Different Ayas | Aya Drevis - Miss Library |
Background
Aya Drevis is the main protagonist and playable character of the game Mad Father. She is the only daughter of Alfred Drevis and Monika Drevis who lives with in a large mansion that makes up the setting for the majority of the game.
This dropdown contains the synopsis of Aya Drevis’ story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise! |
---|
Aya was born in Northern Germany and spent almost eleven years within the confines of her family's mansion. Despite this, and the peculiarities of her family (namely her father's penchant for live experimentation on both humans and animals), she had a good childhood that she reflects on fondly. After her mother died, though, her life took a slight turn for the worse, as she wasn't fond of Maria, the woman who she thought was going to replace her mother. Things would become even worse on the anniversary of Monika Drevis' (Aya's mother) death. At midnight, Aya was awoken by the sound of Alfred Drevis (Aya's father) screaming, only to find that corpses, ghosts, and dolls had all come to life, and were roaming around her home. Despite the dangers, the little girl would set forth to save her father. She wasn't without help, as some of the corpses were more than willing to aid her. In the process, she would learn of her father's darkest secrets. In the true ending, a woman comes up to a clinic deep in the woods where she knocks on the door and Aya opens it. The woman explains that her doctor has given up on her due to her lack of funds and that she has heard that Aya works with patients for free. Aya asks for her name and the woman tells her that she is Jean Rooney. Aya invites her in and tells her to lay down on the table. Aya makes a remark about Jean's eyes being "beautiful", commenting on how she can't stop looking at it and asks her if she is nervous. She then tells the woman that she will not suffer from now on. Maria, in the room next to the one Aya and Jean are in, then remarks that Aya is much like her father, implying that Aya may have either continued her father's hobby (suggested by the dolls in the room), or only murders her patients to relieve them of their pain, though the remastered version of the game heavily contradicts this. In the remastered version of the game, Aya is seen to hug one of her dolls from her collection and said to herself that she promised Robin that she wouldn't forget the people who were sacrificed in the hands of Alfred Drevis (Aya's father) after the credits and before the extra cutscene (if the player collected all the gems), hinting that the dolls in her clinic were merely dolls but not made from human parts. This also hints that she only followed her father in taking up biology but not turning her patients into dolls. |

Codex Statistics
Grade: B
Tier: At least Low 10-B, 9-C with mini-chainsaw

Striking Strength: At least Below Average Human Class
Lifting Strength: Below Average Human Class
Travel Speed: Athletic Human (Can outrun Alfred Drevis)

Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius Intelligence (Became a doctor, Maria notes that Aya is not that much different from her father, implying she shares similar intelligence to Alfred Drevis)
'Knowledge: At least Average level as a child (While still a little girl has shown to be able to solve various puzzles within the mansion by herself and seems to have better knowledge then the average child), Expert level as an adult (Became a doctor, Maria notes that Aya is not that much different from her father, in this case it isn't referring to his cruelty as there are various things that contradict that, so it is likely referring to his skill and expertise in medicine)
Powers and Techniques
Genius Intelligence (Maria notes that Aya isn't much different from her father, the same father capable of developing clones, and creating living plants), Weapon Usage (Can use and has practiced using a chainsaw), Fire Manipulation (Via lighter), Small Size (Small Animal Sized; Via Snowball), Sound Manipulation & Durability Negation (Via the Mandragora, causes an extremely loud sound that kills the target without any physical damage), Poison Manipulation & Sleep Manipulation (Via the Mandragora, has a toxic composition, that has been used for sleeping medicine and sedatives), possibly Death Manipulation (Type 1; Stated in folklore that it's scream brings death to those who hear it), Sealing & Power Nullification (Via the Magic Water, can seal the power of the curse), Erasure & Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation [Metaphysics Manipulation]; Metaphysical Erasure [Erasure]; Via the Magic Water, caused Monika Drevis to fade).
Resistance to Sound Manipulation (Via earplugs, is unable to be affected by the Mandragora's hellish scream)
Equipment
Mini Chainsaw, Scalpel, Mandragora, Knife, Lighter, Magic Water
Other
Standard Tactics: Aya will normally attack with mini-chainsaw or Mandragora on an enemy too tough, but if both fail then she will use the magic water.
Weaknesses: The Mandragora doesn't work on those who can't hear or have something to protect their ears. Natural human weaknesses, and is a little girl.
Note: It is heavily argued within the fandom whether or not Aya became a killer or not, with good points being brought up on both sides. With the Aya being a killer side arguing the scene where she treats Jean Rooney is her killing her to end her suffering and Maria noting that "it does run in the family" while looking at dolls, implying Aya has turned them into dolls, with a doll asking in Mad Father IF mode what if Aya turned out to be just like her father. However, as of Mad Father Remake, there is currently more stance against Aya being a killer. It is shown in the Remake's true ending that Aya herself directly says she kept her promise to Robin, which was to never forget the victims done from the horrible crimes of her father, if she was enacting his killing her statement of keeping her promise would be contradictory. Another thing to note is that even though Maria does say this, Maria views Aya's father as a savior and this is most likely referring to Aya's kindness when she says it runs in the family. Along with this, in Mad Father IF mode, even though the doll does ask that, Robin rebukes it with if Aya did do this, he would go to stop her, though as shown in Mad Father Blood Mode not only does she note she never met Robin again but shows great joy in seeing him again, which if she was a killer she'd likely show at least some restraint when meeting Robin again as her actions he would not approve of. The entirety of Blood Mode too shows her as far nicer then she was during the events of regular Mad Father to all of the cursed beings without ever doing anything to kill any of them, changing some of the encounters such as her "little sister" from dying to surviving in this version. Another argument used from blood mode is that Aya notes that the gods are watching over her and are punishing her, though there is further context to this in a previous scene where Aya notes she carries the Drevis family curse due to all of the past sins her family did and thus Aya views herself as apart of said curse due to this. Ogre also notes that he is very intrigued and likes lunatics, which is the entire reason he brought Alfred Drevis back to life and into an alternate world, but isn't this interested with Aya, he doesn't even attempt to call her out on becoming like her father nor makes any mention to it. One final major argument used for the Aya is a killer side is that Jean Rooney, the patient Aya helps at the end of Mad Father appears in Blood Mode and notes that Aya killed her, however there is an issue with this argument. It is never said during the entire scene that she killed her, just that she wants to keep living and become a doctor too, some minor nitpicks to this argument too are that it is never directly confirmed this is Jean Rooney, and that her design is slightly different, having two hair brands instead of one. It makes less sense for this to be Jean Rooney too as Blood Mode takes place in a space born of someone's strong emotions, which turns out to be Alfred Drevis' strong emotions, meaning this is either a patient very similar looking to Jean or that Jean somehow has some connection to Alfred rather then Aya as all the events in Blood Mode are a recreation of the events in Mad Father. With all of this in mind while there's incredibly strong evidence for Aya being a killer, this evidence is likely made by Sen to keep up the mystery of whether or not she's a killer, with currently the confirmation of Aya keeping her promise to Robin and Robin never once coming to stop Aya being two far too strong points that break down the entire killer side.
