Parin serves as the main protagonist and default name of the player character in Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure.
| This dropdown contains the synopsis of Parinโs story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise! |
|---|
|
She is a lively twelve-year-old who relocates to Tiese Town to live with her grandfather while her parents are away on an archaeological dig. After getting acquainted with the townspeople, Parin catches Puchi in the act of threatening someone who appears to be a little girl. She drives him away using her flashy missile kick. She soon realizes that the girl is actually an Obake, a legendary creature that only children and animals can perceive. |
In languages of Persian context "Parin" has the meaning of "fairy" or angel". In Sanskrit/Indian traditions it's referring to an auspicious outcome or a form of Lord Ganesha.
The name is also noted to signify beauty and charm, which Parin does comment on being adorable[1].
General Description: Parin is a 12-year old girl that wears a frilly skirt, red shoes, and a zip-up dress-like uniform. Her hair is also tied up in a twintail fashion.
Facial Features: She has big brown eyes that are the most expressive part of her face with a small nose and regular sized mouth.
Clothing/Outfit:
Hyperbolic is Parin's grandfather that she moves in with while her parents are excavating. He thinks they give it to her rough having her move across the country by herself. He also worries about her with her parents always being gone.
Parin is somewhat annoyed by her grandfather due to his forgetfulness.
Parin's parents are moreso talked about then seen. Parin notes that they are adventurers as an excuse for them always leaving her alone and moving constantly.
Moving constantly even made it hard for Parin to make friends[2].
Parin's grandfather notes that there's no children in the town due to it being a town for miners. However, he suggests to Parin to go meet Fan.
They hit is off pretty easily with Fan easily accepting to being friends[1].
Fan sells consumable items to Parin.
Parin first meets Disk at his discount shop[3].
He gives Parin a pair of goggles as a welcoming gift[3].
He sells her different equippable items.
Parin first meets Cylinder in town where he acts as a total creep to her.
Asides from that he is able to increase what her drill can do with parts[1].
Popon is the niece of Pamela and one Parin meets in town after visting the monster village for the first time and rescuing Puku[1].
She only shows up when one finished Gurumin once thus she is not seen until effectively a new game plus playthrough.
If one fulfills the unlock requirements she helps out Parin on her quest.
Parin saves Pino while she's being antagonized by the dog in town.
Pino is the first true friend Parin made while in the Village, and welcomed her alongside Puku to the Monster Village.
Puku is Pino's brother and friends with Parin. Parin goes to save him when he gets kidnapped by the Phantoms.
She also looks for him after the village gets attacked.
Poco is one of Parin's monster friends. Poco is confused at how Parin is not afraid of monsters but Parin notes there's nothing terrifying about them.
When Parin needs to go save Puku, he claims he will dance as a way to support her.

| โ | This world is a reflection of what's in our hearts. With out village destroyed and our friends gone, the world is unstable. The Dark Mist comes from our sadness and worry. | โ |
| ~ Puku explaining the Dark Mist |
During the early part of Gurumin, much of the world is covered in Dark Mist[1].
The world is a reflection of what's in people's hearts[1], through the village being destroyed and all of the monster friends gone, the world is now unstable[1].
The sadness and worry from this instability is what the Dark Mist comes from[1].
Through getting the monsters friends back and rebuilding the village, the world can be stabilized and in peace once more[1].
One cannot go into areas covered by Dark Mist[1]. Once all of the dark mist was gone the rip in space-time was slowly healing due to the world being at peace again, closing the entrance between the monster and human world[1].
| โ | It's like such a good thing Great Fang connected our worlds... | โ |
| ~ Cream |
The world contains an enormous crevasse known as "Great Fang"[1]. It is a place connecting to other worlds[1]. It may even be connected to Parin's human world[1].
Motro describes it as a giant cleft that cuts through many worlds[1], and that Tokaron uses the Great Fang to travel between worlds[1].
| โ | A human? Another dimensional hole must opened somewhere. | โ |
| ~ Doc |
A monster seeing Parin assumes a dimensional hole must've opened[1], describing it as a rip in the fabric of space-time, a window into other worlds[1] which Parin notes is probably the hole in town she always goes through[1].
