Articles About Ramona Flowers
Scott Pilgrim Graphic Novel - Movie - Video Game - Anime

Background

Ramona Flowers is the secondary protagonist of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. In the movie, she continues the tradition of being mysterious and well-guarded, as well as carrying around a laminated list of her evil exes, which she gives to Scott after he battles with Roxie.

She had her mind-controlled and held hostage by Gideon Graves' microchip on the back of her head, forcing her to break up with Scott.

In the Subspace during Scott's defeat, she confessed that she was crazy for Gideon, but was constantly pushed away. Only when she left him, prior to her arrival in Toronto, did Gideon finally become interested, which led to the formation of the League.

After gaining control of her body thanks to her and Knives' resolve with Scott (and also a kick to the back of the head by Knives), she played a small but vital role in the final battle against Gideon (kneeing him in the groin, which allows Knives to take his sword away), buying enough time for Knives and Scott to finish him off. Ramona then proceeds to leave Scott to begin her life anew, but Knives convinces Scott to follow her. Scott joins Ramona as the two of them enter a gateway to Subspace.

In an alternate ending, she convinces Scott that Knives is the one he should have been fighting for all along, and leaves him and Knives alone outside of the Chaos Theatre. The two then walk off, talking and laughing.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Weapon Mastery (Can use a hammer in combat), Dimensional Storage & Battlefield Removal (Application Based; With her subspace suitcase), Dimensional Travel (Can use subspace to travel to different areas), Mind Manipulation (Can enter one's mind in subspace), Subjective Reality & Dimensional Storage (Whatever the user can imagine will be created in subspace. For instance, Scott manifested his love for Ramona as the Power of Love, which he can pull from and store in Subspace), Portal Creation & Summoning (As the powers of the characters originate from Subspace, they can create portals or summon beings and objects from their subspace)
Avatar Creation (When in subspace, people project a dream avatar which they recreate endlessly even after death), Acausality (Irregular Causality, Established; Subspace is a different space-time where all rules are different (including death), thus it should by extension be a different system of causality), Perspective Manipulation & Observation (Unconscious Manifestation; Perception is Law. People, items, and Mind Subspace itself are based on the nature of the person's mind, therefore, however, a person imagines Subspace is how it will appear. A good example is Scott's Dream Desert: this location is repeatedly used as a metaphor for Scott's loneliness but also is his projected image of Subspace at that time which Ramona can pass through), Law Manipulation (One’s subspace operates under their rules and systems which can extend even to the real world with characters like Gideon affecting Ramona’s Subspace), Mind Manipulation & Reality Warping (While Mind Subspace allows for others' own projected images of themselves to take on other forms, the individual whom the Subspace resides in retains all power and control within said mind. Through this, the character can shape themselves and Subspace to their liking all through their thoughts, perspectives, and desires), Dimensional Travel (Can enter his avatars after death, and can potentially manifest Subspace doors both consciously and unconsciously)

Equipment

  • Subspace Suitcase: A purse-like case linked to the Subspace. It can carry a virtually infinite amount of items and other things.
    • Hammer: A large, heavy hammer she can pull from the Subspace Suitcase. Does extra damage to girls.

Notable Techniques

  • Subspace Transportation: Ramona can transport herself into the "Subspace". The Subspace is a realm that sits below and inside our own with a wide variety of uses. There are two main types of the Subspace:
    • Transport Subspace: A realm closely linked to the real world, usually taking a random and fantasy-like appearance. Can be used to travel quickly due to distance in the Subspace being different to distance in the real world. Can also be used to store a virtually infinite amount of objects. Due to it's nature it can be useful for hiding, fleeing, preparing or aiding in a battle.
    • Mind Subspace: Separate realms located in every person's mind, essentially their subconscious and where their dreams take place. It's appearance and nature relates to that person's personality and emotional state; a person in real life can influence their respective Subspace and vice-versa. Can be used to transport oneself next to that person or harm them/help them without being physically with them.

Other

Standard Tactics: Ramona fights little in the film, though when she does her style of fighting is using a weapon from her subspace suitcase(notably her hammer) and using it in combat.

Weaknesses: None notable
