Power Source

Introduction
Power Source refers to the origin of energy, strength, or abilities that a character relies upon to perform their feats or sustain their capabilities. Power sources may come from within the character, such as their natural biology or inner energy, or from external factors, such as objects, entities, or environmental elements.
Similar to Environmental Destruction, a Power Source is essentially a non-combat applicable source of Attack Potency or overall energy that a character can tap into during combat or other scenarios. However, most power sources are not infinitely sustainable, meaning characters must carefully manage or draw from these reserves to avoid depleting them entirely. Over-reliance or full usage of a power source often leads to exhaustion, significant drawbacks, or loss of strength. The amplification provided by power sources is typically unquantifiable and often temporary, making their impact situational.
Power Sources can also explain variations in a character's power, as their strength may depend on how much of the source they can access or how effectively they utilize it.
Types of Power Sources
Power Sources can be categorized into several types based on their origin or nature. Below are common examples:
Biological Power Sources
Power derived from a character's physiology, natural abilities, or inherent traits.
- Examples: Chi, life force, adrenaline, stamina, genetic enhancements.
Elemental Power Sources
Power rooted in manipulation or absorption of natural or supernatural elements.
- Examples: Fire, water, wind, earth, lightning, ice, and other elemental energies.
Nuclear Power Sources
Power derived from nuclear energy, atomic radiation, or similar processes. Characters with nuclear power sources often exhibit immense destructive potential.
- Examples: Atomic radiation, nuclear fission or fusion.
Cosmic Power Sources
Energy originating from celestial or universal phenomena, such as stars, galaxies, or the fabric of the cosmos itself.
- Examples: Cosmic energy, stardust, solar radiation, or the power of celestial bodies.
Mystical Power Sources
Power rooted in magical or supernatural forces. Characters may draw power from spells, magical artifacts, or mystical entities.
- Examples: Arcane energy, enchanted items, divine blessings, demonic pacts.
Multiversal Power Sources
Energy derived from the multiverse or alternate dimensions. This is often associated with characters possessing high-tier or reality-bending abilities.
- Examples: Dimensional energy, parallel universes, multiversal convergence.
Sound-Based Power Sources
Energy generated or manipulated through soundwaves, vibrations, or resonance.
- Examples: Sonic vibrations, harmonics, echolocation.
Technological Power Sources
Energy derived from advanced machinery, devices, or artificial constructs.
- Examples: Batteries, reactors, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence.
Divine or Infernal Power Sources
Power granted by gods, celestial beings, or demonic entities. Characters with these sources are often seen as champions or emissaries of higher forces.
- Examples: Godly blessings, hellfire, angelic grace, demonic contracts.
Environmental Power Sources
Power obtained from specific environments, such as certain terrains or atmospheric conditions.
- Examples: Sunlight, moonlight, geothermal energy, underwater pressure.
Possible Uses
- Amplifying strength, speed, or durability.
- Unlocking hidden abilities or transformations.
- Sustaining prolonged combat or intense attacks.
- Powering specific weapons, armor, or equipment.
- Creating energy-based constructs or attacks.
- Manipulating the environment or fundamental forces.
Possible Limitations
- Over-reliance on the power source can lead to exhaustion or vulnerability if the source is depleted.
- The power source may require specific conditions to activate (e.g., proximity to radiation, alignment with cosmic phenomena).
- Characters may lose access to their power source due to external interference or sabotage.
- Power fluctuations or instability may occur if the source is not properly controlled.
Examples
- Godzilla (Godzilla Franchise): Godzilla possesses a radiation-based energy source that powers his iconic atomic breath, derived from the atomic bomb that mutated him.
- Kombatants (Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe): During the events of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, characters' powers fluctuated due to exposure to rage energy, causing their strength to vary.
