Background

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Ethan’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

In the middle of his Pokemon journey, Ethan makes it through Ilex Forest with Brando, wanting to find a Pokemon Center in Goldenrod City. Upon reaching Goldenrod City, the Pokemon Center is strangely closed, Ethan questions why this is before going forward to try to ask someone for help. He comes across a woman acting strangely with blood on her, coming closer to him. Before she can reach him, she his shot by a man with sunglasses, Ethan questions the man for why he did this before passing out and waking up in a safe house.

Ethan learns that all of Goldenrod has been hit with a massive plague, turning people into the undead, and that to survive in the city he needs to use his Brando to fight his way through the zombies and find potential ways to get out of the city.

It is eventually revealed by Whitney that the reason for the plague is due to Team Rocket using the Goldenrod Tower to enhance the waves of an artifact causing the infection to spread all across Johto.

Notable Techniques

Scratch

A physical attack used by Brando against the zombies, it causes knockback when the opponent is hit[1].

Slash

This technique was found through a TM that was in between the heart pills given to Walter[1].

It deals double damage against enemies[1].

Ember

A special attack used by Brandoa gainst the zombies, it is a ranged attack that does not cause knockback[1].

Flamethrower

This technique is taught to Brando by Harold as he used to be a firebreather[1]. This attack can actually knockback enemies and deals double damage[1].

Other

Standard Tactics: Ethan utilizes Brando to fight against enemies, standing behind Brando while letting Brando lead the way[1]; if Brando at all dies/is fainted, then Ethan effectively has no battle strategies left and will lose himself[1].

Weaknesses

Explanations

The Infection

The infection is a disease that spread across Johto due to the incompetence of Team Rocket.

The infection was caused by an artifact which Team Rocket stole[1]. Team Rocket read the text saying "The power to make everyone weak-willed and dangerous" and interpreted this as they would be able to mind control people[1].

Team Rocket raided the Goldenrod City Radio Tower to link up the artifact to the radio tower and spread its waves across all of Johto[1].

These effects started reviving recently deceased humans and Pokemon[1].

It's noted by Professor Elm that every single person and Pokemon in the country is infected regardless of whether they were bitten or not, so if they die they will turn into a zombie[1].
