Background

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Pichu Brothers’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

The Pichu Brothers made their debut in Pikachu & Pichu, where they encountered Ash's Pikachu after he became lost when he fell from a nearby building. At the time, Ash was preparing a party to celebrate the anniversary of when he and Pikachu first met. Together, Pikachu and the Pichu Brothers traveled across Big Town while being chased by a Houndour, who eventually helped them when the local Pokémon Playhouse began to collapse. In Of Meowth and Pokémon (Part One), the Pichu Posse became caught up in a mix-up involving Smoochum's picnic basket and Meowth's basket.

In Of Meowth and Pokémon (Part Two), Meowth recruited the Posse to help deliver pizzas and do garden maintenance to earn money. Both jobs went badly wrong—the pizzas were ruined or eaten before delivery, and the parkland was flooded after a series of accidents. To apologize, the Pichu Brothers and their friends gave Meowth some acorns.

In Trouble in Big Town, the Pichu Brothers argued heatedly over who would go down a slide first. Pichu Little and Wooper ran off, fleeing to a nearby park where Pichu Little stole a vendor's helium balloons. He floated into the air and had to deal with shifting wind currents and a Murkrow while Pichu Big and the others searched the city for him. The Posse was eventually reunited and returned to the Clubhouse to play again.

In Big Meowth, Little Dreams (Part One), the Pichu Posse helped Meowth track down his missing sandwich and later discovered the invisible culprit, a Kecleon. It explained that it had stolen the food to feed a lost Azurill—the same Azurill that Azumarill had been expecting earlier that day. With both mysteries solved, the Pichu Brothers and their friends joined Azumarill for a dinner celebrating Azurill's arrival.

In Big Meowth, Little Dreams (Part Two), Azumarill asked the Pichu Brothers to look after Azurill, but the young Pokémon wandered off while under their watch. They later found Azurill safe in an alleyway.

In Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, Meowth planned to throw a party, but the Pichu Brothers and their friends had not received invitations. They set out to find one, only to discover that an Azumarill had been holding their invitations the entire time and had not yet delivered them. The invitations then flew away, leading to another adventure to retrieve them.

In Camp Pikachu, the Pichu Brothers became lost far from home after a train ride. With help from Pikachu, several of Ash's and Misty's Pokémon, and a Wynaut, they managed to catch a train back home.

The Pichu Brothers and the Clubhouse appeared during the credits of the Japanese version of The Rise of Darkrai and made another cameo at the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

Their most recent appearance was in Meloetta's Moonlight Serenade, where they were among the Pokémon watching Meloetta's concert.

The Pichu Brothers also appeared in the 2001 version of Mezase Pokémon Master, running along a pipe beneath a bridge where Ash and his friends were standing.

Relationships

Pichu Posse

The Pichu Posse is a group of Pokémon residing in Big Town who frequently join the Pichu Brothers on their adventures. Several members of the group made their debut in the Pokémon short Pikachu & Pichu.

This dropdown contains the whole Posse. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!
Azumarill ♀
Debut Trouble in Big Town
Voice actors
Japanese Kotono Mitsuishi
English Kayzie Rogers
Azumarill first appeared in Trouble in Big Town. It was making flower chains in a local park when it spotted Pichu Little and Wooper rolling towards heavy traffic, so it used a Water Gun to propel them across the busy road. It later pointed Pichu Big and the others to Pichu Little's location.

Later Magby called Azumarill in to deal with the Pichu Brothers fighting again. However it was accidentally electrocuted, causing Azumarill to use Water Gun in rage. Smoochum and Magby used their Icy Wind and Flamethrower attacks to combat the Water attacks, creating a complex of icy slides. The Pokémon put aside their differences to then play on the slides together.

Azumarill briefly appeared in Of Meowth and Pokémon (Part 1), where it invited the Pichu Posse to enjoy some acorns. It became cross after the Posse became impatient and knocked all the nuts onto the busy road.

In Big Meowth, Little Dreams (Part 1), Azumarill was busy preparing a picnic for its visiting friend Azurill. Meowth accidentally destroyed Azumarill's setting while hunting a sandwich thieving Kecleon. Afterwards, Azumarill invited everyone, including Meowth to enjoy Azurill's welcome party.

During Big Meowth, Little Dreams (Part 2), Azumarill was again preparing a picnic lunch for Azurill. It remained behind while the Pichu Posse tried to re-locate Azurill, who wandered off.

In Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, Meowth was going to throw a party. However, the Pichu Brothers and their friends had not received an invitation and so they went on a quest to find one. In the end, an Azumarill had their invitations all along and hadn't gotten around to delivering them yet. However, they flew away, which led to another adventure to track them down.

Azumarill made a small cameo alongside the other Big Town Pokémon at the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

Azumarill is kind and generous, often preparing picnics for friends. However, when angered, Azumarill will attack with a barrage of Water Guns. It spends much of its time amongst the flowers of a Big Town park.

Azumarill's only known move is Water Gun.

Azurill
Debut Big Meowth, Little Dreams (Part 1)
Azurill was due to arrive in Big Town in Big Meowth, Little Dreams (Part 1), to visit its friend Azumarill. It was later revealed that a friendly Kecleon saw Azurill, and took it to a drain pipe to get it out of the rain. With Azurill found, Azumarill invited everyone to enjoy Azurill's welcome party.

During Big Meowth, Little Dreams (Part 2), Azurill wandered off as Azumarill was preparing a picnic lunch. While the Pichu Posse searched Big Town for it, Azurill was interrupting Meowth's attempts to woo a Skitty by stealing his rose bouquet, cake and ruining his guitar serenade. Meowth's yelling lead the Pichu Brothers and their friends to find Azurill down an alleyway, and rescue it in time.

Azurill is a cheery and innocent Pokémon, though it puts itself at risk because of its wild curiosity and tendency to wander off.

Azurill knows the move Water Gun.

Feraligatr
Debut Trouble in Big Town
Feraligatr debuted in Trouble in Big Town. It noticed the Pichu Posse and Houndour being carried off by the river current, so it dived in and rescued them. With a flick of its tail, Pichu Big and friends landed safely while Houndour was put into the path of a Snorlax who squashed it in its sleep.

It reappeared briefly in Big Meowth, Little Dreams (Part 2), where it leaped out in time to help a runaway Azurill cross the river safely.

Feraligatr resides in a Big Town river, and it is willing to help anyone in need make a safe river crossing.

Houndour
Debut Pikachu and Pichu
Voice actors
Japanese Naoki Tatsuta
Houndour debuted in Pikachu & Pichu, where it chased after Ash's Pikachu and the Pichu Brothers after they landed on its back. In its rage it ran directly into the Pokémon Clubhouse, which caused the junk-constructed playground to begin collapsing. Houndour lent its strength to help save the Clubhouse from toppling completely.

Houndour reappeared in Of Meowth and Pokémon (Part 2), but it stopped pursuing the Posse after being burned to a crisp by Magby.

Houndour's sleep was interrupted in Trouble in Big Town, when yellow paint was accidentally spilled on it by the Pichu Posse. It chased them down to the river, and its momentum lead everyone to take a dive. A Feraligatr came to their rescue, but Houndour was tossed directly into Snorlax's path, where it was squashed under its weight.

In Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, the Pichu Brothers jumped on Houndour's head while chasing after a flyaway invitation. Houndour quickly gave chase, even seeing through the Brother's makeshift Piloswine disguise. It bided its time as the Pichu fled into a building before the chase resumed. It ended when Houndour was sent blasting off by a broken water hydrant and then flattened by a Snorlax.

Houndour made a small cameo alongside the other Big Town Pokémon at the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

Houndour is a constant source of trouble for the Pichu Brothers and their friends. A running gag involves the Houndour getting hurt in some sort of way, usually being flattened by a local Snorlax. It is a cunning Pokémon, but very prone to rage.

Magby
Debut Pikachu and Pichu
Voice actors
Japanese Yūji Ueda
Magby first appeared in Pikachu & Pichu. After the Clubhouse was ruined by a rampaging Houndour, Magby lent its strength and later used Flamethrower to weld the pipe slide back together.

In Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, Magby helped the Pichu brothers look for invitations to Meowth's party.

Magby is a brave and yet short-tempered Pokémon, preferring to attack over rationalizing.

Magby knows the move Flamethrower.

Meowth ♂
Debut Pokémon Emergency!
Voice actors
Japanese Inuko Inuyama
English Maddie Blaustein
Main article: Meowth (Team Rocket)

In Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, Meowth threw a big party for the Pokémon of the city where he was serving lots of fruit. The party was invitation-only and Meowth assigned the task of delivering invitations to Azumarill.

Murkrows
Debut Pikachu & Pichu
Murkrow first appeared in Pikachu & Pichu, along with some of its friends. Later a single Murkrow noticed Pikachu attempting to cling onto a rope as he hung between two buildings. Instead of assisting, Murkrow loosened the rope tie at one end, though a few passing Hoppip helped Pikachu to safety.

In Trouble in Big Town, Pichu Little was sent flying off into the distance after stealing some balloons from a park vendor. The mischievous Murkrow made things only more difficult, when it began popping all the balloons. Luckily Wooper used Water Gun in time, making for a softer landing.

Murkrow and its friends made a small cameo alongside the other Big Town Pokémon at the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

The Murkrow are troublemakers and feared across Big Town. They have a menacing stare and get a thrill out of putting others into harm's way.

Smeargle
Debut Pikachu and Pichu
Voice actors
Japanese Kōichi Sakaguchi
Smeargle was among the many Pokémon that were shown playing at the Pokémon Clubhouse in Pikachu & Pichu. It later lent a hand after the Clubhouse began to collapse because of Houndour's actions.

In Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, Smeargle was playing with its friend Aipom at the park amphitheatre when the Pichu Posse arrived demanding to know about the strange crescent-shaped cards everyone has. Using Smeargle's tail, Aipom painted a picture of fruit and a clock tower, directing the Posse over to the location of Meowth's upcoming party.

It reappeared in Big Meowth, Little Dreams (Part 1), while Meowth and the Pichu Posse where looking for a sandwich thief. Pichu Big has Smeargle splash the paint on its tail everywhere, which revealed the invisible culprit to be a Kecleon.

Smeargle made a small cameo alongside the other Big Town Pokémon at the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

Smeargle is cheery and playful, often spending its days painting walls across Big Town with bright colors.

Smoochum ♀
Debut Pikachu and Pichu
Voice actors
Japanese Megumi Hayashibara
English Tara Jayne
In Of Meowth and Pokémon (Part One), Smoochum's basket of cosmetics was accidentally mixed up by Meowth, who bumped into her, and grabbed what he thought was his picnic basket full of food. She alerted the Pichu Posse to the situation, and her basket was later returned after Meowth left it on the ground while trying to catch his own basket.

In Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, Smoochum was the first to learn of Meowth's party after seeing everyone holding the crescent-shaped invitations. She alerted the Pichu Posse, who were yet to receive their invites, and helped the Pichu brothers look for invitations to Meowth's party.

Smoochum is very worried about her appearance, often shown applying makeup and looking at herself in a mirror.

Smoochum knows the move Icy Wind.

Snorlax
Debut Pikachu and Pichu
Voice actors
Japanese Katsuyuki Konishi
Snorlax is a recurring character throughout the Pichu Brothers shorts. First appearing in Pikachu & Pichu, it rolled over in its sleep and crushed Houndour as it was chasing after the Pichu Brothers and Pikachu.

In Of Meowth and Pokémon (Part 2), Snorlax rolled onto Teddiursa as it was about to tuck into some pizza it was supposed to deliver. It appeared in Trouble in Big Town and again in Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, where it accidentally squashed Houndour who was again pursuing the Pichu Brothers and their friends.

Snorlax made a small cameo alongside the other Big Town Pokémon at the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

Snorlax is a restless sleeper, with unfortunate Pokémon like Houndour, being squashed under its weight.

Squirtle Squad
Debut Here Comes the Squirtle Squad
Voice actors
Japanese Ikue Ohtani
English Eric Stuart
Three members of the Squirtle Squad first appeared firing Water Gun at Smoochum in Of Meowth and Pokémon (Part 2). They returned in Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, where they pitched in to set up the party and stood guard over the food to keep thieves away.

Teddiursa
Debut Trouble in Big Town
Voice actors
Japanese Yuri Shiratori
English Tara Jayne
Teddiursa's hunger set off the chain of events in Of Meowth and Pokémon (Part One), where it emptied Meowth's picnic basket and left him disappointed.

In Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, Teddiursa joined the Pichu brothers in hunting for invitations to Meowth's party.

Teddiursa is greedy by nature — it was caught sneaking bites of the pizza it was meant to deliver, along with food from the basket headed for Meowth. It's easily distracted by the smell of food, and it naps in the park where it keeps its treasured acorns safe from other hungry Pokémon.

Wooper
Debut Pikachu and Pichu
Voice actors
Japanese Mayumi Shintani
English Mayumi Shintani
In Trouble in Big Town, Wooper left with Pichu Little for a park after the Pichu Brothers argued. Once Pichu Little swiped helium balloons and was sent airborne, Wooper joined the rest of the Posse in searching for him, and its Water Gun later softened Pichu Little's landing.

In Pichu Bros. in Party Panic, Wooper helped the Pichu brothers look for invitations to Meowth's party.

Wooper is easygoing and almost always smiling, but it's clumsy on land and often oblivious to what's happening, so the other Posse members aim its Water Gun to cushion landings.

Wooper knows the move Water Gun.

Trivia

  • The Pichu Brothers' designs are similar to Ash's Pikachu and Sparky, as one has a scruff of hair atop its head while the other does not. This is likely done on purpose.
  • The Pichu Brothers appear as a Poké Doll plush toy.
  • Pichu Little shares the same voice actor with his counterpart in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Codex Statistics Questions

Q: Shouldn't at least late series Pokémon get Faster Than Light due to being able to dodge solar beam?

A: Solar beam is absorbing light and then shooting out a blast, it is not a light speed attack but an energy blast that absorbs light energy. On top of this, Pokémon cannot dodge this move without lowering the opponents accuracy or raising their own speed. Dazzling Gleam is a flash of light that is also 100% accuracy. Flash which is a literal flash of light is 100% accuracy. So it's clear light speed attacks are generally unmissable unless their accuracy drop or a character ups their speed to make it harder to tag them. Further examples of them not being this speed, Dragonite is pretty consistently stated in its pokedex as an impressive speed feat for it to circle the globe in 16 hours, and Garchomp is treated as impressive for being able to keep up with planes and fly at sonic speeds. Pidgeot is hyped for being able to fly at Mach 2[4].
