Background

The Spirit of the Hero is a force referenced within the Legend of Zelda series. Little is known about the exact nature of it, but it is the essence of what makes each protagonist in the series Link. It is present in all games featuring Link, however it has only been directly referenced on several occasions.

After Link recovers from his Wolf form by collecting the Tears of Light, he meets the Light Spirit Faron. Faron tells Link that he is connected to the ancient hero chosen by the gods and that a portion of that hero's power resides within him.

Upon his defeat, Demise explicitly refers to the Spirit of the Hero. He curses the Spirit of the Hero so that an incarnation of his hatred would constantly stalk whoever has the Spirit of the Hero and force them to live a life of conflict.

Uses

• Immortality: Type 8. All Links are reliant on the spirit of the hero allowing him to reincarnate endlessly.

• Superhuman Physical Characteristics: All Links are capable of doing feats like casually lifting and throwing boulders, moving large stone shaped blocks, and fighting monsters without any items of stat enhancers.

• Acrobatics: All Links are naturally acrobatic being able to leap off ledges, do back flips, summersaults, etcetera.

• Weapon Mastery: All Links are naturally gifted in combat with different types of weapons, this ranges from his perfect aim with bow & arrows, clashing with swords, spears, magic rods, hammers, clubs, sickles, boomerangs, bombs, axes, etcetera.

• H2H Proficiency: Links have shown to have a natural gift in boxing, he is gifted enough to beat a legendary champion like Blaino, who beat Ricky whose referred to as a "spirited boxing Kangaroo".

• Regeneration Negation: Low-High, possibly Low Godly. All Links can permanently kill Stalfos who can regenerate from very little bones, & Chu Chus, who naturally regenerate with their jelatonous-like body. They can also come back from being completely destroyed

• Non-Physical Interaction, Soul Manipulation, & Immortality Negation: Type 7. All Links can normally harm and kill ghost and other undead enemies. Links can also eat the souls of poe. Can physically grab people in another universe.

• Unconventional Dream Manipulation: Some Links have shown a dream avatar with their same equipment that fights for him in his dreams.

• Precognition: Type 1. Links have foreseen different premonitions in their dreams.

• Stealth Mastery: Links have displayed skills in stealth, such as sneaking through the foresaken fortress, sneaking through Gerudo's Fortress, sneaking through Pirate's Fortress, etcetera.

• Enhanced Senses: Hero of Time Link could sense Sheik behind him when they made no sound. Hylians can hear the voice of the goddesses.

• Magic: All Links have an innate sense of magic in them, with some using it more then others.

• Immense Willpower: The average Hylian when they die have resurrect themselves into different beings such as Poes, Stalfos, Gibdos, or linger as spirits, and Link's spirit is noted to be unbreakable, being able to destroy Stalfos with his superior will.

• Natural Animal Mastery: Has a natural affinity with animals allowing him to ride horses and birds, get cows to give him milk, etcetera.

• Extrasensory Perception: With targeting, can lock onto enemies or people from far away even if he can't see them or they're invisible.

• Accelerated Development: Passive, Physical Stats & Abilities. Link going through various trials in life increases his life energy.

• Social Influencing: Link talking with people will cause them to open their hearts in return and offer wisdom on many important things.

• Empathic Manipulation: Passive. Paya states that seeing Link fills her with joy and that he has this effect on everyone.

• Aura: Is stated to have the aura of a fairy. Stated to have a special aura.

• Telekinesis: Many Links can control the arc of their boomerangs and how it moves around.

• Space-Time Manipulation & Energy Manipulation: Merely being happy or grateful raises ones energy levels allowing them to create force gems, an energy that exists in every living being, the similar energy that powers the spirit tracks, it allows him to manipulate ones energy and also creates energy such as the spirit tracks. Such energy gates include space-time gates, that are described to break the space-time continuum.

• Dimensional Storage: Can fit dozens of items within his packs.

Resistances

• Extreme Colds: Can walk through snowy mountains, ice caverns, and even in places so cold time itself is frozen.

• Extreme Heats: Able to travel in caverns with large amounts of magma and hot areas just fine.

• Ice Manipulation: Many times when Link has been frozen he has broken out of it. Even ice that freezes ones soul.

• Fire Manipulation: Constantly withstands fire attacks without any serious burning.

• Paralysis Inducement: Links have shown to be unaffected by deku nuts.

• Electricity Manipulation: Can survive attacks from massive, electric light bugs.

• Time Manipulation: Can stay around Timeshift Stones turned on and off with no ill effects.

• Power Nullification: The bubbles curse only temporarily curses Links.

• Deconstruction: Many Links can hold the Four Sword without having his body shatter.

• Madness Manipulation: Can enter the dark world without turning insane.

• Air Manipulation: Ganon was robbing the very air around with his presence, yet all the Link's were perfectly fine.

• Existence Erasure: Attacks that erase one from existence Links resists such as Malladus blast, the Wind Fish waking up, ancient arrows, etcetera.

• Precognition: The fortune teller could not read Link's future without 100 force gems.

• Fate Manipulation: When meeting the Fortune Teller he came 2 seconds earlier then he was fated to.

• Death Manipulation: Sharp's Curse didn't immediately kill Child Hero of Time Link.

• Curse Manipulation: Wasn't cursed when entering the Skultulla house in the southern swamp.

• Corruption: Child Hero of Time Link can wear the fierce deity mask without being corrupted.

• Possession: The bubbles can only possess Link temporarily.

• Transmutation, Memory Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, & Empathic Manipulation: Can spend a long time deep in the Lost Woods without becoming a Skull Kid or Stalfos and isn't a Kokiri.

• Sealing, Soul Manipulation, & Power Absorption: Many Links can grab the Master Sword without these effects, the only exception being Child Hero of Time and it still did not absorb his strength. Spirit Tracks Link could withstand blasts from Cole who could remove Zelda's soul from her body with his blast.
