Background

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Klaus’ story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Klaus is a young police officer that suffers from a mental illness that continues to surface.

He was dealing with several Police reports while on the job before the start of the outbreak.

Throughout the game he deals with his mental illness, causing him to kill people he sees as infected and lock up people in a casino because of the voices in his head.

There are two routes that can taken at the end:

  • The canon route, where Klaus finally shoots himself to stop being a danger to all people.
  • The non-canon route, Klaus doesn't shoot himself and instead runs away, fighting against what he believes to be his inner voice when it's in reality his police boss that he's killed as he goes on the run.

The more Klaus kills the more into it her gets[1]. He suffers from hallucinations as he saw Miranda as a zombie Jigglypuff and shot her[1], along with seeing Magnus as his inner voice believing killing him would stop it[1].

Explanations

The Infection

The infection is a disease that spread across Johto due to the incompetence of Team Rocket.

The infection was caused by an artifact which Team Rocket stole[3]. Team Rocket read the text saying "The power to make everyone weak-willed and dangerous" and interpreted this as they would be able to mind control people[3].

Team Rocket raided the Goldenrod City Radio Tower to link up the artifact to the radio tower and spread its waves across all of Johto[3].

These effects started reviving recently deceased humans and Pokemon[3].

It's noted by Professor Elm that every single person and Pokemon in the country is infected regardless of whether they were bitten or not, so if they die they will turn into a zombie[3].
