Zechs Merquise

From The Codex
May you rest in peace, the betrayed and outraged Milliardo Peacecraft.
~ Zechs Merquise

Background

Milliardo Peacecraft, often called Zechs Merquise, is a main antagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, and is a supporting character in its two sequel stories, Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz and New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop. Although a primary antagonist, Zechs is noteworthy in the way that his mindset often aligns with the heroes.

Born Milliardo, Prince of the Sanc Kingdom, he was raised to be a pacifist to his very core by his father. Along with his younger sister, Relena, Milliardo was on the path for pacifism and world peace. However, the destruction of the Sanc Kingdom shook Milliardo to his core, and set him on a path of vengeance. After this moment, Milliardo became a mobile suit pilot, and took up the identity as the Lightning Baron, Zechs Merquise.

For a long while, Zechs would serve as a commanding officer in the OZ organization, though the desruction of his helmet resulted in the reclaiming of his identity as Milliardo, and he soon left. As the war continued and Milliardo's path towards protecting Relena and maintaining peace grew increasingly difficult, he would soon find himself disillusioned as Zechs Merquise once more; now the Commander in Chief of White Fang, planning on the total annihilation of Earth.

Zechs was eventually defeated and had his plans foiled by Heero Yuy, an opposing Gundam Pilot, and soon disappeared. Although presumed dead, Zechs would return a year later under the new alias, Wind, in which he would fight alongside his former enemies to save the world. Along the many years of war, Milliardo has piloted multiple mobile suits, such as Tallgeese and Tallgeese III.

His most famously piloted suit, however, would be Gundam Epyon. Much like other Gundam suits, this one was highly formidable. It had the ZERO System installed within it, which gave the pilots premonitions of the future and allows for them to be unstoppable on the battlefield. Zechs would pilot this suit, created by his late friend Trieze Khushrenada, until his defeat at the hands of Heero.

With the war finally coming to an end, and both Earth and the Colonies entering a time of peace, the man known as Wind would decide to take on yet another alias, Cyrene Wind. He settled down with a woman named Lucrezia Noin and had two children; Naina Peacecraft and Mille Peacecraft.

Statistics

Key: Beginning of Series | End of Series | Endless Waltz

Tier: 10-A, 8-B in Tallgeese | 10-A, Low 6-B in Gundam Epyon | 10-A, likely Low 6-B in Tallgeese III

Name: Milliardo Peacecraft, Zechs Merquise, Wind, Cyrene Wind

Origin: Gundam

Sex: Male

Age: 19 years old (Gundam Wing), 20 years old (Endless Waltz), around 30 to 40 years old (Frozen Teardrop)

Classification: The Lightning Baron, OZ Colonel, Romefeller Baron, White Fang Commander, Gundam Pilot

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (Although Zechs seemingly sides with evil, in OZ and the Romefeller Foundation, he is doing this for his own purposes. Not to destroy the Space Colonies, but instead infiltrate the factions that brought ruin to the Sanq Kingdom. He is on a set path for revenge and cares not for the means of which he does this. Once he got what he desired, Zechs almost immediately abandoned his Zechs persona and went back to the Sanq Kingdom, proving that everything he did was for revenge) | Chaotic Evil (After allying himself with White Fang as the pilot of Gundam Epyon, Milliardo had gone mad. With the Sanq Kingdom gone following Relena Peacecraft's surrender, and his legacy in ruin, he found that he had no future left as either Zechs nor Milliardo. The Zero System also continued to twist his brain, which only made his mindset all the more unhinged. Zechs decided once and for all that the Earth was the source of all of his suffering, and sought to destroy it once and for all. He is doing this entirely for self-serving, maniacal reasons, that which could only be had by a man with nothing left to live for) | True Neutral (As the man now known simply as Wind, he appears to be completely ambiguous in terms of morality. He has lost his desire for revenge, lost all that motivated him to perform evil acts, even lost Gundam Epyon, and now seemingly has been reborn as a new person. Wind is truly ambivalent to both good and evil)

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: Athlete level (Zechs is highly trained as an adult man, ouclassing most others. He can pilot the Tallgeese units, which are advanced mobile suits that are fatal for most usual humans to pilot), City Block level in Tallgeese (Tallgeese is equal to standard Gundam mobile suits, which can casually destroy three Leo suits at once, which requires this amount of power) | Athlete level, Small Country level in Gundam Epyon (Epyon is directly comparable to Wing Gundam Zero, which vaporized an entire space colony with its Twin Buster) | Athlete level, likely Small Country level in Tallgeese III (Has been heavily upgraded beyond its first two iterations. It is capable of destroying the entirety of MO-III, and should be similar to the advanced Gundam units)

Durability: Athlete level, City Block level in Tallgeese | Athlete level, Small Country level in Gundam Epyon (Comparable to Wing Gundam Zero, who can withstand the recoil of its Twin Buster) | Athlete level, likely Small Country level in Tallgeese III

Striking Strength: Athlete Class, City Block Class in Tallgeese | Athlete Class, Small Country Class in Gundam Epyon | Athlete Class, likely Small Country Class in Tallgeese III

Lifting Strength: Unknown

Travel Speed: Athletic Human (Can outrun most humans), Massively Hypersonic+ in Tallgeese (Can match Gundam suits which should be similar to Wing Gundam Zero, who could cross a massive distance in only 4 seconds) | Athletic Human, Massively Hypersonic+ in Gundam Epyon (Is equal in speed to Wing Gundam Zero) | Athletic Human (Can outrun most humans), Massively Hypersonic+ in Tallgeese III (Is superior to the original Tallgeese)

Combat Speed: Athletic Human, Massively Hypersonic+ in Tallgeese (Can react to its own flight speed) | Athletic Human, Massively Hypersonic+ in Gundam Epyon | Athletic Human, Massively Hypersonic+ in Tallgeese III

Reaction Speed: Athletic Human, Massively Hypersonic+ in Tallgeese | Athletic Human, Massively Hypersonic+ in Gundam Epyon | Athletic Human, Massively Hypersonic+ in Tallgeese III

Stamina: High

Range: Standard Melee, Tens of Meters in Mobile Suits, Kilometers with laser cannons

Intelligence: Genius (Milliardo is unbelievably intelligent as a soldier, being infamous in every single organization he's participated in, and being awarded high ranks in each of them. He was able to take on four of five of the main Gundam Wing protagonists all at the same time, even being able to counter Quatre Raberba Winner's tactical prowess. He can easily match pilots with several years of experience)

Powers and Abilities

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Superhuman Speed, Large Size (Type 1), Flight, Spaceflight, Information Analysis (Gundams can easily gather and display the data of their enemies), Enhanced Senses (Gundam suits can detect incoming threats), Precognition (Types 1 & 2; The ZERO System will not only analyze a battle and determine all possible outcomes, but can also give the pilots glimpses into the future), Energy Projection (Can fire energy blasts from its cannons and rifles), Curtain Fire (With automatic fire), Transformation (Can transform between Mobile Suit and Bird Form), Heat Manipulation & Magnetism Manipulation (A Gundam suits' Buster Rifle generates heat and a magnetic field), Empathic Manipulation (The ZERO System will control a pilot's emotions if they are too weak-willed), Self-Destruction

Standard Equipment

Dober Gun, Shield, Beam Saber

Beam Sword, Epyon Claw, Epyon Shield, Vulcan Gun, Heat Rod, ZERO System

Vulcan Gun, Mega Cannon, Shield, Heat Rod, Beam Saber

Other

Weaknesses: Often changes allegiances on a dime, due to seemingly having two personalities as Milliardo and Zechs. This seems to be dependent on whether or not his helmet is intact. He is also extremely prideful.
