From The Codex
Revision as of 20:21, 2 August 2024 by GiverOfThePeace (talk | contribs)
Gustavo is Completely Lost... Nobody has seen him since he crawled into the Pizza Dungeon.
~ Toppinbot

Background

Gustavo is a secondary protagonist, as well as secondary playable character of Pizza Tower.

Gustavo is a small person with beady eyes, a big nose, brown hair, and a brown moustache. He wears a brown shirt and a white apron. He also wears a chef's hat, brown pants and shoes. He is generally shown to be a nice person who likes to help others, but he has also been shown to get angry at times. In McPig's words, "Gustavo is super friendly, but don't disappoint him, he'll get back at you."

He first appears in his pizzeria in the game’s opening, searching for the Pizza Tower until he is run into by Peppino. He can be seen throughout the game, guiding Peppino towards the exit in most levels and getting up to shenanigans in the Hub with a Stupid Rat, later dubbed Brick. Gustavo makes his playable debut in Gnome Forest, where he delivers pizzas for the player to deliver to various gnomes throughout the level. He later reappears in a playable role in The Pig City, after Peppino is arrested. He has a house located in Refrigerator-Refrigerador-Freezerator. In War, he shoots random enemy when appearing. In the Pizzahead fight, he appears after first boss refight, where he's used to be thrown at the bosses to stun them.

Codex Statistics

Tier: High 4-A, Higher with Dash

Name: Gustavo, Brick the Rat

Origin: Pizza Tower

Sex: Male (Both)

Age: Likely between mid 20's to 30's for Gustavo, Unknown for Brick

Classification: Chef, Rat

Status: Alive

Alignment: Chaotic Good (Gustavo is generally friendly as he repeatedly helps Peppino throughout the game. Although it is noted that making him angry will make him "get back at you")

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: Multi-Star Cluster level (Comparable to Peppino, as he was able to assist him in his final battle against Pizzaface. Brick can be used as a weapon by Gustavo), Higher with Dash (Gustavo's dash works similar to Peppino's Mach Run in that going faster allows them to defeat stronger enemies)

Durability: Multi-Star Cluster level (Can be used by Peppino as a weapon, being able to survive his attacks), Higher with Dash

Striking Strength: Multi-Star Cluster Class, Higher with Dash

Lifting Strength: Class 5 (Comparable to Peppino, who can lift and throw pineapples of this weight. He can also punch and throw people hard enough to break through walls and be sent flying)

Travel Speed: Supersonic (Comparable to Peppino, who's natural dash speed can outpace a bullet. Gustavo's movements alone can cause afterimages). Up to Supersonic+ with Dash (Gustavo's Dash is comparable to Peppino's Mach Run, which can reach up to Mach 4)

Attack Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Comparable to Peppino)

Reaction Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Due to being able to parry any move in the game, Gustavo should be able to parry enemies that can fire lightning)

Stamina: Superhuman (Can navigate the entire Pizza Tower with Peppino in a sitting)

Range: Standard Melee Range naturally, Extended Melee Range with Brick, Tens of Meters with Super Taunt

Intelligence: Gifted (Both Gustavo and Brick are skilled at navigating the Pizza Tower and solving its various puzzles. Brick is able to drive a taxi, and Gustavo has shown to also possibly have war skills similar to Peppino. It's also possible that Gustavo may be a doctor as shown in his taunts)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Afterimage Creation (Both Gustavo and Brick can create afterimages from movement alone), Multiple Jumps (Can double jump with Brick), Body Control (Both Gustavo and Brick can morph their bodies into the shape of a ball. Gustavo can also enlarge his fists), Vibration Manipulation (Brick can cause the ground to shake upon hitting the floor after double jumping), Acrobatics (Can wall jump by bouncing themselves off of a wall. He can also preform multiple flips), Perfect Guard & Attack Reflection (By taunting right before getting hit, Gustavo can parry any attack while also counterattacking those that have hit him. He can also use this to reflect back projectiles), Vehicular Usage (Animals & Vehicles; Gustavo rides with Brick and can him to fight together as an assistant. Brick can drive a taxi), Regeneration (High-Low; Gustavo and Brick can heal from broken bones), Non-Standard Interaction (Can parry ghosts. Much like Peppino, his Super Taunt kills ghosts), Resurrection & Time Manipulation (Can survive and regenerate from being stabbed, burnt, or crushed. Should be in a similar state to Peppino, as according to Pizza Granny, Peppino is unable to actually die, as a man from his previous life returns and simply does everything over again. This is supported further as any "death" is treated as a technical difficulty that reverses an older point in time, including time-based mechanics such as the combo timer, and further supported by Pizza Tower being inspired by '90s cartoons), Consumption (Brick can eat a balloon to float and puff in the air as an extra jump), Transformation (Gustavo can become a rocket in Deep-Dish 9), Weapon Usage (Can fire Brick out of a canon), Accelerated Development (Can survive attacks from an angry Peppino, who can easily defeat Pizzaface. Pizzaface previously can one-shot both Peppino and Gustavo), Cartoon Physics (Mid; Should function similar to Peppino as Gustavo is also based off of a '90s cartoon).

Resistance to Electricity Manipulation (Appears fine after being electrocuted), Ice Manipulation (Can break out of being frozen solid), Transmutation (Can appear fine from being an animatronic in Don't Make A Sound). Due to Gustavo and Brick's taunt being able to parry/reflect any hazard or attack, this means he can parry the following: Physical Attacks (Can parry against basic attacks), Penetration Damage (Can parry against enemies with piercing damage, such as against the Forknight, Pencer, Tribe Cheese, Potato Farmer, Ranch Shooter, Pinceacool, Spit Cheese, Noise Goblin, Pizzice, Pizza Soldier, or Camembert Squire), Explosion Manipulation (Can parry bombs from Pizza Box Goblin, Noise, Cannon Pizza Goblin, or Cardboard Tank), Electricity Manipulation (Can parry electric/lightning attacks from Pizzard), Smoke Manipulation (Can parry smoke from Pizza Slug), Intangible Attacks (Can parry attacks from Ghostknight)

Equipment

Cigarettes, Cheese, Rocket Launcher, Shovel

Notable Techniques

  • Dash: The duo can dash at high speeds, defeating enemies they run into and breaking blocks including Metal Blocks. However, compared to Peppino’s Mach Run, Gustavo and Brick are unable to keep their speed while turning.
  • Double Jump: By pressing the jump button in midair, the duo ball up in midair to perform a second hop. Doing so can also destroy Metal Blocks, among others things beneath the duo.
  • Wall Jump: By touching a wall after double jumping, the duo are able to bounce off of walls and reach higher areas.
  • Brick Kick: By pressing up + grab button, Gustavo kicks Brick forward, rolling the rat into a ball and sending him barrelling into enemies.
  • Spin Attack: By pressing grab button, Gustavo will preform a short range spin that hurts foes.
  • Stomp: Pressing down in midair, Gustavo sticks his feet out to stomp on enemies and quickly descend. While it is a ground pound of sorts, Gustavo is unable to break metal blocks.
  • Crawling and Climbing: Crouching and climbing ladders dismounts Brick.
  • Rail Climbing: Gustavo can climb across Grind Rails. Pressing down and jump drops Gustavo off of the railing.
  • Eating Balloons: Touching a Rat Balloon will cause Brick to swallow the balloon and slowly float downwards. Pressing the jump button will make Brick spit the balloon out, launching the duo upwards.
  • Taunt: Gustavo and Brick briefly pose. This acts the same as with Peppino, parrying projectiles and enemy attacks and are able to super taunt after getting a combo of 3 or more. Some taunts are references. Both characters must be together to taunt.
  • Jump: Jumping onto enemies will defeat them.

Other

Standard Tactics: Gustavo and Brick would typically use each other to attack. They would also use their Super Taunt to attack, and parry those that try to attack them.
