'''Standard Tactics:''' Thorin is an extremely defensive fighter. In almost all of his fights, he's seen either dodging around attacks to tire out his foe, or blocking attacks with his shield/sword to wait for an opening. Once he finds any sort of opening after spending a large time dodging/blocking, he will go in for a killing blow immediately. He's also highly intelligent on using his terrain to his advantage, such as when he threw Azog's ball & chain at him in order to increase his weight and sink him below the ice.

Farewell, Master Burglar. Go back to your books, and your armchair. Plant your trees, watch them grow. If more people valued home above gold... this world would be a merrier place...
~ Thorin Oakenshield to Bilbo Baggins

Background

Thorin II, commonly referred to as Thorin Oakenshield, is a primary protagonist of The Hobbit. He is a Dwarf who served as the King's of Durin's Folk during the later years of the Third Age. Forced out of his home and thus stripped of his title as King Under the Mountain by the dragon, Smaug, Thorin could not let go of his pride or riches, and so led the Quest for Erebor to reclaim what was his. During this quest, he would befriend the young Bilbo Baggins.

Once Erebor was reclaimed and Smaug slain, Thorin reclaimed his title of King, though he was quickly overcome by Dragon Sickness, as he frantically searched for the Heart of the Mountain, the Arkenstone. However, with the beginning of the Battle of the Five Armies, Thorin was able to overcome his Dragon Sickness and lead the armies of Men, Elves, and Dwarves into his final battle.

Codex Statistics

Tier: High 10-B, 9-C with Orcrist

Name: Thorin II, Thorin Oakenshield

Origin: Tolkien's Legendarium

Sex: Male

Age: 195 years old

Classification: Dwarf, King of Durin's Folk, King Under the Mountain

Status: Deceased (Allowed for himself to be fatally stabbed by Azog in order to kill him during the Battle of the Five Armies)

Alignment: Chaotic Good (As a Dwarf, Thorin has naturally inherited their innate trait of being extremely stubborn. He has a hard time trusting others, often letting his honor as a prince proceed him. He fights for the good of himself and his people, though his goals to reclaim Erebor are entirely selfish. He holds an immense grudge against Elves, especially Thranduil, and will refuse to put that grudge aside even if it hinders his quest), Chaotic Neutral with Dragon Sickness (Thorin, like his forefathers before him, is incredibly susceptible to Dragon Sickness. This illness is very common in Dwarven leaders, described as the unquenchable desire for gold. Thorin will covet gold above all else, and becomes violently offended by the prospect of parting with even a single coin. He will hoard gold much like a dragon, and turn against even his own brothers if he feels they are stealing from him. This causes for him to break promises of riches he made, even to people in dire need, purely out of his selfish greed)

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: Above Average Human level (Thorin is a formidable swordsman capable of facing large Orcs in direct combat), Bone level with Orcrist (Is a similar weapon to Sting, which can deal more damage than an ordinary sword)

Durability: Above Average Human level, Higher with Oak Shield (Can withstand powerful blows from Azog that would've usually killed him)

Striking Strength: Above Average Human Class

Lifting Strength: Athletic Human

Travel Speed: Athletic Human

Combat Speed: Athletic Human

Reaction Speed: Athletic Human

Stamina: Above Average (Thorin embarked on the Quest for Erebor, which was an extremely long trek with little to no resting points. He's fought and excelled in both the Battle of Moria and the Battle of the Five Armies, serving as a leader to both armies and facing numerous foes as a result)

Range: Standard Melee, Extended Melee with Orcrist

Intelligence: Average academically, Gifted combatively (Thorin is a formidable swordsman, archer, and skilled military leader. He was such a good leader that he could rally together Men, Elves, and Dwarves during the Battle of the Five Armies, despite their differences)

  • Orcrist: An Elvish sword, also known as "Biter" or "The Goblin Cleaver". Orcrist is a legendary weapon most notable for to sheer amount of Goblins it was used to slay, reaching into the hundreds. After a scuffle with a trio of trolls during the Quest of Erebor, Thorin and the company of Dwarves gained access to the troll's cave. Within this cave was a pile of treasure plundered over the course of several years, which included this weapon. Due to its Elvish nature of glowing blue to warn of the presence of orcs and goblins, Thorin claimed it as his own. Following Thorin's death, the Elvenking Thranduil placed Orcrist on his tomb.
  • Oak Shield: During the Battle of Moria, Thorin was facing an Orc chieftain known as Azog. With his sword and shield both having been knocked out of his hands, Thorin turned to desperation, and found an oak branch laying next to him. Before Azog could deal the finishing blow, Thorin raised the oak branch and used it as a shield; this oak shield not only saved Thorin's life, but then allowed for him to get a combative edge on Azog. This event what then christened Thorin with the surname, "Oakenshield".

Other

Standard Tactics: Thorin is an extremely defensive fighter.

Weaknesses: Thorin is highly susceptible to Dragon Sickness, an illness so severe in him that it can lead to him making incredibly rash and violent decisions, even towards his own brothers, all in the name of greed. Dwarves are notoriously stubborn.
