Background

The Dreadhorde is an army of zombies from Magic: the Gathering. They were once warriors from Amonkhet, all of which completed the five trials, killed in honor by Hazoret, and were coated and revived in Lazotep, a mineral that has interesting reactions with necromancy. This way, Nicol Bolas could amass a large army of undead warriors with peak fighter skills, but unburdened by human weaknesses, such as emotion

After Bolas cast the Elderspell, they began to become Planeswalker killing-machines that will harvest their sparks so that Bolas can rise to godhood
