Background

Princess Daisy, or casually Daisy, is the princess of Sarasaland and a recurring character in the Mario franchise. She is a tomboy, which is something first stated in her debut appearance, Super Mario Land. Her name, attire, emblems, and special abilities are often flower-based.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Princess Daisy’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Princess Daisy makes her debut appearance in Super Mario Land. Tatanga, a space alien, invades Daisy's nation, Sarasaland, in order to marry her and make her his queen. He kidnaps Daisy, and hypnotizes all the land's inhabitants, enslaving them into his army. Mario attempts to rescue Daisy and bring peace to Sarasaland by traveling through each of the four kingdoms in pursuit of Tatanga to try and defeat him.

Throughout the game, enemies disguise themselves as Daisy to trick Mario into believing he has rescued her (specifically, the Birabuto, Muda, and Easton Kingdoms had a Fly, a Gunion, and a Kumo posing as the princess, respectively.). In the end Daisy is rescued, but Tatanga manages to escape. Daisy thanks Mario, and the two fly away in a jet.

The instruction booklet calls Daisy "Daisy Princess" on the thirteenth page, even though her official name is "Princess Daisy" (as seen elsewhere in the manual). This is likely because of the Japanese styling for Daisy's name, Deiji-hime, places the word for "Daisy (Deiji)" before the word for "Princess (hime)".

Daisy was added to the roster of playable characters in the version 3.0.4 update of Super Mario Run to coincide with the new addition of the Remix 10 mode. This marks Daisy's first return to the main Super Mario series of games; appearing in Super Mario Land almost 30 years prior. With the update, the Remix 10 pipe is opened, and Toad informs the player Daisy is lost within the world. The player must try to find her and help bring her back. Clearing short, consecutive courses advances Mario through spaces on a map of numbered areas. Daisy is unlocked once Area 30 is cleared; where she is found and curtsies Mario before thanking him. Daisy's special ability is the double jump, and it is unique to her. After jumping once, she can jump again in midair to boost her jump height and distance a bit.

City Block level (Stated to be stronger then Princess Peach, one-shot Bowser, can easily defeat Boom Boom, who is a consistent challenging threat to Mario. Mario has been able to casually destroy castles on multiple occasions. Comparable to Bowser and the Koopalings, who can survive being crushed by their own castle. Comparable to Yoshi, who can defeat Baby Bowser as he's bigger than his castle), up to Island level (Can harm Wario, defeated Bowser during Mario Party 5, making her comparable to Mario, Princess Peach, Luigi, and the rest of the cast), Higher with King Bask's Power (Bestowed with King Bask's power temporarily, making her far more powerful before letting her beat a Lucien amped Wario and Waluigi who she stated prior to the amp she had no way of beating), Far Higher with Power-Ups (Many of Daisy's general items increase her strength. Mario's been a highly skilled doctor as early as an infant, curing diseases and life threatening viruses and he even created his own medicine that cured a patient a scientist himself could not, which Doctor Daisy is comparable too. With the Golden Mushroom, when used, the player using it will roll three Dice Blocks. The digits of all three rolls are added together, and the player will move equally much. With the Reverse Mushroom, when used, the player using it will choose a player to target (this can also be the player who uses the Mushroom). The next time the selected player moves, that player will have to go backwards the amount of steps as shown on the Dice Block. With the Poison Mushroom, when used, the player using it will choose a player to target (can also be the player who uses the mushroom). The next time that the chosen player moves, that player's Dice Block will only be able to roll numbers from one to three. The Mega Mushroom causes players to be giant and roll two Dice Blocks. The Mini Mushroom causes players to be tiny. It also restricts the Dice Block; instead of rolling 1-10, it only rolls 1-5. A Super Mega Mushroom has generally the same effects as a Mega Mushroom except that players roll three Dice Blocks instead of two. A Super Mini Mushroom has generally the same effects as a Mini Mushroom except that players roll two 1-5 Dice Blocks instead of one. With the Slow ‘Shroom orb, has the dice block move slowly), Fire Manipulation (With the Podoboo orb, burns an enemy causing them to lose 10 coins), Electricity Manipulation (With the Zap Orb, electrocutes them with each step they take, causing them to lose 5 coins each step), Air Manipulation (With the Tweester orb, blows an opponent away to another space), Explosion Manipulation & Status Effect Inducement (With Bob-omb orb, explodes and causes the opponent to halve their movement), Teleportation (With the Koopa Troopa Orb, Switches places with any opponent who passes it), Power Nullification (With the Toady Orb, takes any orb from an opponent that comes into contact with it. With the Duel Capsule, forces a player into a duel that takes them into another mini game that’s a separate dream), Power Nullification (When a player is affected by this capsule, the affected player will be forced to move ten spaces forward. During this, the player will lose all of their capsules and can not choose which direction to take at a junction. Mr. Blizzard capsule takes all of the opponents orbs. Ukiki Capsule causes a opponent chosen to lose all of their capsules. Lakitu Capsule steals a capsule from an opponent), Explosion Manipulation (With the Bob-omb capsule, will cause the opponent to lose 20 coins from its explosion), Power Modification (With the Kamek capsule, summons Kamek who shuffles all the opponents item capsules), Summoning (With the Chain Chomp capsule, summons a chain chomp that can steal coins or stars from an opponent. With the Dueling Glove, when used, a Goomba will appear, initiating a Duel minigame. With the Magic Lamp, when used, the player will summon the Mushroom Genie. With the Lucky Lamp, when used, the Mushroom Jeanie will appear. She will then move the Star from its current location to somewhere else, essentially making it the counter-part of the Magic Lamp. With the Bowser phone, when used, the player will call Bowser. Bowser will then ask who is calling him, the player chooses one of the players. Bowser will then perform his events to that player as if the player landed on a Bowser Space. With the Boo Bell, summons a Boo who will steal a Power Star from another player. With the Lucky Charm, when a player uses this item, they will summon Game Guy. Game Guy will then take all of the player's Coins, and a Game Guy minigame will be initiated. This can also be used to force another player to play a Game Guy minigame. With Dueling Glove, can force an opponent into a duel minigame), Size Manipulation (Able to grow in size and easily one-shot opponents with Mushrooms. When players use a MiniMega Hammer, they may choose another player to be Mega or Mini by hitting them on the head with the hammer; but they can't inflict their own effect. Then, the opponent that player chooses is given the effects of a Mega Mushroom or a Mini Mushroom on the next turn. When players use a Sparky Sticker, they place it directly below where they are standing. If any player tries to pass it, any player currently on said space loses 10 coins plus the effects of a Mega Mushroom or a Mini Mushroom), Limited Status Effect Inducement (With the Boo Repellent, this item will activate itself when a player who is carrying it around is targeted by Boo. The effect it has is that it will fend off Boo), Transformation & Mimicry (Physiology Mimicry; With the Bowser Suit, the player who uses this will get a dress that resembles Bowser), Power Nullification (Players can only acquire this from Bowser when they land on a Bowser Space. If they use this, they go in a Bowser Suit. If they pass anyone else, they steal 30 coins. With the Fly Guy ticket, calls a fly guy to steal an item from an opponent), Power Absorption (With the Plunder Chest, when the player uses this item, the player gets to choose an opponent to steal an item from. If the designated player has more than one item, the item stolen will be chosen randomly. With the Barter Box, when this rare item is used, the player who uses it will choose an opponent. What will then happen is that the player chosen and the player using the item will swap items), Time Manipulation (With the Wacky Watch, when used, this rare item will set the game to such a time that there will be five turns left. Effectively, this can either increase or decrease the time a game is played), Power Modification (The Swap Card randomly chooses another player via roulette and the player who used it swaps items with the chosen player), Energy Projection (Has a mech that shoots out energy beams), Teleportation (With the Warp Block, when used, the Warp Block will appear above the player using it. Notable Techniques

  • Crystal Smash: Daisy punches the ground, summoning a ring of huge sharp orange crystals that surrounds her to knock any opponent around the surrounding area. This move also serves as Daisy's Mega Strike, where she jumps high into the air and then raises her hand charging blue crystals into her clenched fist as her skin turns teal-black and punches the target, emitting shining crystals throughout the Mega Strike. Like other Mega Strikes, the blow has a meteor effect.
  • Wonder Flower: Daisy's racket grows petals and spins around. This causes the ball to fly at normal speed, masking power it hides and after contact, knocks the opponent back about an eighth of the court. Anyone hit by it will lose any power they been storing up and blindly rush against their will.
  • Heart: Daisy surrounds herself in pink hearts, usually during a race, that allows her to absorb any incoming attacks and use it against them.
  • Bubble: Daisy will incase herself in a bubble. Being within the protective bubble will make her impervious to hazards and the attack of her foes.
  • Flower Shot: Daisy begins the shot by dribbling the ball in a triangle, while a small field of flowers grows at her feet as she does so. She then spins slowly into the air and magically casts the yellow-glowing ball into the hoop.
  • Torpedo Strike: Daisy charges herself with energy, then delivers a devastating kick with a flower effect.
  • Flower Hands: Daisy can create flowers in her hands that look similar to pom-poms in order to block attacks, as well as to attack and create her own variation of the spin jump.
  • Magic Weapon: Daisy forges a weapon of pure energy in the shape of a hockey stick. It's only used once in Mario Sport Mix in a fight against the Behemoth.
  • Zone Speed: A technique where Daisy utilizes her energy and heightens her focus into the point the flow of time slows down from her perspective.

Other

Standard Tactics: Daisy is partly a wildcard due to her lack of appearances in mainline games, though it is noted she is a natural user of her flower abilities along with her normally using her item orbs she has in possession and powerups.

Weaknesses: Nothing notable.

Note: In Paper Mario Color Splash, the main point of the game is paint. Paint is a concept. As shown in the game, paint encompasses everything. And I mean everything. Paint is shown to be all of land, liquid, life (Once bringing Toad back via paint, Huey states that paint gives life. Additionally, paint can return the blood, organs, and skin to an old fossil that's been dead years ago), mind (Paint can speak to your mind by coloring your thoughts. Paint was able to take over Bowser's body and freely act on their own. Big Paint Stars are also shown to be alive), memory (Toad couldn't remember anything with the loss of paint on his head. Returning paint gave his memories back), emotions, space (even simple holes require paint to function as holes) and souls. Removing any paint would stop making anything work. It's everything.
