Background

Mitsuba Sousuke used to attend Kamome Academy's middle-school division before he passed away in a car accident. Before his death, he had previously met Minamoto Kou. Sometime in the past, before entering Kamome, he was bullied for his girlish traits and cocky attitude—thus, he began to mask his personality, holding a passive, caring persona in order to make friends. However, this did not help him achieve his goal, and he mostly faded away into the background of his class and didn't form any close friendships while he was still alive. Due to his lifelong desire to have friends, his soul remained attached to the middle school following his death, haunting the locker rooms and often asking students if they remembered him. Kou confronted him once he was made aware, and together they tried to help Mitsuba fulfill his wish and pass on. Mitsuba did not remember much from his past, only that he had held a camera that was donated to the photography club. It is later seen that he was part of the said club and often took pictures for the school albums, as noted by the pictures taken of Nene's gardening club. Nene remembers that he was a boy that won many awards for his photographs, but Mitsuba rarely brings it up. While he was still alive, Mitsuba was very close with his mother after his father passed away, though he often teased her for her appearance and style of clothing. Mitsuba was first introduced through a rumor of a ghost that haunts the middle school lockers, grabbing people as they change their shoes and asking them "Do you remember me?". Kou caught him on the act when he grabbed his arm, and after consulting with Hanako, Kou decided to help him finish his unfinished business so he could move on from the world of the living.

Mitsuba appears after the disembodied hands dragged Nene into the 3rd School Mystery's boundary. The two progress through the Hell of Mirrors together and attempt to find a way to exit or find the Mystery's yorishiro. Mitsuba jeers at and teases Nene, but since she agrees to help him out and is nice to him, he seems to like her. After Tsukasa appears and defeats the Mystery, he attempts to force Mitsuba to consume its heart in order to become stronger. Mitsuba, clearly upset and scared by this, attempts to escape from Tsukasa until Nene tells Tsukasa to stop. Eventually, he does but end up consuming the heart, and assumes the role of the 3rd Mystery, gaining a new outfit and enhanced abilities. When Kou and Hanako enter the area, Kou is shocked to see his former friend, and attempts to speak with him. However, Mitsuba does not remember Kou, and it is revealed that the Mitsuba in the Hell of Mirrors was created by Tsukasa from part of the old Mitsuba's soul. As a result, the new Mitsuba does not remember his life as a human or his time spent as a ghost. He does, however, have the same personality and even refers to Kou by the same mocking nickname as he did before. Tsukasa tells Mitsuba that he can do anything he wants as a school mystery, and so Mitsuba wishes to become a real human and live a normal life. However, Hanako dissuades him from this, since neither ghosts nor created supernaturals can be allowed to live as humans. Mitsuba appears as a normal classmate of Kou's, as if his death back in his 2nd year had never happened. Later, it's revealed that the fake world's version of Mitsuba is actually the one from the real world, having been brought to this world by Mei in order to grant his wish to live as a human. He reveals that he has seen everything that the old Mitsuba experienced, both in life and death, and is jealous of him. He believes that Kou is not actually his friend, and does not want to be. Kou disagrees, and says that he still wants to be his friend, going so far as to say the two could die together in order to prove it.

When Nene and Kou tried to find a way out, he wanted them to forget so he could stay there forever When Kou was going to take that away from him, he said that he wished that everyone could die so he can finally make friends with everyone. He doesn’t actively want to kill anyone though This went so far that Kou tried to kill himself in order to make Mitsuba feel better. He saved Kou in the end and reluctantly allowed Kou free everyone from the fake world. He doesn't have an issue with siding with Tsukasa's team, but he always makes it a point that he is scared of all of them and doesn't agree with some of their practices)

This can be best seen when Mitsuba showed that he was able to travel to his boundary with in the fictional world. Which has infinite universes in it. If his Boundary gets destroyed, it will collapse and destroy anything inside, destroying their entire being and erasing them from existence)

Mitsuba was able to interact with Hanako and Shijima Mei several time. He was also able to interact with supernatural arms in order to get Nene Yashiro to help him), Self-Sustenance (Types 1 ,2, and 3. Due to being a supernatural, Mitsuba doesn't need to breathe. After Nene was transported to another part of Shijima Mei's boundary, she states that the other world will be destroyed soon after. In said boundaries, they can completely remove the laws of physics like gravity, Life and Death, the rules of the Near Shore and Far Shore and many more. This can be best seen when Mitsuba wanted to become a human in his boundary. This version of Mitsuba is shown to be a pure apparition which was never alive in the living world to begin with, thus, making it impossible to become human in both the living world and the world of the dead. Mitsuba was later seen becoming a human in a boundary despite it being impossible. Should scale to Hanako, who nullified Kou's abilities with a seal. While in a boundary, A School Wonder is able to passively nullify a person's powers while in a boundary with the only way to get them back is to ask the School Wonder permission. This is best seen when Hanako states that a boundary can negate your powers entirely. This can be best seen with Shijima Mei. She was able to nullify everyone's powers while they were in her boundary. Nene can turn into a fish when she gets wet and she wasn't able to use this ability while in Shijima Mei's Boundary. She also took away Mitsuba and Hanako's powers for a long time while they were in her boundary. Even after Hanako Resisted the affects of her law manipulation and power nullification, she was able to nullify Hanako's abilities), Perspective Manipulation (Should scale to the other School Wonders, who are able to create the rules and reality of their boundaries from nothing. The School Wonder is able to make any rule that they want within their Boundary and that is where they are at their strongest), Invulnerability (Every School Wonder has a Yorishiro within the deepest part of the boundary. A Yorishiro is the most precious possession of a School Wonder and acts as a battery that provides the Wonder with their power. It protects the Wonder from all damage and death with it's still intact while also protecting them from status ailments), BFR (Mitsuba is able to take anyone who is near a reflective surface, like a mirror, and drag them into or away his boundary), Personal Nonexistence (Ayin Physiology; When a supernatural is destroyed completely, their rumor gets erased and will not exist in the conventional sense. Scales to Hanako who was able to resist his rumors completely. Hanako's rumor says that he was a girl who grants wishes with an orb. Hanako turned out to be a boy who doesn't grant wishes with an orb despite his rumors saying so. Mei Shijima was also able to reject her rumors causally in a conversation with Nene Yashiro), Regeneration Negation and Irreversible Damage (Mitsuba, along with the other supernaturals, is able to regenerate after the severance, which is supposed to completely stop you from regenerating back), Electricity Manipulation (Should scale to Tsuchigomori and Hanako, who were completely unaffected by the electricity coming from Teru's weapon. Scales to Hanako, who was fine after getting hit with an attack from an exorcist. When Nene Yashiro was turned into a fish, Hanako stated that he'd share the curse with Nene in order to make her life as normal as possible. He also states, that whenever you get wet when cursed, you'd turn into a fish instantly. Hanako has been shown to have lots of guilt and regrets and it was stated if he were to go in there, everyone would instantly die. Each wonder is able to go to other boundaries and resist the power nullification that exists there. Teru states that supernaturals that live in the Wonders' boundaries don't follow the laws of the human world and they can actively go against them. She should also scale to the other School Wonders, who are able to use their abilities in other boundaries), Nothingness Manipulation and Corrosion Inducement (Should scale to Shinigami, who was unaffected by the voids that were appearing all over Shinigami's boundary. These voids are able to rot your body away into nothing by getting near them. Standard Tactics: Mitsuba doesn't particularly like fighting so he'll just try to brag about his cuteness. If he were forced to attack, Mitsuba would attack with his scarf to keep the opponents at a distance and crush their soul. As a last ditch effort, Mitsuba will drag you from your current location into another one and seal you in there

Weaknesses: If Mitsuba's Yorishiro gets destroyed, he becomes greatly weakened and will lose control of his boundary. Mitsuba is extremely scared of knives
