomelo (Zarbon) sticking out of one side and a Durian (Dodoria) sticking out of the other. Both Zarbon and Dodoria served as primary antagonists to Vegeta.
  • Dodoria, along with Zarbon, are the first and final villains to appear onscreen in the history of all Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. When looking at the manga timeline chronologically, the first movie to take place is the Bardock - The Father of Goku TV Special, where Zarbon and Dodoria appear first (not counting Vegeta, who switches sides). In the final episode of Dragon Ball GT, Zarbon and Dodoria are the final villains to appear onscreen when Goku remembers all the villains who escaped from Hell.
  • In the Hungarian dub, Dodoria is a woman, albeit with a very deep voice.
    • In the Portuguese dub, Dodoria sings opera.[145]
  • In the Greek dub, Dodoria is a woman.
  • Dodoria has the highest body count out of all Frieza's henchmen.

Codex Statistics Questions

Q: What about the planetary feats in Dragon Ball?

A: Planetary feats are normally done through their strongest charged blast, where they can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[146], with blasts capable of[147] seriously damaging/destroying[148] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[149], though they themselves are never capable of leaving this unscathed.

Frieza throws a destroy the planet death ball attack but it doesn't destroy the planet. Goku then interestingly notes the reason the planet didn't blow up is because Frieza was too scared of getting caught in the blast[150] . Vegeta's final flash is noted it's going to destroy the planet and Perfect Cell, who is beyond Vegeta, couldn't tank the blast and had to dodge it last second or it would've killed him[151]. Goku's kamehameha was going to destroy the earth and Cell cannot tank this blast, needing to regenerate[152]. Semi-Perfect Cell explosion was consistently noted it was going to destroy the planet and Gohan and it killed Goku[153]. Ultimate Gohan dies to an attack that destroys the earth, his guard was up too since this was when he was fighting Super Buu[154]. Kid Buu shoots a blast trying to destroy the planet, with Vegeta noting he's going to take himself out with it if he lets it off[155]. In Dragon Ball GT, Great Ape Baby Vegeta shoots a super galick gun that he claims will destroy Earth, when Goku is hit by it, he is knocked out to the point that he can't move for a good while, Elder Kai and Shin later state that Baby is going to shoot another blast that will destroy the planet on, greatly injuring Baby if he's caught in the Blast and will kill everyone on the planet if done[156]. Frieza destroyed the entire earth, killing Vegeta in the process[157]. In the Dragon Ball Super Manga, Gohan tells Goku that he doesn't need to hold anything back and can go all out because anything that happens to the Earth can be restored with Dende and the Dragon Balls. Yet, none of Goku's all out attacks destroy the planet but just heavily causes shockwaves around it[158]. Semi-Perfect Cell unleashes a several blast that destroys several islands Android 16 notes that the attacks are just strong enough to not kill Android 18[159].

In the fight of Trunks vs. Mecha Frieza, who is far stronger than his final form, Mecha Frieza immediately goes for his strongest attack, the Supernova. In the original Z anime King Kai even states this is ten times stronger than the power he used on Namek:

  • DBZ Kai Version[160].
  • Original DBZ Anime Version[161]. The attack is directly noted that it could destroy the planet, but doesn't because Trunks catches it, when Mecha Frieza proceeds to detonate it, the explosion is massive but the planet is still intact, implying Frieza must target the core in order to destroy the planet.
