Background
Background
Calem is a young Pokémon Trainer, who serves as the main player protagonist in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. After moving to Vaniville Town in the Kalos region with his mother, Calem quickly became friendly rivals with four young Trainers named Serena, Shauna, Trevor, and Tierno.
Gold, also called Ethan, was a young boy raised by his single mother in New Bark Town, within the Johto region. Growing up, Gold always aspired to become a legendary Pokémon trainer, alongside his best friend Lyra. Fortunately, due to living right next door to the resident Pokémon professor, Professor Elm, Gold would soon get his chance.

Wanting Gold to run an errand for him, Professor Elm entrusted Gold with a Pokémon partner that would protect him during his travels. Gold chose the Fire Type starter, Cyndaquil, and began his short journey. Finally making it to where he needed to be, he met Professor Oak, who sensed Gold’s bond with Cyndaquil and gave him a Pokédex.

However, while he was out, Gold received a phone call from Professor Elm, who informed him that one of his Pokémon back at the lab had been stolen. Gold rushed back, only to run into a young criminal named Silver, who challenged him to a fight. Gold’s Cyndaquil was barely able to take out Silver’s Totodile, and the criminal ran away.

After that brief scuffle, Professor Elm allowed for Gold to keep his Pokémon, and insisted that he take on the Gym Challenge. Eager to do so, Gold would go on to travel throughout the entire Johto region, catching all sorts of Pokémon, and earning himself the eight Gym badges of the region.

During this adventure, Gold would get caught up in a new plot by the disbanded Team Rocket, who were desperately trying to find their leader, Giovanni, and reform. Gold, now with his Cyndaquil having evolved into the powerful Typhlosion, was able to foil this plot and move on to taking on the Elite Four.

At the start of their journey, Calem, Serena, and Shauna end up receiving a Starter Pokémon from Professor Sycamore at the same time, to which Calem received Chespin. He would go on to travel the entire Kalos region, taking on the regional Gym Challenge, as well as completing the Pokédex for the Professor. Along this journey, he would also become tangled in the evil plot of Team Flare, headed by Lysandre.
Gold was able to trample the Elite Four, and came face to face with the Champion, Lance. After an extremely challenging battle, Gold pulled through, and was proudly titled the new Indigo League Champion. Gold wouldn’t stay to defend his title, however, as he decided to further the reaches of his journey into the Kanto region.

Eventually, Calem grew extremely strong as a trainer, conquering both the Gym Challenge and Team Flare as a whole. This brought him to the Kalos Pokémon League, where Calem successfully defeated the Champion, Diantha, and claimed her position. He later went on to take on the Battle Chateau, after which he was awarded the title of "Grand Duke".
Now in Kanto, Gold travelled through this entire region and took on its Gym Challenge as well, earning eight more Gym Badges. At last, he was granted access into Mount Silver, where he climbed to the peak and found a legendary trainer waiting. It was Red, the former League Champion.

Gold and Red engaged in the most legendary Pokémon battle in history at the peak of Mount Silver, with Gold taking the victory. After Red disappeared, Gold and his Typhlosion were left at the top victorious. His future whereabouts were unknown.

I'll always offer a hand to a friend in need. Let me know if you ever want help, OK?
~ Gold

Background
