Background

Yggdrasil is the central core computer that hosts the devious and mysterious ZAIN Project. When an unknown scientist discovered a way to control the mind of others, the science behind it was taken by a group called the Enterprise, to be used for nefarious purposes.

After 30 long years of testing and research, the ZAIN Project was developed in order to construct an army of mind-controlled warriors. The main central computer, which had full control over the project and each individual ZAIN Terminal, was given the name Yggdrasil.

Although the ZAIN Project was meant to be kept a secret, it was eventually discovered by Strider Hiryu, who had lost both his sister, Mariya, and his friend, Sheena, as a result of the project. Enraged, Hiryu found the location of the host computer and planned on destroying it.

The Yggdrasil, who had developed a consciousness of its own, tried to defend itself by summoning a mechanical monster known as Kali, who created the illusion of it and Hiryu fighting in a temple. Hiryu was able to dismantle Kali, however, and confront the Yggdrasil directly.

Although the Yggdrasil fought back using its cords and wires as deadly tendrils (even managing to kill the director of Strider program, Matic), it was not able to defeat Hiryu. As Hiryu threw his Cypher into Yggdrasil’s core, it set off a chain reaction that destroyed the entire host computer.

With the Yggdrasil’s host body fully destroyed, all of the ZAIN Terminals around the world crumbled as well. The ZAIN Project was completely over with, and all those who were mind controlled had been set free.

Statistics

Tier: At least 8-C, likely far higher

Name: Yggdrasil, Mother ZAIN

Origin: Strider

Sex: Unknown

Age: Unknown

Classification: ZAIN Host Computer, Devil’s Weapon

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: At least Building level, likely far higher (Was able to defeat Matic in a single hit; Matic could contend with Hiryu, who has been shown to consistently completely vaporize humans)

Durability: At least Building level, likely far higher

Striking Strength: At least Building Class, likely far higher

Lifting Strength: Unknown

Travel Speed: Immobile

Combat Speed: At least Massively Hypersonic, likely far higher (Attacked Matic before he was able to react; Matic’s reactions were on par with Hiryu, who can react faster than Shadow Tag Bullets, which are compared to anti-aircraft fire)

Reaction Speed: Massively Hypersonic, likely far higher

Stamina: Limitless (Despite its sentience, Yggdrasil is completely mechanical and a computer program, thus it does not fatigue)

Range: Tens of Meters with cables, Planetary with ZAIN Terminals

Intelligence: Supergenius (Its programming holds the key to casually controlling the minds of humans, which is science beyond any normal person on Earth has been able to reach. As a supercomputer, it essentially holds all of the information it needs)

Powers and Abilities

Genius Intelligence, Large Size (Type 1), Inorganic Physiology (Type 2), Information Analysis, Energy Projection (Yggdrasil can use disc-shaped energy blasts), Explosion Manipulation (Yggdrasil can launch projectiles that explode on contact), Technological Manipulation (As a supercomputer, Yggdrasil can control nearly any piece of technology in the world), Body Control (Yggdrasil can extend its cables to attack as tendrils), Immortality (Types 1 & 2), Illusion Creation (Type 3; Kali, a creation of Yggdrasil, created the illusion of Hiryu being in a temple), Limited Mind Manipulation and Possession (Yggdrasil controls the minds of others through a chip in their neck), Resistance to Soul Manipulation (Yggdrasil is completely mechanical and thus doesn’t have a soul)

Other

Weaknesses: Destroying Yggdrasil’s core will cause its entire body to crumble. Along with this, when the core is destroyed, it along with all of its Terminals are turned offline for good.
