Do not try to escape. Yes, it is useless. Until I have all your energy, I will never let you go.
~ Android 19 to Vegeta

Background

Android 19 is Dr. Gero's nineteenth creation, designed to serve Gero's vendetta against Son Goku, who overthrew the Red Ribbon Army as a child.

He is the secondary antagonist of the Androids Saga.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Android 19’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Android 19 is the final android designed by Dr. Gero to be created exclusively from synthetic technology (although in some alternate timelines this respect goes to Android 16). The android was modeled after a doll decorating the command center of an enemy base, which Dr. Gero brought home as a trophy. When Dr. Gero decided to turn himself into Android 20 in order to become immortal, his brain was transplanted into his android body by Android 19.

Androids Saga
Accompanied by Android 20 (the cyberneticized Dr. Gero), Android 19 appears during an assault on an island nine miles southwest of South City. Since they are mechanical beings, with no ki, the Dragon Team are unable to sense their presence, which culminates in Yamcha's tragic run-in with the pair. Gero grips onto Yamcha's face and lifts him off of the ground. As his energy is sapped through Gero's gripping hand, Gero uses his other hand to impale Yamcha's chest. Detecting that Yamcha's energy is dropping fast, the Z fighters manage to find him along with the two Androids.

After Android 20 destroys half of the city and Goku requests to fight somewhere else, Android 19 challenges Goku who proceeds to transform into Super Saiyan, shifting the fight in his own favor. Shortly after though, the heart virus foretold by Future Trunks begins affecting Goku later than expected, who collapses and is powerless against Android 19's attempt at energy absorption. Suddenly, before Android 19 could sap the last of his energy, he is sent flying aside by a surprise kick to the face. Fuming, 19 rises and looks upon his assailant, revealed to be Vegeta. Believing Vegeta is of roughly the same power level as Goku, the android arrogantly challenges the Saiyan, but, along with everyone else present, is shocked when Vegeta transforms into a Super Saiyan as well.

Android 19 battles Vegeta, but with Vegeta's mercilessness, Android 19 is beaten badly by the Saiyan prince until he finally grabs hold of Vegeta's arms, claiming that he will not release hold of Vegeta until he has sapped dry all of his energy. This prompts Vegeta to prop his feet onto Android 19's face, before slowly tearing off his arms. Now terrified, Android 19 desperately attempts to make an escape, however, Vegeta blasts him with his Big Bang Attack, and Android 19's fate is made clear when from the explosion emerges his smoking head. Shortly after the battle, Future Trunks arrives at where the battle took place, but when he sees Android 19's head, he does not recognize it, realizing that the Android that the Z Fighters destroyed is actually a different Android from the ones that are from his future/time.

Codex Statistics

Grade: B

Tier: At least 7-A, Higher with Energy Absorption. Varies-E with Strongest Charged Blast

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Power Source: Ki (All beings in Dragon Ball[1][2][3] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[4], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[5] block attacks that would otherwise[6] kill them from[7] raising their guard[8], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[9])

Attack Potency: At least Metropolis level (Potency) (Dr. Gero was at first confident that he and 19 could take on Son Goku, which heavily implies without the three year training Goku would've been defeated. aking him far above the likes of Nappa who casually destroyed a city and stood within the blast without having any damage, and Raditz who can cause explosions dwarfing the mountains, which results in these levels of energy. Comparable to his duability), Higher with Energy Absorption (Through absorbing Son Goku's energy, it increased his maximum power rating). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast (Charged Blast have one focus all of their energy into one single point[10], putting the blasts power far beyond what their peak strength is[11], allowing them to destroy things they couldn't prior with their regular attacks[12], this also allows them to use charged attacks that can stop enemies far beyond their level, such as Tien Shinhan pushing back Semi-Perfect Cell with his Neo Ki-Ko-Ho[13], along with stopping an attack shot from Buu absorbed Gotenks[14]. Strongest charged blast can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[15], with blasts capable of[16] seriously damaging/destroying[17] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[18]. Charged Blast also rely heavily on emotional states for example Gohan not believing in himself[19] was having Cell overpower him in a beam clash[20])

Durability: At least Metropolis level (Could take a prolonged all out beating from Son Goku), Higher with Energy Absorption

Striking Strength: At least Metropolis Class (Potency)

Lifting Strength: At least Class 10 (Superior to Ginyu Saga Son Goku who trained and got his body used to moving in 100 times gravity, where he's naturally 62 kg, thus making him 6200 kg or 6.2 tons)

Travel Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Superior to Super Saiyan Son Goku on Namek, who previously in his base form traveled from Frieza's ship over to Vegeta in this timeframe)

Attack Speed: Massively Hypersonic

Reaction Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds)

Stamina: Pseudo-Limitless (19's energy absorbption model allows him to essentially have limitless energy as long as he absorbs his targets energy. Noted that he doesn't feel pain nor fatigue)

Range: Standard Melee, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)

Intelligence: Genius Intelligence (An android created by Dr. Gero which means it's most likely outfitted with various different battle strategies and the ability to analyze their opponents and find out their weaknesses)

Knowledge: Expert level

Powers and Techniques

Equipment

Nothing notable.

Notable Techniques

  • Flight: The ability to fly without the use of ki through the use of wings or special mechanisms.
  • Ki Blast: The most basic form of energy wave.
  • Goku Termination Program: Android 19 was originally programmed by Dr. Gero to kill Goku. The program contains information on Goku such as his address, fighting style, and techniques.
  • Energy Absorption: Also known as Life Drain 19. A technique where Android 19 takes hold of an opponent with his hands and proceeds to drain their energy through his palms. In the Androids Saga, 19 uses this as a last resort against Vegeta, who spends the duration of their battle outclassing him, but is yet again overpowered when Vegeta tears off 19's arms.
  • Photon Shot: A Full Power Energy Wave fired from the palm of 19's hand.
  • Eye Beam: Android 19 uses this move in the anime, as well as in the Raging Blast series.

Other

Standard Tactics: Android 19 will use hand to hand combat along with ki attacks. He will also attempt to absorb one's energy.

Codex Statistics Questions

Q: What about the planetary feats in Dragon Ball?

A: Planetary feats are normally done through their strongest charged blast, where they can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[144], with blasts capable of[145] seriously damaging/destroying[146] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[147], though they themselves are never capable of leaving this unscathed.

Frieza throws a destroy the planet death ball attack but it doesn't destroy the planet. Goku then interestingly notes the reason the planet didn't blow up is because Frieza was too scared of getting caught in the blast[148] . Vegeta's final flash is noted it's going to destroy the planet and Perfect Cell, who is beyond Vegeta, couldn't tank the blast and had to dodge it last second or it would've killed him[149]. Goku's kamehameha was going to destroy the earth and Cell cannot tank this blast, needing to regenerate[150]. Semi-Perfect Cell explosion was consistently noted it was going to destroy the planet and Gohan and it killed Goku[151]. Ultimate Gohan dies to an attack that destroys the earth, his guard was up too since this was when he was fighting Super Buu[152]. Kid Buu shoots a blast trying to destroy the planet, with Vegeta noting he's going to take himself out with it if he lets it off[153]. In Dragon Ball GT, Great Ape Baby Vegeta shoots a super galick gun that he claims will destroy Earth, when Goku is hit by it, he is knocked out to the point that he can't move for a good while, Elder Kai and Shin later state that Baby is going to shoot another blast that will destroy the planet on, greatly injuring Baby if he's caught in the Blast and will kill everyone on the planet if done[154]. Frieza destroyed the entire earth, killing Vegeta in the process[155]. In the Dragon Ball Super Manga, Gohan tells Goku that he doesn't need to hold anything back and can go all out because anything that happens to the Earth can be restored with Dende and the Dragon Balls. Yet, none of Goku's all out attacks destroy the planet but just heavily causes shockwaves around it[156]. Semi-Perfect Cell unleashes a several blast that destroys several islands Android 16 notes that the attacks are just strong enough to not kill Android 18[157].

In the fight of Trunks vs. Mecha Frieza, who is far stronger than his final form, Mecha Frieza immediately goes for his strongest attack, the Supernova. In the original Z anime King Kai even states this is ten times stronger than the power he used on Namek:

  • DBZ Kai Version[158].
  • Original DBZ Anime Version[159]. The attack is directly noted that it could destroy the planet, but doesn't because Trunks catches it, when Mecha Frieza proceeds to detonate it, the explosion is massive but the planet is still intact, implying Frieza must target the core in order to destroy the planet.
