Kurourushi was smart enough to understand the rules of the game and when it was at a disadvantage with other strong players, an example being Dhruv Lakdawalla would've been an unfavorable matchup for Kurourushi, so it decided to enter a dormant state. Using its's uncanny insect abilities in conjunction with wielding a cursed tool weapon, Kurourushi was even able to momentarily overpower Yuta, a prodigal sorcerer second only to Gojo)

Cursed Spirits are manifestations born out of people's mind, thoughts and negative emotions), Regeneration (High-Low. Cursed Spirits are capable of regenerating lost limbs; High-Mid over time. Cursed Spirits have been shown to regenerate over time from their severed head), Weapon Usage (Kurourushi wields the Festering Life Sword), Flight, Invisibility (Cursed Spirits are generally invisible to the human eye), Energy Manipulation, Statistics Amplification (Sorcerers and Curses can increase their physical power by reinforcing with cursed energy), Animal Manipulation (Kurourushi is able to produce and control cockroaches reinforced with cursed energy. The Festering Life Sword shoots cursed insect eggs out of its eyes at its opponent where they begin to hatch onto them and eat them from the inside), Summoning and Status Effect Inducement (Earthen Insect Trance allows Kurourushi to summon cursed insects that carry sacs of liquid that blind targets when pierced)

Cursed Energy (Juryoku?): A power source aligned with negative emotions used by sorcerers and curses to fuel their jujutsu.

• Cockroach Manipulation: Kurourushi's technique appears to be directly tied with its physiology as a cockroach curse. It can produce and control flying swarms of countless man-eating cockroaches capable of stripping all of a human being's flesh from the bones in seconds. Kurourushi's endless appetite stimulates parthenogenesis, meaning the more cockroaches devour, the more of them can be produced. Each manifested cockroach is real and reinforced with cursed energy. A single one is no issue but a full swarm is a serious threat even to a powerful jujutsu sorcerer.
• Earthen Insect Trance (Dochū Zenjō^?): An extension technique that conjures cursed insects that carry sacs filled with liquid that blind their target when pierced.
