| ~ Cooler to Son Goku |
Background
Cooler is the first son of King Cold and older brother of Frieza, who leads his own small squadron known as Cooler’s Armoured Squadron. Although Cooler has seemingly no affiliation with his brother and father’s armies, Cooler is in the same line of work; he and his force taking over and selling entire planets, and was stated to have taken even more planets than Frieza.
As the years go along, it came to Cooler’s attention that his brother had been overpowered and defeated by a Saiyan native to the Planet Earth, Son Goku. Feeling that Frieza dishonoured his family by losing, Cooler decided to get his revenge on Goku and bring honour back. With this, he and the Armoured Squadron travelled to Earth.
While on Earth, Cooler and the Armoured Squadron raised as much havoc as they could to draw Goku out, including defeating people such as Piccolo, Krillin, and Goku’s own son, Gohan. As a response, Goku appeared and knocked out the Armoured Squadron, before facing Cooler himself.
Cooler put up a good fight, although he was pushed to unveiling his hidden Fifth Form. Unfortunately for Cooler, though, Goku’s Super Saiyan form was more than match for him, and he was seemingly incinerated in the sun. Unbeknownst to Goku, however, pieces of Cooler’s body and mind survived.
A floating computer chip in space had been absorbing all matter and energy around it, until it formed into a giant bio-mechanical spacecraft known as the Big Gete Star. The Big Geta Star came in contact with Cooler’s remains, absorbing them and fully reforming his consciousness from them. Cooler’s consciousness eventually overpowered the Big Gete Star and took control of it.
Now fully in control, Cooler began reforming a body for himself out of biological and mechanical parts, which he named the Meta-Cooler Core, while at the same time creating clones of himself called the Meta-Coolers, which would carry out his demands. Eventually, Cooler sent the Big Geta Star towards the New Planet Namek, where it would land and wrap itself around.
The Big Gete Star would act as a large parasite that sucked energy from the planet, while Meta-Cooler’s creations rounded up the Namekian people to use as slaves. Son Goku and his team, feeling the distress from the Namekians, travel to the planet to stop the problem.
After Goku and Vegeta are taken out by the Meta-Cooler army, they are brought to the Meta-Cooler Core so that he may sap their energy for himself. However, Meta-Cooler Core’s circuits are suddenly overloaded with energy, and he is forced to attack them in his incomplete body.
The Meta-Cooler Core is defeated by Goku and Vegeta, getting a huge ki blast shot into his stomach with the entire Big Gete Star crumbling too. Vegeta then crushes the Big Gete Star’s original microchip, preventing both it and Cooler from ever being able to return again.
General Information
Name: Cooler
Origin: Dragon Ball Z Cooler's Revenge
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Classification: Alien, The Emperor’s Brother, Frieza Race
Species: Frost Demon
Occupation: Cooler’s Armored Squadron Leader, Leader of the Meta-Cooler Corps.
Status: Deceased (Killed after the Big Gete Star was destroyed)
Alignment: Neutral Evil (Unlike his younger brother, Frieza, Cooler is not nearly as immature, and doesn't find as much unending enjoyment out of needless destruction. He destroys things he views as a threat, and will completely avoid combat when he doesn't think his involvement is necessary. He does have an innate evil nature, however, as killing seems to be something he is extremely proficient in)

Power Source: Ki (All beings in Dragon Ball[1][2][3] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[4], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[5] block attacks that would otherwise[6] kill them from[7] raising their guard[8], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[9])
Attack Potency: Metropolis level (Potency) (Could defeat post-three years of training Piccolo; Piccolo was able to overpower Dr. Gero, and was stated to even match a Super Saiyan at the time; both of which should be superior to Nappa who casually destroyed a city and stood within the blast without having any damage, and Raditz who can cause explosions dwarfing the mountains, which results in these levels of energy). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast (Charged Blast have one focus all of their energy into one single point[10], putting the blasts power far beyond what their peak strength is[11], allowing them to destroy things they couldn't prior with their regular attacks[12], this also allows them to use charged attacks that can stop enemies far beyond their level, such as Tien Shinhan pushing back Semi-Perfect Cell with his Neo Ki-Ko-Ho[13], along with stopping an attack shot from Buu absorbed Gotenks[14]. Strongest charged blast can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[15], with blasts capable of[16] seriously damaging/destroying[17] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[18]. Charged Blast also rely heavily on emotional states for example Gohan not believing in himself[19] was having Cell overpower him in a beam clash[20]) | At least Metropolis level (Potency) (Is much stronger than his Fourth Form, though was heavily outclassed by post-three years of training Super Saiyan Goku; Goku was said to have been surpassed by Super Saiyan Vegeta, who himself was weaker than Android 18). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast | Island level (Could contend with, but was ultimately overpowered by, a weakened late-Cell Saga Vegeta; who fought and easily defeated Semi-Perfect Cell, who destroyed several islands with several blast). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast
Durability: Metropolis level, Higher with Guard Up (Ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard) | At least Metropolis level, Higher with Guard Up | Island level
Striking Strength: Metropolis Class (Potency) | At least Metropolis Class (Potency) | Island Class (Potency)
Lifting Strength: Class 25 (Superior to Android Saga Super Saiyan Vegeta, who trained in 300 times gravity, where Vegeta is naturally 56 kg, making him 16,800 kg or 16.8 tons) | Class 25 | Class 25
Travel Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Keeping up with Android Saga Goku should make him superior to Super Saiyan Son Goku on Namek, who previously in his base form traveled from Frieza's ship over to Vegeta in this timeframe) | Massively Hypersonic (Should be faster than his Fourth Form, as he is now much faster than Goku using Kaioken) | Massively Hypersonic (Is comparable to late-Cell Saga Super Saiyan Goku, who is far faster than his base form back in Namek Saga)
Attack Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Can react to foes faster than Goku on Namek, making him far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds) | Massively Hypersonic (Should be faster than before) | Massively Hypersonic
Reaction Speed: Massively Hypersonic | Massively Hypersonic (Should be faster than before) | Massively Hypersonic (Should be faster than before)
Range: Standard Melee, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)
Intelligence: Genius Intelligence (Is shown to be more intelligent, or at least more mature, than his brother Frieza. He could keep up with trained martial artist, Son Goku, and even outmaneuver him in places), Supergenius Intelligence with Big Gete Star (His brain has been assimilated into an ever-growing supercomputer that can turn itself into a spacecraft, created thousands of robots, and take over entire planets)
Powers and Techniques
- Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball[21][22][23] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[24], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[25] block attacks that would otherwise[26] kill them from[27] raising their guard[28], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[29])
- Aura
- Projection: A users ki aura can exert itself[30] as a weapon to attack[31].
- Explosive: Ki users through powering up can form an entire aura around themself, radiating their immense power[32], where depending on their immense strength, can cause them to explode their aura outwards to remove excess ki from themself[33].
- Mood Reflection: Goku and Piccolo Jr. with their auras and their stern concentration on each other reflected in their electric auras, even shooting electricity at each other[34].
- Emotional Empowerment (It's noted that ki users can receive energy through one cheering them on[35]. Ki users can be greatly increased by their emotions and beliefs, Son Goku explains that Son Gohan needs to remember the time he fought Cell and bring out all of the power he has, this way he can lose to no one[36] where it's shown during the Cell beam clash that he was holding back greatly out of fear of destroying the earth but from being cheered on and using all of his power within him, he was able to overpower Cell[37])
- Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent[38]. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan[39], Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb[40], Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice[41], Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta[42], Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza[43], and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them[44])
- Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever[45])
- Penetration Damage
- Weapon Creation (Ki users can create energy weapons out of their attacks[49])
- Power Absorption & Energy Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others[50])
- Attack Nullification
- Power Nullification
- Ki Energy Based: Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[54], which fully destroys a target[55], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[56], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers[57], along with even the likes of Son Goku[58].
- Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves[59]. These forcefields can be expanded[60], and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user[61])
- Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode"[62], in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks[63])
- Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to[64] release all of the energy within them[65] to cause a massive[66] self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust[67] though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left[68])
- Dormant Power Reservoir (Ki users have a dormant power reservoir within them, as shown in arcs like the Buu Saga where Babidi saps this energy in order to use the energy to revive Buu and break his seal[69])
- Internal Destruction (Powerful ki users can overload enemies with their ki, causing them to swell up and explode from the sheer density of ki within them[70])
- Binding
- Dreaming Existence (Characters in Shin Budokai have shown to create physical bodies in alternate timelines through dreaming[73])
- Non-Standard Interaction
- Intangible Interaction: Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[74].
- Space-Time Interaction (3+1-D): Characters can blast space-time distortions to close them[75].
- Healing
- Healing Singular Targets
- Advanced Healing: Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso[76], it can also heal from near death[77].
- Healing Singular Targets
- Resurrection
- Resurrection of the Deceased (Limited): Ki users can resurrect ones heart from death if their ki beams hit their heart, restarting it[78].
- Resurrection from Exhaustion: Can heal downed allies to give them ki back, reviving them[79])
- Intimidation & Spirit Manipulation (Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce[80], along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed[81], exerting fear[82] into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their[83] body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power[84])
- Link Manipulation & Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training[85])
- Vibration Manipulation
- Electricity Manipulation
- Weather Manipulation (Powerful Ki users can generate entire storms through merely powering up alone, Nappa used this in order to conjure the electricity from the storm[90]. Goku showcases this when he first turns super saiyan, causing a massive lightning storm in the background[91])
- Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast[92])
- Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions[94], or control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy[95], or in front of them[96])
- Portal Manipulation
- Non-combat applicable: Characters in GT can link their minds together to open a portal between the living realm and the other world[97].
- Heat Manipulation
- Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light[101][102][103][104][105][106][107][108][109], Degisu seeing ki attacks be fired notes that the characters are "firing light from their hands"[110]).
- Limited Resistance to
- Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides[111])
- Soul Manipulation (Characters with a strong enough will can keep moving after getting their soul reaped, though this requires something akin to a familial or friendship empowerment)
Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Fighter's Intuition (Cooler can outmaneuver Son Goku, a trained martial artist), Genius Intelligence, Acrobatics, Enhanced Senses, Extrasensory Perception, Flight, Transformation (Cooler can transform), Self-Sustenance (Respiratory Self-Sustenance) & Spaceflight (As a part of Frieza’s race, Cooler can survive in, and travel through, space), Paralysis Inducement (Cooler can induce paralysis with Psychokinesis), Telekinesis (As a member of Frieza’s race, he should be able to perform similar telekinesis), Afterimage Creation (Cooler can use afterimages), Fusionism (Cooler can perform the Fusion Dance)
All previous abilities, Duplication (Meta-Cooler Core can produce thousands of Meta-Cooler clones), Absorption (The Big Gete Star could absorb mass and energy. Meta-Cooler Core can also absorb Goku and Vegeta’s energy), Regeneration (High-Mid; The Big Gete Star absorbed Cooler’s brain, fully recreating his body and consciousness), Transformation (Shapeshifting; The Big Gete Star can alter its physical appearance), Adaptation (The Big Gete Star will repair a Meta-Cooler’s body, and change it so that the same injury it sustained cannot happen again)
Notable Techniques
- Flight: With a mastery of Ki control, Cooler is able to fly at incredibly high speeds.
- Ki Blast: Using Ki, Cooler can concentrate it into a ball that he uses as a projectile attack.
- Ki Sense: Cooler is able to detect lifeforms and power levels from far off.
- Death Ball: A large purple ball of ki that both Frieza and Cooler use, which causes massive explosive damage on contact.
- Supernova: Cooler raises his hand above his hand, and a large sun-like ball of ki forms in his hand. Both Frieza and Cooler use this attack, primarily used for destroying large areas of landmass, like entire planets.
- Death Beam: A thin, purple beam of energy that Cooler shoots out of his finger.
- Darkness Eye Beam: Similar to the Death Beam, Cooler generates two purple beams which are shot out of his eyes.
- Destructive Ray: Meta-Cooler Core’s version of the Darkness Eye Beam.
- Nova Chariot: Cooler is surrounded in intense purple energy, and then rushes forwards at full speed. He has used this technique to race through Goku’s Kamehameha.
- Energy Absorption: Meta-Cooler Core can attach his circuits to his opponents and sap their energy from them.
- Destroy Laser: Meta-Cooler Core fires a gigantic purple beam from his face.
Other
Standard Tactics: Cooler will employ hand to hand combat along with ki blast. | Will send army of Meta-Coolers to overwhelm the opponent.
Weaknesses
- Standard Ki Weaknesses: Ki users that do not have sufficient training over their emotions put their power within a mental lock, thus affects to their emotions can seriously limit their powers[113], their emotions can also have them instinctively block using the full power of their attacks out of fear of the destruction along with lack of confidence in themselves[114]. If a Ki user is inflicted with any kind of status, disease, or poison, powering up or transforming will put further strain on the body[115] and can speed up the process of poison[116]. Users of Ki Sensing cannot sense beings that invisible, even if the character is in front of them attacking them, they have a hard time countering them due to being invisible[117]. Users of Ki Sensing also have a harder time sensing the true being using illusions, requiring them to focus in on energy fields to see who is moving and who is casting the illusion[118]. Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, using a large amount of ki overtime can greatly weaken them to the point that characters far lower then them can actually harm them with attacks[119]. Taking large amounts of damage can greatly deplete a ki users attacks, making it where attacks that would otherwise kill massively weakened characters, only pushes them back[120]. Ki users cannot put all of their ki and strength into an attack if parts of their body are broken/injured[121][122], they also lose half of their chi if something like one of their arms are badly injured or broken[123].Ki users that are able to ki sense cannot do it when their guard is dropped, such as when Vegeta was able to sneak attack Son Goku during the end of their fight in the Buu Saga[124]. Despite some ki users being able to reach blasts that can destroy planets through charged attacks or techniques[125][126][127][128], they have not shown to be able to tank such blasts themselves[129][130][131], with attacks that have[132] destroyed several[133] planets in the series[134] always killing the character. Even characters such as Majin Buu's body cannot withstand the energy of a planet exploding[135]. Using ki volley attacks come with the caveat of their aim being rather poor, making it harder to hit moving targets. If ki users are at all possessed, even by accident, their true self will be sleeping within, with the possessor needing to awaken them[136]. Even if awoken, they are immobilized and unable to move without the possessor giving them the ability to[137], even with them wanting to wake up, they cannot do it[138]. Specific waves can can suppress a ki users power, and put their consciousness to sleep[139]. If Ki users stamina is broken, they will unable to be able to continue fighting for a short while, this will also cancel out any ki attack they were attempting to use, including ultimate's[140], this also adds on that ki users guards are down while charging ultimate attacks. Their stamina can also be broken if a character moves far too fast and surprise attacks them while they're charging their ki[141]. Ki Users can also be grabbed out of charging their attacks[142]. When ki users radiate their Ki at its highest, their body is also freed the most, making them open to attacks and making them easy to possess[143].
- Unique Weaknesses: Much like his little brother, Cooler is extremely arrogant and overconfident in himself, believing that it was Frieza’s lack of power that had him lose to a Saiyan; not even considering that the Saiyan could have been powerful. This attitude is what leads to his supposed death. Even when assimilated into the Big Gete Star, Cooler remains this same weakness, along with him now having circuits that are susceptible to energy overload.
Explanations
Codex Statistics Questions
Q: What about the planetary feats in Dragon Ball?
A: Planetary feats are normally done through their strongest charged blast, where they can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[144], with blasts capable of[145] seriously damaging/destroying[146] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[147], though they themselves are never capable of leaving this unscathed.
Frieza throws a destroy the planet death ball attack but it doesn't destroy the planet. Goku then interestingly notes the reason the planet didn't blow up is because Frieza was too scared of getting caught in the blast[148] . Vegeta's final flash is noted it's going to destroy the planet and Perfect Cell, who is beyond Vegeta, couldn't tank the blast and had to dodge it last second or it would've killed him[149]. Goku's kamehameha was going to destroy the earth and Cell cannot tank this blast, needing to regenerate[150]. Semi-Perfect Cell explosion was consistently noted it was going to destroy the planet and Gohan and it killed Goku[151]. Ultimate Gohan dies to an attack that destroys the earth, his guard was up too since this was when he was fighting Super Buu[152]. Kid Buu shoots a blast trying to destroy the planet, with Vegeta noting he's going to take himself out with it if he lets it off[153]. In Dragon Ball GT, Great Ape Baby Vegeta shoots a super galick gun that he claims will destroy Earth, when Goku is hit by it, he is knocked out to the point that he can't move for a good while, Elder Kai and Shin later state that Baby is going to shoot another blast that will destroy the planet on, greatly injuring Baby if he's caught in the Blast and will kill everyone on the planet if done[154]. Frieza destroyed the entire earth, killing Vegeta in the process[155]. In the Dragon Ball Super Manga, Gohan tells Goku that he doesn't need to hold anything back and can go all out because anything that happens to the Earth can be restored with Dende and the Dragon Balls. Yet, none of Goku's all out attacks destroy the planet but just heavily causes shockwaves around it[156]. Semi-Perfect Cell unleashes a several blast that destroys several islands Android 16 notes that the attacks are just strong enough to not kill Android 18[157].
In the fight of Trunks vs. Mecha Frieza, who is far stronger than his final form, Mecha Frieza immediately goes for his strongest attack, the Supernova. In the original Z anime King Kai even states this is ten times stronger than the power he used on Namek:
- DBZ Kai Version[158].
- Original DBZ Anime Version[159]. The attack is directly noted that it could destroy the planet, but doesn't because Trunks catches it, when Mecha Frieza proceeds to detonate it, the explosion is massive but the planet is still intact, implying Frieza must target the core in order to destroy the planet.
