She is a lively twelve-year-old who relocates to Tiese Town to live with her grandfather while her parents are away on an archaeological dig.

After getting acquainted with the townspeople, Parin catches Puchi in the act of threatening someone who appears to be a little girl. She drives him away using her flashy missile kick. She soon realizes that the girl is actually an Obake, a legendary creature that only children and animals can perceive.

Parin saves Pino while she's being antagonized by the dog in town.

Pino is the first true friend Parin made while in the Village, and welcomed her alongside Puku to the Monster Village.

Puku

Puku is Pino's brother and friends with Parin. Parin goes to save him when he gets kidnapped by the Phantoms.

She also looks for him after the village gets attacked.

Powers and Techniques

Equipment

The Legendary Drill

  • Description: The drill is the primary weapon used by the Parin. It is an old model drill that was modified decades ago to accept different parts to make it more powerful.
  • Usage: Used as a weapon to attack objects and enemies. Able to dispel curses and seal dangerous entities. Can hold elemental properties.
  • Function: The most rudimentary attack is to swing the drill at objects or enemies. Another feature of the drill is the charged attack. It can be equipped with different elemental parts as well as different machine parts that allow the use of special moves. When the level three drill is at maximum power level, a beam will shoot from the tip of the drill.
    • Drill Levels: The drill has five different levels:
      • Level Zero: This is the cursed drill. Its level cannot be increased.
      • Level One: Drill energy between zero and one.
      • Level Two: Drill energy between one and two.
      • Level Three: Drill energy between two and three.
      • Level Four: This level is attained by giving Motoro the eleven Platinum medals; drill energy between three and four.
    • Elemental Parts: There are three elemental parts that can be added to the drill. These increase the amount of damage to enemies versus the non-elemental state. Also, some enemies have a weak point to particular element states. They are usually used with elemental parts to increase the range, force and versatility of the drill attacks. Some require that the drill power is at a certain level.
      • Fire Parts: "Adds a fire effect to your drill." Found in Radish Woods - Fountain Clearing. Parin attacks can emit heat, being able to instantly melt frozen eneimes, light torches, or melt frozen water.
    • Shock Parts: "Adds a lightning effect to your drill." Found in Asparagus Lake. Parin attacks can emit electricity, being able to electircally charge areas, eletrocute enemies, or cause mass electricity in water.
    • Ice Parts: "Adds an ice effect to your drill." Found in Pimento Park. Special moves are unlocked by buying drill parts from Cylinder. Parin attacks can emit ice, being able to freeze enemies, obstacles, and a river in an instant.

Other

Standard Tactics: Parin will utilize her drill for a variety of different attacks along with different equipment to deal with obstacles.

Weaknesses: Parin's Drill Level drops when she takes damage[1]. Parin's knowledge is mainly with drills, she's not able to use other weapons[1].

Explanations

Dark Mist

โ€œ This world is a reflection of what's in our hearts. With out village destroyed and our friends gone, the world is unstable. The Dark Mist comes from our sadness and worry. โ€ž
~ Puku explaining the Dark Mist

During the early part of Gurumin, much of the world is covered in Dark Mist[1].

The world is a reflection of what's in people's hearts[1], through the village being destroyed and all of the monster friends gone, the world is now unstable[1].

The sadness and worry from this instability is what the Dark Mist comes from[1].

Through getting the monsters friends back and rebuilding the village, the world can be stabilized and in peace once more[1].

One cannot go into areas covered by Dark Mist[1]. Once all of the dark mist was gone the rip in space-time was slowly healing due to the world being at peace again, closing the entrance between the monster and human world[1].

Great Fang

โ€œ It's like such a good thing Great Fang connected our worlds... โ€ž
~ Cream

The world contains an enormous crevasse known as "Great Fang"[1]. It is a place connecting to other worlds[1]. It may even be connected to Parin's human world[1].

Motro describes it as a giant cleft that cuts through many worlds[1], and that Tokaron uses the Great Fang to travel between worlds[1].

Human World and Monster World

โ€œ A human? Another dimensional hole must opened somewhere. โ€ž
~ Doc

A monster seeing Parin assumes a dimensional hole must've opened[1], describing it as a rip in the fabric of space-time, a window into other worlds[1] which Parin notes is probably the hole in town she always goes through[1].

Right, with just this drill, I can fight. I will definitely save everyone.

A girl fighting with a legendary drill

Parin

The protagonist of this work. A 12-year-old girl who came to the village of Tis where her grandfather lives because her parents went away for archaeological excavations. Farin, who had no friends due to frequent moves, came full of dreams of finally making friends, but upon hearing that the village was full of adults... It is disappointing. She is cute and speaks well, but she also has an innocent side befitting her age.
