~ Future Gohan to Android 17 & 18

Background

Son Gohan, often called Future Gohan, is an alternate version of the main Son Gohan, hailing from a timeline in which the planet was ravaged by Android 17 and 18. Unlike the main timeline, which had been drastically altered by Future Trunks, this world was left untouched and unprotected, putting the Z Fighters on their last legs.

After Son Goku succumbed to his heart virus and passed away, Earth had lost its greatest protector. The twin siblings, Android 17 and 18, continued to wreak havoc upon the world simply out of a desire to destroy. Although the Z Fighters fought against them, they were no match and fell in battle. The only two fighters who remained were Son Gohan, and his pupil Trunks.

Son Gohan and Trunks would intercept countless Android attacks as they came along, although they constantly saw that they were outmatched. In one specific attack, Gohan was hit by a powerful explosion, and lost his left arm as a result. Knowing that he wouldn’t survive much longer, Gohan pushed Trunks as hard as he could to become a Super Saiyan.

Although seemingly unsuccessful, Gohan knew that Trunks was extremely close to finally reaching the form. Confident in placing the hope of the world on his pupil, Gohan set out alone for one final stand against the Androids. After putting up an incredible fight, Gohan was killed in a blaze of glory.

However, just as he had hoped, his death would be the push that finally saw Trunks become a Super Saiyan. His legacy would live on within Trunks, who would later kill the Androids in his name. At last, the future timeline was safe.

Codex Statistics

Grade: B

Tier: At least 7-A, Higher in Super Saiyan. Varies-E with Strongest Charged Blast

Grade: A (The last surviving and strongest Z Fighter, being the only thing holding off Android 17 and Android 18)

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Power Source: Ki (All beings in Dragon Ball[3][4][5] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[6], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[7] block attacks that would otherwise[8] kill them from[9] raising their guard[10], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[11])

Attack Potency: At least Metropolis level (Potency) (Is superior to Son Goku on Namek, sparred with Super Saiyan Future Trunks, making him far above the likes of Nappa who casually destroyed a city and stood within the blast without having any damage, and Raditz who can cause explosions dwarfing the mountains, which results in these levels of energy), Higher in Super Saiyan (Could somewhat harm Future Android 17, though he noted he wasn't even using half of his power). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast (Charged Blast have one focus all of their energy into one single point[12], putting the blasts power far beyond what their peak strength is[13], allowing them to destroy things they couldn't prior with their regular attacks[14], this also allows them to use charged attacks that can stop enemies far beyond their level, such as Tien Shinhan pushing back Semi-Perfect Cell with his Neo Ki-Ko-Ho[15], along with stopping an attack shot from Buu absorbed Gotenks[16]. Strongest charged blast can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[17], with blasts capable of[18] seriously damaging/destroying[19] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[20]. Charged Blast also rely heavily on emotional states for example Gohan not believing in himself[21] was having Cell overpower him in a beam clash[22])

Durability: At least Metropolis level, Higher in Super Saiyan, Higher with Guard Up (Ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard), Lower with Ki Control (Higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them)

Striking Strength: At least Metropolis Class (Potency), Higher in Super Saiyan

Lifting Strength: At least Class 25 (Comparable to Vegeta, who trained in 300 times gravity, where Vegeta is naturally 56 kg, making him 16,800 kg or 16.8 tons), Higher as Super Saiyan

Travel Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Superior to Super Saiyan Son Goku on Namek, who previously in his base form traveled from Frieza's ship over to Vegeta in this timeframe), Higher in Super Saiyan

Attack Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Can react to foes far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds), Higher in Super Saiyan

Reaction Speed: Massively Hypersonic, Higher in Super Saiyan

Stamina: Superhuman (Should be similar to his father, two travelled over Snake Way for countless days straight. Should also be comparable to his main timeline self, who as a kid was able to survive training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for nearly a year, which is said to be incredibly physically taxing and difficult to stay in for even a short amount of time)

Range: Standard Melee, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)

Intelligence: Genius Intelligence (Is less intelligent than his main timeline counterpart, due to simply being alive for less time, and having not gone through schooling. However, he is still an extremely intelligent warrior, able to keep up with the Son Goku of his time, who has several years of fighting experience)

Powers and Techniques

Notable Techniques

  • Flight: With a mastery of Ki control, Gohan is able to fly at incredibly high speeds.
  • Ki Blast: Using Ki, Gohan can concentrate it into a ball that he uses as a projectile attack.
  • Ki Sense: Gohan is able to detect lifeforms and power levels from far off.
  • Kamehameha: The iconic move coined by Master Roshi, which Gohan has adopted for himself. This starts as a blue Ki ball, which is charged in Gohan’s hands before releasing as an incredibly powerful beam.
    • Super Kamehameha: This is an amplified version of the Kamehameha which has a larger and more devastating beam, which Gohan uses by first bolstering his Ki.
  • Special Beam Cannon: The signature move of Piccolo, which was passed down to Gohan. This move has the user charge energy within their two fingers for quite some time, before firing an extremely thin, concentrated, and absurdly powerful beam out.
  • Masenko: A beam attack similar to the Kamehameha, having Gohan raise his hand before unleashing it. Unlike the Kamehameha, the beam of the Masenko is yellow.
    • Hyper Masenko: This is an amplified version of the Masenko which has a larger and more devastating beam, which Gohan uses by first bolstering his Ki.
  • Down Burst: The user fires an energy sphere to the ground in order to get away from his opponents.
  • Sonic Rush: Future Gohan starts the attack by kicking his opponent away. He then teleports behind them and does a right-hand chop, followed by a right hook then a right sweep kick. Future Gohan finishes the rush attack by kicking his opponent high in the air then knocking them back down with a right elbow, inflicting a great amount of damage.

  • Super Saiyan: The ability to transform into a more powerful being, Future Gohan takes this form every time he fights the androids. It is not exactly clear at what age and how he became a Super Saiyan in the alternate timeline, but it is implied that he became able to use Super Saiyan after seeing his friends killed by the androids, as suggested by his fierce hatred towards them. He also attempted to teach the ability to Future Trunks and succeeded in the manga.

Other

Standard Tactics: Unlike his main timeline self, this Gohan does not resort to passive strats due to existing in a future of ruin and instead goes straight for transforming, along with using his energy attacks with hand to hand combat.

Weaknesses

Note

  • Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities from ki use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[148].
  • The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.

Codex Statistics Questions

Q: What about the planetary feats in Dragon Ball?

A: Planetary feats are normally done through their strongest charged blast, where they can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[149], with blasts capable of[150] seriously damaging/destroying[151] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[152], though they themselves are never capable of leaving this unscathed.

Frieza throws a destroy the planet death ball attack but it doesn't destroy the planet. Goku then interestingly notes the reason the planet didn't blow up is because Frieza was too scared of getting caught in the blast[153] . Vegeta's final flash is noted it's going to destroy the planet and Perfect Cell, who is beyond Vegeta, couldn't tank the blast and had to dodge it last second or it would've killed him[154]. Goku's kamehameha was going to destroy the earth and Cell cannot tank this blast, needing to regenerate[155]. Semi-Perfect Cell explosion was consistently noted it was going to destroy the planet and Gohan and it killed Goku[156]. Ultimate Gohan dies to an attack that destroys the earth, his guard was up too since this was when he was fighting Super Buu[157]. Kid Buu shoots a blast trying to destroy the planet, with Vegeta noting he's going to take himself out with it if he lets it off[158]. In Dragon Ball GT, Great Ape Baby Vegeta shoots a super galick gun that he claims will destroy Earth, when Goku is hit by it, he is knocked out to the point that he can't move for a good while, Elder Kai and Shin later state that Baby is going to shoot another blast that will destroy the planet on, greatly injuring Baby if he's caught in the Blast and will kill everyone on the planet if done[159]. Frieza destroyed the entire earth, killing Vegeta in the process[160]. In the Dragon Ball Super Manga, Gohan tells Goku that he doesn't need to hold anything back and can go all out because anything that happens to the Earth can be restored with Dende and the Dragon Balls. Yet, none of Goku's all out attacks destroy the planet but just heavily causes shockwaves around it[161]. Semi-Perfect Cell unleashes a several blast that destroys several islands Android 16 notes that the attacks are just strong enough to not kill Android 18[162].

In the fight of Trunks vs. Mecha Frieza, who is far stronger than his final form, Mecha Frieza immediately goes for his strongest attack, the Supernova. In the original Z anime King Kai even states this is ten times stronger than the power he used on Namek:

  • DBZ Kai Version[163].
  • Original DBZ Anime Version[164]. The attack is directly noted that it could destroy the planet, but doesn't because Trunks catches it, when Mecha Frieza proceeds to detonate it, the explosion is massive but the planet is still intact, implying Frieza must target the core in order to destroy the planet.
